Welcome everyone to another edition of the Chaos r Pre Show.
Today is Thursday, January eighth.
I am Billy Rutlers along with Shannon the Dude.
You'd give us call on the Clark's Pumpet Shop phone line.
That's eight five nine two eight oh two two eight seven, Texas at five oh two two six five six six five six, and is always the case.
Our pre show is brought to you by Italics Fine Italian Dining in Leston, Kentucky at the City Center on Main Street.
That's where I'm at today.
Shannon the Dude joins me in Louisville.
Shanne, I don't have a lot written down today because I think we all know what we need to talk about today.
But how are you doing, buddy?
Speaker 2What's up?
Speaker 3What do we need to talk about?
What was there something going on that we need to talk about?
Speaker 1Well, I think we just we need to have a come to Jesus moment.
I think I don't know, like we need to talk about what happened last night.
But regardless, let me ask you, dude, how's your morning going.
How's everything going with you?
Before we get into the.
Speaker 2Dude man, that's just it's a typical morning.
I'm here.
Speaker 3You know, I've already done a couple of shows and everything's just peachy.
Speaker 2Everything's good.
What about you?
Speaker 3Everything's good back there in Lexington.
You look like you're a little like annoyed, frustrated.
Speaker 2I don't know.
Speaker 3Maybe it's because you had to stay up late and you know, run the postgame show and listen to all the angry callers from the game last night, or what's what's going on?
Speaker 4You?
Speaker 2Cool?
Speaker 1Part of it was that somebody threw away my creamer out of the fridge this morning.
Speaker 3Hold, I was somebody threw away your coffee creamer, my coffee creamer, and you tell them how much we need our creamer.
Some animal just came in and threw away your coffee creamer that was in the refriger in the community refrigerator.
Speaker 2Somebody threw it away.
Speaker 1Somebody threw it away.
Speaker 3That to me is punishable by death.
Whoever did that, we need to like bring them into the the you know, you're you're on the jury now.
I think you would find this person guilty and you know, send them to the chair.
Speaker 2I mean, this is this is bad.
They threw away your coffee.
Why did they do that?
Speaker 1Well, I you know.
I threw a fit and I was like, you know what's going on?
Who's throwing other people's stuff away out of the fridge?
And they're like, oh, yeah, we think Ellie threw away a creamer yesterday.
She said it was over a month expired.
Speaker 2No wait, don't don't throw names into why'd you say Ellie?
At least she threw it away.
He's nice.
Now you make me take back everything I just said.
I like Ellie.
Speaker 1We would do too.
But she threw away my creamer.
But maybe she was doing me a favor because they said that it was over elken.
Speaker 3Thing on expiration date.
Expiration dates are just a suggestion.
You don't have to follow them by the book.
Like it's okay to eat something that has expired from a month ago.
Promise you I've done it.
It's fine.
I am here to tell you I'm still alive.
I'm guaranteed human.
And this is not ash and the dude we are here.
Indeed, even I hear what I heard, and it's okay to eat something that's expired a little bit.
Speaker 2It's perfectly fine.
Speaker 3Now if it's got like mold or if something like stinks, it's different.
We used to have this refrigerator in the old rock studio, The Fox.
Some people in Louisville might remember the Fox, the station that I started on.
Well Tony and Dwight did this morning show, and they had this little mini fridge in the studio and that thing.
You could smell it like before you turn the corner to go down the hallway to get into that studio.
Speaker 2That's how bad it was.
Speaker 3Now, I would not eat anything and that refrigerator.
But you're telling me your coffee creamer is like four weeks old, it's gonna be okay, Like they put enough stuff in that to keep it going for months after the expiration.
Speaker 1Yeah, but I guess you know, I'm fine with trying to avoid the early death by coffee creamer.
I mean there's essentially dairy in it, right, So I mean you want to you don't want to drink spoiled milk.
Speaker 3So I was it's okay day, It's all good.
I promise you it's gonna be okay.
You can eat that stuff.
Speaker 1Well, speaking of spoiled milk, that's what the Kentucky basketball looks like.
Speaker 2Yes, yes, this season is agent like spoiled milk.
Speaker 1Seventy three to sixty eight.
The final score, it's a quad three loss for Kentucky and they now start SEC play oh and two.
We're gonna take some phone calls today.
Eight five nine two eighth two two eight seven.
I'd like to hear what people think about the rest of the season about Mark Pope's offense, because it's unrecognizable from what it was last year.
Speaker 2Shit.
Speaker 1I mean, for as poor of a coaching job as it is this year, they did have some success last year.
I mean, let's remember they made the Sweet sixteen, you know, a great start, winning games against ap top twenty five opponents.
But they just look unrecognizable to what that season was last year.
The roster construction, the want to by this team.
Mo Diabate was calling out the game plan and players in the press conference before the game started, and he was screaming at guys on the court and how you really have to think that this team is way too late in the season to bring this back.
Shit, I mean, I don't know are they going to make the NCAA tournament after losing to Missouri in their SEC home opener last night.
Speaker 3It doesn't look good, does it.
I mean, yeah, there's plenty of time to turn this thing around.
But again, I say the same thing that I would say for the football team.
What gives you any indication they're going to turn it around?
And it's last night, a game that you had, You were up eight points with four.
Speaker 2Minutes to go.
Speaker 3You cannot lose those games, especially at home to a team like Missouri, like you said, a Quad three team, probably a team that well, I mean, maybe they'll make Maybe Missouri will make the tournament, but right now not in a position really to make the tournament.
