Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

Welcome everyone.

It is the KSR pre Show.

It's Thursday, October sixteenth.

I am Shannon the Dude.

You can give us a call on the Clark's Pupping Shop phone line eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

If you're a whiskey thief, call of the day.

The text line is five O two two six five six six five six.

The KSR Pre Show is brought to you by Italics Fine Italian Dining in Lexington.

I'm in the Louisville studio.

My co host Billy Rutledg's ready to go for episode one thousand and one of the KSR pre Show.

And I hear that was already an eventful morning for you.

Billy.

You went to KS Bar, you couldn't get in Ksbar.

Now you're back in the studio.

What's going on with you?

Adrenaline's pumping a little bit this morning.

Speaker 2

I mean, I just walked into the studio, haven't even taken a sip of my coffee that I had barely enough time to make.

Speaker 1

But I'm here, I'm ready to go.

We just you know, we're beating on the doors.

Speaker 2

Couldn't get in, so we came here to the studio and made it just in time, so we're ready to for another thousand shows with you, dude, How are you doing doing well?

Speaker 1

And don't feel bad that you don't have a key to KOs Bar, Billy, because I'm one of the owners and I don't even have a key like I would be out there in the same boat that you are, So don't feel bad about It's not your fault, okay, but I'm glad that you're here with us.

Speaker 2

That seems messed up.

Sh'd have a key as an owner.

How often are you coming up to eat chicken wings at ks Bar and Grill?

Speaker 3

Not enough?

Speaker 1

I'm not not nearly enough.

Probably if I had to guess four maybe five times a year, like like once every quarter, I check in, you know, like quality control.

I have to go out.

I have to make sure that the wings are still on point.

Those tater tots that have that hash brown casse roles stuff in the middle that we just added to got to make sure they're still on point and make sure that they're fully stuck with Shannon the Dude's brew.

But other than that, you know, I'll get up there maybe for a game or if we have some sort of special event.

Or maybe they need me to dress up like Hermione from Harry Potter.

Hermione, Yeah, that's right, that's right, Hermione from Harry Potter.

Maybe Spider Man like I did?

Was that last year I dressed up as Spider Man and did comic book trivia at k I'm the special events guy.

Basically, that's when they bring me in when they need a dog and pony show, Let's bring in Shane and the dude and uh.

And that's about the only time I really get up there these days.

Speaker 2

Well, I was peering through the window, you know, like a kid that couldn't go out and play with his friends, like looking outside.

But I could see all the pictures of myself that have been hung up in chas Bar.

Didn't see a lot of you, Shannon, So maybe it was just where I was looking.

Well, I think it's probably because you had something to do with the decorating.

I think you hung those pictures up.

Hold on, hold on, now, I had nothing to do with any decorating.

Well, that's just Ryan and Drew, I think giving me my due in some of the spots.

Speaker 1

Now, how are you going to have more pictures hung up in chos Bar?

And groll than me.

That's what I'm saying.

Like the one that the one that they have of me is like the picture of me from Netflix from Wrestlers where I'm face down after getting down on that after getting hit with an illegal head and an illegal object from al Snow.

That's the the basically the best picture they've got of me in chos Bar.

Well, you know, I don't think you should be too upset you do.

Speaker 2

You are still on the cartoon caricature, which is, by the way, a really cool design, but probably about time Mario and I got added to that thing.

Speaker 1

Maybe Mario.

You probably Mario didn't lead me.

I mean, if you're gonna put Mario and you gotta put me on to no no, no, we leave you outside knocking on the window trying to get in.

That's what I don't like that.

All right.

So Adam Sandler's in town tonight.

You know, we gave away plenty of free tickets to Adam Sandler on the pre show.

Will you go to uh to the show tonight at rup Uh?

Speaker 2

No, I don't have plans to, OK, but maybe I should check with La see if there's any extra tickets.

Is that something that you'd be interested in Shannon.

Should I check and see if she's.

Speaker 1

Got any No, No, I could check on my own.

I know how to do this.

What are you talking about?

Speaker 3

This?

Speaker 1

This is my city.

Speaker 4

Okay.

Speaker 1

If you want tickets to Reperna, you let me know.

Speaker 2

If I ever want to come to the Center of the Palace, you can hip me up with tickets.

Speaker 1

But this is this is my town, you think, so huh.

I've been on in Lexton a lot longer than you pal so slow your rope before you call it your toe.

And next up is Leonard Skinner.

Here it is, let's see what you got.

We'll give you a shift on double Q.

Speaker 2

I'd love to TNT actually approached me one time.

He said, would you be interested in this?

This was before the pre show and all that, and I said yeah, But then it just never really happened.

Speaker 1

So yeah, maybe we need to get back.

He must have heard your demo.

So we got We got scare Fest going on this weekend.

We got the Blue White Game tomorrow.

There's a lot happening in Lesington, so I would imagine traffic is going to be a mess.

Blue White Game tomorrow night.

You're looking forward to that?

I think it's going to be broadcasted on the UK radio network, so you can listen in on the radio if you can't.

Speaker 2

Yeah, they decided to do that yesterday, I think.

So, yeah, I can come in on a Friday night to work a one hour broadcast.

Sure, I'll come in and work the Blue White game.

But yeah, I mean, this is just another domino in the season about to start.

What is Purdue next Friday?

And then after that they play another exhibition game on the Thursday following, So I mean it's here.

Speaker 1

You know, I don't know how much we learn from Blue White, but it is.