Although that's a good win for them, their first win at UPP Arena in their history last night, and this is the first time in twenty years that Kentucky basketball is zero to two and the sec to start off the conference play.
So, I mean, it's just frustrating because you had the win, you had it, and they just they just I mean a series of errors, fumbling the ball out of bounds, bad passes that lead the turnovers which open the door for Missouri to come back and win, and they make Kentucky pay for those mistakes.
Speaker 1Yeah, outscored Kentucky fifteen to two in the final four minutes and thirty seven seconds of the game.
Kentucky up eight and scored two points in the final almost five minutes of game time.
And now Mark Pope as a worse record than Billy g through the first fifty one game gosh of his tenure.
Speaker 3Yeah, and look, man, I mean, you got Mississippi State coming to town on Saturday and they're two and oh in the conference.
They just beat Texas on the road, and I forget who else they beat, but they're two and oh to start the year.
So I mean, it's not gonna get any easier from here.
If you can't beat Missouri at home, things are not looking.
Speaker 2Good for the rest of the year.
Speaker 1Twelve and a half point favorite thirteen.
Speaker 3I got it at thirteen and a half?
Speaker 1What's going on?
Like, where is the disconnect?
Why is it that Vegas is fooled as much as we are?
Shamon?
What's what's not translating?
I keep saying.
Mark Pope says, you know, they're unrecognizable from what they do from practice to what they do in the game.
And then he talks about pace and how guys aren't sprinting to screens and they're not having hard cuts.
Well, I mean, is that not basketball?
Speaker 2One oh one?
Speaker 3It's interesting you say they're unrecognizable because I would say the problem with his team is they have no identity at all.
So you know, like, who is this team?
Are they the team that's going to go out there and take thirty three is a game?
Well you think that because one game they do, then the next game they only attempt like fifteen, So it's like, there's no It just seems like let's just throw something at the wall and see what sticks.
There's no like definitive game plan.
It seems like that this team has because they played differently from game to game, and it's hard to figure out a team, especially when you pointed it out a minute ago Mo Diabat there's that clip of him and a figure just going back and forth.
Yeah, you know, it's like there is clearly some some personality and personnel issues going on with this team.
Speaker 1Well, I think a lot of it goes back to roster construction.
We've mentioned on this show that even like losing Alabama three times last year, this team wanted to get tougher and be more physical.
So you go out and get a Modia Bata and then you don't have a stretch four because you have him at the form right and that's not Mark Pope's offense.
That's not spacing the floor.
That's not the video game like numbers that BYU had.
By the way, BYU looks like they have the number one overall pick in the draft.
They're going to have a pretty good team this year.
It's Kentucky that has Mark Pope and no direction right now.
I mean, this is concerning, this really is.
I mean, they have sixteen games left, there's eleven Quad one opportunities.
But Shannon, I mean halfway through the year.
I think next game is the midway point of the season.
I mean, what have you seen that shows you that this team even deserves.
Speaker 3To have postseason basketball?
It is really puzzling at this point.
Nothing and again we're we have a healthy team.
Now we start at Jalen Lowe JQ started last it didn't matter, didn't change anything, still lost the game.
Speaker 2Here's the thing.
Speaker 3I don't know the answers, and the problem is neither does Mark Pope.
And when your leader doesn't have the answers, that is concerning for the rest of us, because he's the one who's supposed to be able to know what's wrong, know what to correct, how to fix it, and I don't think that he has any answers and any clue on how to turn this thing around again.
Like those games in the SEC at home, you have to win those games, and to give up that game last night.
Speaker 2This team's in trouble.
Speaker 3They are because, I mean, there is a real chance Mississippi State comes in and beat you on Saturday.
Speaker 2And now you're oh on three.
Now you're at the bottom of the SEC.
Speaker 3And again you're gonna continue to hear twenty two million dollars.
This is what twenty two million dollars gets you a roster that starts off oh to two in the SEC nine and six.
Overall, it looks like they can't stand each other out there on the court.
There are some real team chemistry issues.
Speaker 1And something like that snowballs, right.
I mean, you can lose locker room very quickly.
I mean, if you think these last games been ugly, just wait if they were to continue to lose, what this team might look like.
And and Mark Pope's comments fall on deaf ears.
I think it's you got to show us that you're up for the challenge.
You understand the assignment.
There's been a lot of lip service, but now it's time for action.
Yeah, first went ever at Roparna from Missouri.
I know they didn't join the conference a little later, but still, I mean, when records are being set like this, it's never a good thing.
Speaker 3Right Yeah, And when it's been twenty years since something happened and negatively and we're talking about it, it's bad.
You know, going back to modeabate for just a minute, because he seems to be like the outspoken guy on the team.
You know that's gotten some quote little leader, Yeah, yeah, well vocal complainer.
I you know, I don't know which whatever you want to label him as.
But you know, when he had those quotes that we were talking about yesterday, do you take that as he was sort of directing that at his teammates about the scouting report not being what it should versus Alabama this past weekend?
Do you take that as a shot at like the players, the coach or all the above, because you could kind of I could see both ways, like where you could see, you know, saying that we're not ready.
Is that a shot at his teammates or is that like, hey, we didn't game prep the way we should have and that's the coach's fault.
Speaker 1I think it's mainly the coaches that he's thrown under the bus there.
Now, obviously the guys could not hustle, they could not take their role seriously, and that could affect the game plan that Kentucky has.
But the game plan set by the coaching staff right the scouting report, how we will approach the game is decided long before the guys don't sprint on the court.
So, you know, I think mainly the coach that he was pointing fingers at.
But like this, get these guys seem worried about themselves right now.
I don't know if you saw, but after the game, two players were posting on their Instagram story.
One was selling hats.
Speaker 2Shannon the game, so who's selling hats?
Speaker 1Colin Chandler was selling some hats after the game, and Brandon Garrison was sharing some highlight clips of himself.
Oh after the game, his highlights and he could share the ball every now and then.
Now is that a good sign that guys after a huge home loss are in the locker room selling hats, No posting highlights of what they did well in that.
Speaker 3Big law No, because you still have to face the facts your team lost.
Like I don't know, why you would be posting any kind of highlights of yourself when you lost a game, Like, why are you bragging about that you lost?
Speaker 1I mean, maybe we take it more seriously than they do.
Right, we're destraw that's a problem, wondering what's going to happen next.
And if these guys are making millions of dollars, that's another thing.
These guys aren't playing for free anymore.
I mean, people, are you paying their hard earned money to give to these collectives?
So these guys can have a twenty two million dollar roster and then they come out and they don't care.
Speaker 3And that's why I don't mind criticizing the players.
We always sit for years.
Don't criticize these players.
They're kids, but now they're making more money than most of us will ever make in our entire lifetime in one year to play basketball.
They're not just kids.
They're now professionals.
Let's call it what it is.
So you're making that kind of money, I think you can be openly criticized by the media.
Speaker 2I think it's perfectly fine.
Now you're making that kind of money.
Speaker 3You're you're not playing for free and just a college scholarship.
You're now making millions upon millions of dollars, and when you play bad, I think that it's perfectly fine to criticize him.
Speaker 1And I mean that offense was terrible.
I mean it was They were averaging one point a minute for the first ten minutes of the game.
Speaker 2SHANEA.
Yeah, Pope, he's even saying that the pacing was terrible.
You know, he's.
Speaker 3Finally, I think, being openly critical of his team, which we haven't heard much of so far the season.
But I think finally the frustrations just kicking into an all new level for Pope.
Speaker 1But like, you know, the offense is so bad, but yet Trent Noah hasn't played in three games.
Yeah, Jasper Johnson can't see one minute on the court when he's one of the most biggest nil earners that you have on your roster.
Why is Brandon Garrison handling the ball under two minutes in the game, Like, I don't know.
I mean, it's just puzzling.
It's head scratching, and you'd think even the most basic basketball coaches will be able to find some answers to this.
How come Jaden Quainton's isn't in the end to rebound the ball right.
I mean even on the free throw, the missed free throw when you got Malachi Moreno, that doesn't box out.
Why is it, Jaden Quainton's in there.
Speaker 3Yeah, I mean at the NBA at the end there, when you're down one point, you send Missouri to the line.
Speaker 2They missed the front end of that one in one.
You get the rebound.
Speaker 3You got a chance to win the game right there, but no, the ball gets kicked out, Missouri gets the ball again, there's another foul, then they make two free throws, and now you're down three, and then that what was that last play, Jalen low Is that?
I mean, I know that's not what Mark Pope drew up.
You know you took the time out.
I know he didn't say, okay, let's get the ball in the Jalen Lowe let him get a contestant fade away three to try to tie the game, which by the way, didn't even hit the rim, hit the side of the backboard.
Speaker 2Looked like a shot out would take and pick up basketball.
I mean, it's.
Speaker 1Horrible and we'd kill cal if something like that happened at the end of the game.
Speaker 3You would say he don't know how to draw plays.
He's not drawing up anything.
He's not an X and O guy.
He's a roll out the ball guy.
And yet we got this guy who's supposed to be a perfect X and O guy, and that's what we get in the offense.
Now again that don't think that he drew that up that way, but there's a disconnect if that's the play that we get as a result of it, there's a disconnect between the coaches and the players.
If we call a time out and that's the best shot we can get a.
Speaker 1Five nine two eight oh two two eight seven is the phone number if you'd like to call inb our Whiskey thief, call the day text us at five oh two two six five six six five six.
There's no other way to put it.
This has been an awful coaching job by Mark Pope.
And last night he said BBN has the right to say whatever they want.
Speaker 3I agree, I agree.
What kind of coffee creamer do you want, Billy?
I'll go out and buy you some coffee creer.
Oh, you know, I'll bring you some tomorrow for you.
Speaker 1Put me on the best coffee creamer on the planet.
Right now, hazel nut, right the hazel.
Speaker 2Nut ring the bell for hazel nut.
Let's be a kid.
Speaker 1I can't.
And Ellie's already texted us this morning.
Speaker 2No, we know.
I feel bad about that.
Speaker 1Well, you know, I mean, she's just doing me a favor.
Speaker 2I feel bad for everybody.
I feel bad.
Speaker 3I feel bad for you because you've got no coffee creamer.
And you know I feel bad for her because now she's taking all the blame.
Speaker 1It's like the inch growing a heart right in front of us, folks.
Shannon, the dude just caring about everybody this morning.
We'll take a break and be right back here on the case.
I appreciate it.
Welcome back, Billy and the dude here on the kiss, are appreciow eight five nine two eight oh two two eighty seven.
We'll get to the phones in just a second.
Shannon, how much milk do you drink on a daily basis?
Speaker 3Uh, well, if you don't count creamer, I guess zero.
Nah, there's is there milk and creamer?
Speaker 1What is in cream?
I I guess it's milk, right.
I don't think it's all cream.
I think there are some non dairy creamers, like maybe like oat milk.
I don't even know if that counts.
Speaker 2Drinking oat milk, but oats don't have milk.
Speaker 1We uh, well, you know sometimes you have that way protein that you need to get down, Shannon, are you still working out hitting it hard?
Speaker 2Yeah?
But I do it with water.
I see.
Speaker 3Like back in the day when you have those protein shakes, you had to do it with milk otherwise it tasted like garbage.
But now they've got these protein drinks that you just throw water in it, and it tastes really good just with water, Like okay, chocolate powder and water I wouldn't think would be good.
Speaker 1It actually is, well milk and make you bulke up even more, right, I mean it's got even more protein in it.
Speaker 2So yeah.
Speaker 3Well, you know, it was a big thing about milk when we were kids.
You had to have like milk time out during class.
Do they still do that?
Speaker 1I wonder, like, like, wait, what is a milk time out?
Speaker 2Like we know, did you not do this in school?
Speaker 3No, like in first grade or whatever, Like, all right, it's milk time and you like sit in a circle and you get those little half plants of milk or whatever they are, little cartons of milk.
Speaker 1No, I remember the cartons and you had to like bend it back and.
Speaker 2Write it forward.
Speaker 3Or you didn't have like milk time in like kindergarten first grade.
Speaker 1No, I didn't hold hands and I'll drink our milk carton.
Speaker 2Well we did.
Speaker 3And then what about the swish?
That was the absolute worst.
Speaker 1What's the swish?
Speaker 3It's like this dental stuff and they became in this little white packet and it was disgusting.
Speaker 1This is before my time, and you this was an eighties thing.
Speaker 3I think you cut And if you grew up in the eighties, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
If you went to a school, you know that actually cares about their teeth.
The Bullet County we do.
You had to cut the little packet on the side and then drink it out of this little packet and it was swish and it was so nasty it almost made me vomit.
And it was so bad I had my mom write a note to the teacher asking that I'd be excused from swish time.
Speaker 2Because it was disgusting that's was going on at school.
I can taste it in my mind right now.
Speaker 3I can still taste it, and I haven't had that, and it's probably been thirty six years since I've had it, but I can still taste it just.
Speaker 2From you know, thinking about it.
Speaker 1Yeah, God build time and Swish.
Back in the eighties, interesting stuff.
Speaker 2What did you guys do?
Speaker 1I don't know.
We had milk cartons, like I was saying.
We also had like.
Speaker 3Here's yoga girl right now, milk break and fluoride treatment.
Speaker 2Thank you, yoga girl.
Speaker 1Milk break.
Speaker 2Yes, we had milk break and fluoride treatment.
Speaker 5Uh.
Speaker 1We used to have juice in a bag and you'd had to stab it with a straw.
That kind of our juice in a lunch bag.
Yeah, so like you could have juice, but like if you ever had juice in a.
Speaker 2Bag, No, usually I drink it out of a carton.
Speaker 1Well, yeah, that's what we had.
Had to stab it with a straw.
Speaker 2Bag of juice, bag of juice.
That's so disgusting.
Speaker 1I'm gonna look up Swish though.
During the break, I got to figure out what's going on.
Yeah, Swish mouthwash.
Speaker 2You guys are it was awful?
Speaker 3Tell you what's not well, I'll tell you what is awful.
My beat last night on DraftKings.
Yeah, because I took that well, I took Missouri in the thirteen and a half because I felt like, Okay, Kentucky's gonna win this game, but thirteen and a half.
Speaker 2Felt like a lot.
Speaker 3Then I took Alabama four and a half points against Vanderbilt.
Speaker 1What are you doing?
That's your team?
Speaker 2Right?
Speaker 3But I thought, you know, Okay, there's a good chance Alabama goes into Nashville wins the game, and even if they lose, they can lose by four points and I still win the bet.
Speaker 2Right.
Well, they lost by six by the way, Vandy fifteen or er.
Speaker 3Great for everybody's saying, oh, they ain't playing nobody, Well, they beat Bama last night.
NFL playoffs were coming up too.

Additional terms at DKNG dot co slash audio limited time offer.
Speaker 1One person said, not playing Jasper Johnson is really going to hurt us in recruiting.
Well, Shannon, who does Kentucky have for the twenty twenty six class right now?
Speaker 2Nobody?
Speaker 1Nobody?
Anybody we have nobody.
If you're looking forward to next season, what are we gonna do?
Speaker 3Are we just not going to have a team next year?
Is everybody coming back?
We're gonna run this back again.
Speaker 1He may have to be all transfer portal players.
And by the way, for a coach that said he was never going to recruit freshman, I'll uh Rick Patino a couple of years ago.
You remember when he lectured us about how we were too quick to judge Mark Pope's team.
I mean, they beat Saint John's and we got a whole thing about how riters and media members you know, don't know ball and need to wait before they judge a team until they have their full roster back.
Yep, Well here we are, Well, here we are, Rick, tell us what to do next?
Speaker 2Full roster zero to two.
Speaker 1Tell us what to do next.
Things have been great since Rick's been back.
Speaker 2He's just trying to protect this guy.
Speaker 3I understand what Rick Patino was doing there, you know, like we heard like behind the scenes he sent a text to Mark Pope going what are you doing?
You need to straighten your blank up m h.
And then publicly, of course, Rick Patino's gonna say, hey, you know, pump the brakes, give the guy, because you know, Pope is Rick Patino's guy, so of course he's going to try to protect him to the public.
Speaker 1But do you think Patino could get this team in shape or do you think that yes, yes, because you anything, it's a coaching I think Patino, in my opinion, Rick Patino is the greatest coach in my lifetime, better than coach k and I wasn't around during John Wooden's years, but you know, better than uh Roy Williams or any other coaches you want to name.
Speaker 3I think Rick Patino was the best because he won everywhere.
He went, everywhere at every level, even over in Greece.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, Kentucky considers himself the gold standard of the sport.
You will not be if you continue seasons like this A five nine, two two eight seven.
We got loaded lines.
We're gonna get to you when we come back here on the show before the show, it is the CaSR pre show.
You think Katie Perry had the Swish mouthwash in her classes.
Speaker 3She's close to my age probably, so yeah, you had to do that.
Speaker 2You know.
I was like.
Speaker 3A football player in a bowl game.
I was opting out of the Swish game.
I was like, I don't want to do this, I'm opting out.
Don't give me that stuff.
Speaker 1I mean, just bizarre.
But I mean, I don't know until hygiene was important back in the eighties, you could, I guess argue it isn't anymore.
But yep, you never know what you're going to talk about on this show, do you yeah.
Speaker 2People remember this though, Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, the creamer and the swish.
Speaker 3Here it is Here's Southside, chuck, dude.
Milk time was the best in elementary school.
Speaker 2We did it.
Speaker 3Then we took a nap.
Floride treatment was every week on Friday.
Speaker 2So there you go.
Speaker 3By the way, an update on this coffee creamer Gait.
You said that somebody threw away your coffee creamer.
Yeah, and the refrigerator.
I've got it on good source here that that wasn't even your coffee creamer to begin with, that somebody brought it in the person were blaming for throwing this coffee creamer away, it was actually her coffee creamer.
You were drinking her coffee creamer and it was oat milk creamer.
So is there any truth to the fact that you are complaining about somebody throwing away coffee creamer that wasn't even yours to begin with?
Billy Well went no, no, no, milk, no, no.
Speaker 1But I can confirm that it was a ridge only Ellie's coffee or a coffee creamer.
But like you know, Shannon, you find a lost dog.
Speaker 2What do you mean Originally, you can't just take somebody's coffee.
Speaker 1For a second hold on that works.
Speaker 2Okay, go ahead, go ahead, defend yourself.
Speaker 1You find you find a lost dog and like you're looking for the owner.
You can't you can't even get through.
Speaker 2You can ps or your way through this.
This is ridiculous.
Speaker 1No look man, no look man.
Somebody like doesn't touch their coffee creamer for thirty days when it becomes the community's coffee creamer, do you watch and when you're the only one using it because it's expired, and then somebody throws it away.
I got attached to it, don't know.
Speaker 3You don't know that she wasn't drinking the coffee creamer from that container.
And here's the thing, like, there's some etiquette when it comes to the community fridge.
Billy, you can't just go into the refrigerator and start claiming things to be yours.
Speaker 2You can't just put billy are sports.
Speaker 3You can't write your name on a piece of paper and they go get some scotch tape and stick it to it and pretend that it's yours.
That's not your coffe You can't complain when somebody else throws away they're coffee creamer, not yours.
Speaker 2You should not have been.
Speaker 1Taking it to begin with, You're missing the point.
There's plenty of communication there.
I mean, this was not a situation where I'm just eating somebody's food out of the fridge.
Somebody ever bring your lunch to work and somebody eat the food.
Speaker 2You're the worst kind of coworker.
Speaker 3Like, you're the kind of guy like I would bring in like like a breakfast burrito and you would just go in there and start helping yourself.
Speaker 2I'd walk in there, ridiculous, and I.
Speaker 3Would have you midway through, like my my burrito, just heating it up in the microwave, just claiming it.
Speaker 1You can't, that's that's unfair.
Now.
The only time I ate somebody's food in the fridge was during COVID, Shannon.
It was a year and a half since somebody had been into the building.
So I decided to eat a frozen ribbi.
Speaker 3You're you're eating ribs at the radio station on what we don't even have a George Foreman grill.
Speaker 2No, like a frozen ribba in the microwave.
Speaker 1Yeah.
It was one of those you know meals you put in the microwave.
It wasn't like just the ww okay, look like.
Speaker 3Okay, I'll give you the twinkies.
The twinkies have been there for like six years.
Those twinkies are old enough to go to kindergarten and.
Speaker 2Have to do swish.
Speaker 3Okay, yeah, but the twinkies, I think you can eat those.
But if it's food, or if it's creamer, you know, coffee creamer and the refrigerator, you can't just go in and start claiming it and then get mad when somebody throws away their coffee creamer not yours.
Speaker 2Uh.
Speaker 1If there's a coke can that sits in the fridge and it's been there for two months and nobody drinks.
Speaker 2It, but this was opened, but it was communicated.
Speaker 1That everybody could use the creamer.
Speaker 2Wasn't like, you know, did she say, Billy, you can have it.
Speaker 1We've I've talked to Ellie in the past about communal creamers.
Speaker 3She said you could borrow it.
She didn't say you could take ownership of it.
Well, she threw it away, yeah, and it was hers.
Speaker 2It's not yours.
So you can't get mad.
So next time, bring in your own damn coffee creamer.
How about that.
Speaker 1I'm gonna I'm gonna need wait until you buy.
Speaker 3Me some of that I'll get you a coffee tomorrow at corn Bread Hemp.
Speaker 1Okay, yeah, corn Bread Hemp tomorrow in Louisville.
That should be fun.
By the way, they cannot sell Seltzers at their store, and that will be part of some of the stuff that we talk about tomorrow and some of the laws that have been changing.
But everything there is buy one, get one, but they cannot sell Seltzer.
Speaker 3It's ridiculous the amount of like the hoops of fire they've had to jump through just to be able to sell these thc Seltzers.
But yeah, well we'll get into more of that tomorrow.
Yeah, we got a whole like We've got a lot of people calling in.
Speaker 1Well, I'm sure they're enjoying our cream, probably.
Speaker 3Upset about your your savage antics of you just taking people's stuff.
Speaker 2Out of the refrigerator here at the radio station.
Speaker 1You can't do that, Okay, Well, let's see who wants to give their opinion first today.
Speaker 2Joey Hey, Joey hey, Joey.
Speaker 6Hey, Man, how are y'all this morning?
Speaker 3I'm a little worked up on behalf of our coars, But other than that, I'm good.
Speaker 4I understand.
Speaker 6But man, whenever, Pope took low way out was like a minute thirty or whatever it was to go and had Garrison initiate that offense.
Speaker 7What was he doing?
Speaker 8My head was about to bust.
Speaker 6Twenty two million dollar roster.
He's got to get a dude for what he's got sitting on the it's not playing.
He could have got anything, and next year is going to be bad because nobody's gonna come here.
Speaker 2Yeah, thanks for the calle Joey.
We appreciate it.
Speaker 3If you had the over under at a half caller before we would hear the words twenty two million dollars, you had the over, well, I guess you would lose, wouldn't you.
Speaker 1Matt said yesterday that Kentucky could lose every single game this year and Mark Pope would be back as the coach.
Do you think that's correct?
Speaker 2No?
Every game?
Speaker 3Every game?
No, every game, No, I don't think so.
Fans Wit and Taller, I.
Speaker 1Think every game would be I have a substantial.
Speaker 3Like I know Bryce Drew did that at Vanderbilt where he went owen sixteen in the conference.
Speaker 2So that's not going to happen here at Kentucky.
Speaker 3So it's kind of ridiculous to even try to debate that point because it's not going to happen.
But let's say you know, they win five games in the SEC.
It's gonna be really bad.
But I think he would still come back.
Speaker 1Well, even if you did want to move on, it'd be a twenty plus million dollar buy.
Speaker 8Yah.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, I mean unless he does go over, which he's not going to.
He'll be back for a third year.
But the third year is going to be really important.
That is going to be the make or break year.
Speaker 9Already make or break, yes, then third year, yeah, because if you have, like let's say you missed the postseason, let's say you missed the tournament this year, you come back that third year and you miss it again, you're gone, like you are.
Speaker 3I don't think there's any way you can't tolerate that at Kentucky, not for basketball.
Speaker 1I mean, And how many times have they missed the NCAA Tournament total in program history?
Right, I mean it's not been a ton well twice with cal right the n I t year.
Well, one was COVID Well, they.
Speaker 2Were nine and sixteen.
They wouldn't have made it in any situation.
Speaker 1And one was your best player was hurt for the entire year.
Right, Yeah, so yeah, could be a historically bad coaching job.
Let's go do next on the phone?
Speaker 2Who's up all right?
Andrew's up next to Hey Andrew, Hey Andrew.
Speaker 8Hey, guys, I just want to want you all to think about that Thursday and where we were like, so just like what is going on here Mark Pope?
And then you've all already talked about Fatina this morning.
The Tino's video was really what got us all to change our minds.
And guys, I don't really know where we go from here.
Some people have already talked about, well going to next year, who are we gonna give?
Nobody's gonna want to come play for such a bad team, and you know, just things are terrible, and think about how Pope has to be a little bit embarrassed.
I believe that he loves this school, and you know, I believe that he loves this program.
Just is there any chance of a resignation?
I mean, he does not want to get fired.
I don't think so.
Speaker 3Now he's not gonna quit, Well now he won't quit.
I don't think there's any scenario at Mark Pope quit.
He loves it here too much.
Speaker 8How do you see this ending.
Speaker 2Well.
Speaker 3This season I don't think is gonna go well.
I think that they'll squeak into the NCAA tournament.
That's gonna be my prediction, Billy.
I think they'll squeak in.
They'll probably be like nineteen and twelve or something like that, get into the tournament, and then next year is going to be again one of those years where you can't you can't barely get into the tournament for a third year.
You've got to be better than that.
Thanks for the call, Andrew, I appreciate it.
But in a scenario which mart Pope would just resign, ever.
Speaker 1No, no, I don't think that would happen.
But like the recruiting is going to be a huge thing like that, this next transfer portal window for Pope trying to redo the roster again after these mistakes this year.
I mean, it's it's it is going to be crucial, There's no doubt about it.
Speaker 3So I don't I could see Kentucky being one of those like last four in or something like that.
Speaker 1Yeah, but I don't know if they can they can they can, you know, be at twelve losses, Like have you seen the rest of this schedule?
You got to play Vandy twice.
Speaker 2Well, you said you got a lot of a lot of Quad one So I mean.
Speaker 1You've got eleven quad one games left.
Speaker 2Okay, so let's say you finish.
Speaker 1They just lost a Missouri yeah at home, right.
Speaker 3I know that's a bad loss.
There's there's no doubt about that.
But you know, if you do get there, let's say nineteen wins.
I mean, you've gotten some good wins over Quad one teams.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's gonna be SEC tournament or bust.
I think for this team to get into the tournament, but you think.
Speaker 2They're going to win the tournament to get in.
You think it's gonna be that bad?
Speaker 1Yeah?
Speaker 2Wow, I hope you're wrong.
Speaker 1I mean this we came into this week saying this was the week, this was the most important pivotal week for Kentucky to rebound and get their season back on track.
I mean, these are not just losses.
These are being blown out.
You are losing by twenty plus points at these end points of these games, and the one win that you have is Indiana and Saint John's, who are pretty disappointing this year.
Who's up next year?
Speaker 2Sam?
Speaker 1What's up?
Sam?
Speaker 4Hey?
Guys, just a couple of things that worried me.
Is like, and I've agreed with everything that people have said.
I was in the eruption zone last night, so I felt like I got a better chance to kind of look at the bench, look at the players, and I don't want to call guys one by one, but you just go back and watch the tape.
I mean, guys are just arguing with each other, yelling at each other, and that's not gonna help.
That's not gonna help you win at all.
Second, you've got Mark kind of just look into the bench like I'm not too good a read lift, but like kind of a what are we doing in some of these plays?
And that's really concerning to the ability, It's really concerning.
Thank you all for the call, and.
Speaker 2Thanks Sam, thank you.
Speaker 3I did see Mark Pope fired up on the sideline for maybe the most I've ever seen him fired up in a game.
Speaker 1They got a technical Yeah, I haven't even talked about that.
Yeah, I mean that could have been the It looked like the catalyst for what Kentucky needed.
They were leading after that.
I mean, O take it away, hit that three quarter courts shot, which was awesome.
So I mean there was some positivity there and then well.
Speaker 3Like I said, I mean it looked, you know, the first part of the game was a little sluggist, but then when they finally pulled away, looked like we were gonna win.
Speaker 2But then just an epic collapse.
Speaker 3Those are things you can't Those are things that good teams don't do.
Speaker 2You didn't give up an eight point le be four minutes to go right, or.
Speaker 1You lose at home as Kentucky, right, I mean, just simple as that.
Yeah, I mean, as a blue blood of the sport, you've got to protect home.
We had a caller last night in the postgame show that said, every time UK loses this year, he has to watch a Hallmark movie with his wife.
Speaker 3Oh my gosh, well you better get ready.
Maybe a few more of those in your future.
Speaker 1That is a lot of Hallmark movie.
Speaker 2What's your favorite Hallmark Christmas movie?
Speaker 1I don't have one.
I don't think I have anything.
I've seen them, but I haven't like registered what the title is and wanted to watch it again.
Speaker 3Right, there was one that I watched that was horrible on that road trip.
I can't remember what it was.
It was like the Sexy Snowman God turns into a snowman.
Speaker 1Is this on the road trip?
Yes, trying to avoid contact with everybody in the back seat.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was terrible.
Speaker 3It seems like DJ from Full House isn't like every one of them.
Speaker 1Now, well you got to you gotta make that money somehow.
Speaker 2It's her name like Kanda's Burr.
Speaker 1I'm not sure, but Matt says that most of those movies are filmed in Lagrange, Kentucky, which is I mean right at my neck of the woods, kind of right there in Oldham County.
Speaker 2Oh well, maybe you could go be in one of those.
Speaker 1I mean, I know, like the city and there's like a train that runs through in a lot of shops, so it could look good for a movie.
But I don't know that's where our next movie role is going to be.
I think, Shannon, let's take our next call.
Speaker 2Joshua, Hey, josh what's up?
Joshua?
Speaker 5Hey, good morning guys.
Nothing just numb.
Really used to be mad, Now I'm just numb.
I've played ball since nineteen ninety nine, watched every game.
The only game I've ever missed was the West Virginia game in two thousand and nine.
Man, this is the poor chorus constructed roster.
I think I've ever watched or been on, and I've been on some really bad teams.
They just look horrible.
I can pick up four other guys at the ymcaight, and in two or three games of being on the court, we would have figured something out better in these guys.
I can't even think of one strength of this team.
I just want to hang up and listen.
Do you guys know of any strengths this team actually has?
Speaker 3Non biased thanks for the call, Joshua, Joshua, would you say their strength?
Speaker 2What is their strength?
Speaker 3I mean, yeah, well, I mean I thought it was to be three point shooting.
That's clearly not a strength.
No, it's defensively, We're not good defensively.
Speaker 1They don't really shoot free throws that well.
I mean, it's not their strength.
Speaker 2I mean, this is tough.
This is a tough.
Speaker 3Seriously, let's think for being serious, like what are they good at running?
Speaker 1Running?
Speaker 2I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 1I mean, how about like coming back from twenty point deficits.
Speaker 3I mean I would say like they're good at like sharing the ball, but that's not true.
They don't you know, as uh Nate oh highlight it.
They're not good at that.
Speaker 1The Bigs aren't good at passing.
Speaker 2No, rebounding.
Speaker 3No, I mean last night they couldn't even get a rebound at the free throw line last night for a chance.
Speaker 2To win the game.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 3I don't know that it's puzzling when you can't pick one thing that this team is good at.
Speaker 1You know, like they start so poorly and then like they have to like come back, so there is like a sense of they bring some energy like in the middle.
Speaker 2Of the case.
Speaker 3I just feel like this team is just very mediocre at a lot of things.
Speaker 1But like we thought this was the giant killer, like our preseason predictions, the roster construction.
Speaker 2They're good at nil.
There we go.
We felt that's it.
Thank you sh They got a lot of money.
Speaker 1They're good at cashing that.
Speaker 3They got a whole lot of money.
Speaker 1Sty're playing walk the Flaka in the basketball games.
I don't know.
Eight five nine two two eight seven.
We need to take a break.
We'll be right back.
One more segment ago here on the ksrpre show, welcome back.
Are you playing this?
Because I said people are calling me a monster on the text.
Speaker 2Line, Yeah, you are a monster.
Speaker 3You are anybody that goes into the company fridge and starts claiming food that is not theirs.
Speaker 2You're a monster.
Speaker 1When somebody tells the office that their creamer has become the community creamer, and then I use it.
I'm not gonna call myself the.
Speaker 3Back and then come in here immediately throwing a fit because somebody threw.
Speaker 1It away when it was beginning, well, I have to have creamer.
I can't drink black coffee.
Speaker 2And then you what a diva.
Speaker 3You do have one person that's defending you.
Cody on Twitter says, it's okay, Billy, I do the same thing at my work.
Hashtag fringe or fridge fiend.
Speaker 1I think that's our whiskey thief comment tweet of the day.
Yeah, you two would be best friends.
Speaker 2Probably.
Speaker 3Aaron says, as you were talking about the school floor right, I could taste.
Speaker 2It and thought I was gonna puke.
It was awful.
Speaker 1I love that where you can just you can still taste something like it's.
Speaker 2Something I haven't tasted now in almost forty years.
Speaker 3I can just think about it, talk about it, and I can taste it just about thinking.
Speaker 1About Unfortunately, we've talked about so many random things.
Today.
We haven't gotten to as many phone calls as we'd like, so we still got some people on the line.
Let's get to them before we get out of here.
Shannon, who's up next?
Speaker 2All ight, Let's go to Randy.
Hey, Randy, Hey, Randy.
Speaker 7Good morning, gentlemen.
I need the number to Don Franklin Auto to get ahold of the general manager.
Because this Ferrari we got we need to trade it in on an upgraded vehicle.
Speaker 2I don't know what that is.
This is not a Ferrari.
This is like a vault.
This was like a volvol soccer mom soccer mom van.
We're driving right now.
You know all the kids in.
Speaker 7Four fifteen, where was Mark Poke from the Duke game?
We knew Cooper Flag is going to spin and do this and do that.
Where is he at last night in the game where we're at doing the x's and nose?
Speaker 2Great question?
I mean, like it does doesn't seem like it's the same guy.
Speaker 7It looks like he's lost confidence, the team's lost confidence in him, and I just it's a deer in a headlight.
Speaker 8Look.
Speaker 7I was proud of him to see a technical last night because he showed fire yeah, so I'll hang up.
Listen, guys, that's it's frustrating.
Speaker 2So thanks to call Randy.
Speaker 1Thank you.
Yeah, that was just it feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it.
Speaker 2What the Cooper Flag game?
Speaker 1Yeah yeah, beating Duke, I mean that was brilliant.
Speaker 2But and last year, you know, you had success.
Speaker 3And I have mixed emotions about the whole thing because when he was first hired, I'm going, really like, we're letting a Hall of Fame coach go to bring in a guy who's never won a game in the NCAA tournament.
I was very vocal and negative about it.
And then I was told, well, you're being too negative.
Give them a chance.
And then, you know, we all kind of said okay, And then they had a good season.
Last year, they had a decent run in the tournament.
I said, Okay, maybe he is the guy for the job.
And now you get what we got this year.
And now I'm kind of going back to the way I felt that originally when we first heard him.
Speaker 2But I should have gone with my gut all along.
Speaker 1Really well, the nostalgia only lasts so long, and it feels like we were sold a lot of that.
Yeah, let's take another call, dude before.
Speaker 2We get out right, Casey, go ahead, Casey, Hey, Casey, Hey, hey.
Speaker 10Fellows, good morning.
So Randy hit my first point.
Do coaches have a sophomore slump?
Because this doesn't even feel like the same coach we had last year who was play calling against Duke that way.
This team is just frustrating for a number of reasons.
We make it hurt on ourselves.
We don't make our easy baskets, and we have no team identity, and it just thinks and then we all are upset about it, and like listening to sad Ttti Lovelas and Keith Whitley songs, and you've got these players out here who are selling merch and posting clips from a loss.
I just don't get it.
But I hope you guys have a great day and go catch K's the call.
Speaker 2Casey.
Speaker 3Yeah, it just adds to the frustration that I mean, everybody's feeling that right now.
Speaker 1Yeah.
I don't know if coaches have a sophomore slump, but you can, you can definitely bring in the wrong guys for your system.
And I feel like this We've talked about roster construction being a problem, but now you know, hopefully this this team stays together, the locker room does not get worse because they've still got half of the season ahead of them, Shannons, and you can bet on that season on draft.
Speaker 3That's right, who Wednesday Night Miami or Old Miss College football playoffs.
Speaker 1I'm root for Old Miss.
I want a story that way.
Speaker 2Yeah, it really would be.
Speaker 3Right, But anyway, you can bet on DraftKings.
New customers sign up, use a promo co KSR.
Bet five bucks your bet hits.
You're going to get three hundred dollars in bonus bets only on Draft Kings.
Speaker 1All right, fun show, even after a loss.

KSR is next for Shannon the Dude.
I'm Billy Rutlis.
This has been the KSO pre show.
Talk tomorrow