Speaker 2

It is another opportunity for those guys to play a little basketball, right.

Speaker 1

Mark Pote was talking about wanting to average thirty three point attempts a game.

Your hand if you've heard this before, we just had this conversations again.

He said this again.

They want to get to thirty three point attempts.

They fell a little bit short of that last year.

I think they averaged around like twenty five.

But he does have a good, you know, a three point shooting team, a lot of depth, as we've talked about.

So maybe we do get thirty a game this year, and that's going to be a lot of fun to watch that.

The only thing is you got to hit those shots.

But you know, Billy, if you shoot thirty a game and you hit forty, I think that's twelve a game.

And it's hard to beat a team that knocks down twelve three point shots a game.

So I think this is going to be another fun, exciting team to watch.

Last year's team was really fun to watch.

I think this year maybe even more so, especially if they're just launching threes all over the place.

Speaker 2

Well, when you have that kind of depth, too, then if it's not somebody's night, then maybe it's another's.

And so that's exciting to hear that the three ball is going to be coming back.

And I guess in a different way, right if Kobe Brao was somebody that took a ton of three pointers last year and I felt like we were screaming from the mountaintops to shoot more from him last year, maybe it's just spread out a little bit more.

But really my eyes go to Trent Noah.

That is somebody that people around the program are saying you will not be able to keep him off the floor.

He has just been that good during the offseason and if that's the case, then he's going to be hitting those threes.

He's going to be the best shooter on the team.

There's a reason they track those analytics during practice, So it's absolutely exciting.

You gotta think Jalen Lowe is hope somebody that hopefully can shoot better than he did last year.

I don't know how much of a three point threat Denzil Aberdeen is, but I'm sure he can launch it from beyond the arc as well.

So no, there's a lot of reasons to be excited.

Colin Chandler is another one of them.

But if Trent Noah can be that guy, then the three pointers can fly to a tune of thirty or thirty five.

Speaker 1

Again, I think most Kentucky fans are kind of shifting their focus towards basketball with the football team struggling.

But Billy, if Saturday Kentucky can somehow pull off a win over Texas, do we shift back to now paying attention to football a little bit more?

Do we do we get some of the fans back on board to keep stoops around if they can somehow pull off a win on Saturday.

Well, you guys made the point.

Speaker 2

I mean, if Kentucky were to beat a Manning and then a National Championship preseason favorite, then absolutely they deserve some praise, some respect, some attention from the fan base.

Does that get me fully back in to Mark Stoops at Kentucky for the next few years?

You know, I'm not sure it would go a long way though probably people tuned back in after a Texas win.

But this schedule is just pretty brutal for Kentucky.

This would be a big step in the right direction.

What do you say, Shannon, are you gonna watch Kentucky a little bit more if they were to beat Texas like this?

Speaker 1

I think so, and I you know, it just feels very Kentucky football to be struggling and then out of nowhere just play somebody tough, you know, like winning against Omis last year, playing Georgia down to the wire and giving them all that they wanted.

Speaker 5

Was that that was.

Speaker 1

Last year as well, So you know, I wouldn't be surprised.

Arch Manning has been struggling.

He is, you know, a guy that hasn't been nearly as good as advertised, and they have their starting center out.

The availability just availability report just came out yesterday.

Kentucky's in pretty good shape.

They got DJ Waller, who's expected to be back at corner for the first time since Week one, and then maybe with Texas's O line banged up a little bit, you know, putting a little extra pressure on Arch Banning.

Who knows.

Speaker 2

Man, Look at the spin that you're putting on this Texas Kentucky game.

Speaker 1

I love it.

I love the optimism oozing from you this time.

I'm not saying they're going to win, but I'm saying, like, if you're trying to talk about a scenario where Kentucky could win and we haven't seen a win at home in the SEC and how long?

Now, that's the thing.

Speaker 2

I mean, it's different playing a team close and it is winning, and Kentucky needs to get over that hump and start winning these games at home or in the SEC in general, after winning one last year versus Ole Miss.

But I don't know, Shannon, what did you think about Mitch Barnhardt's comment said about the buyout and everything.

He seems proud that they signed him to an extension after that four game winning streak before things the wheels kind of fell off.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I don't think that was a good idea, and looking back, on.

Of course everything's you know, twenty twenty hindsight, but it was four and oh after beating not a very impressive list of teams.

It was like Northern Arizona and I can't remember the other ones that were in there.

But it was not like he was four and oh and beat four SEC schools and you know, if you do that, maybe you do go to Stoops and go, hey, here's a nice extension to your contract.

But then they turned around and lost to Vandy.

Was it like a week or two later after that?

Right and it was it was announced I think like right after or right before.

It was just bad timing on the announcement of the Stoops contract extension when that happened.

But you know, I feel like a lot of these coaches, it's not just a Kentucky thing.

It's a college football, college sports thing where these guys are getting these massive buyouts to stick around.

I don't understand why they do that.

And Stoops, if you go back in time and look at when he signed that extension, I think, I mean, I don't.

I don't know that there were a lot of fans just asking for that, you know, like he was doing a good job and I don't know that there were fans that were banging on Mitch Barnhardt's door demanding that he'd give Mark Stoops an extension at that point, but that's what he got.

Well, buyouts do serve a purpose.

Speaker 2

It's you know, if somebody wanted Mark Stoops, they wouldn't just be able to poach him from Kentucky.

That have to pay Kentucky an amount of money to get them.

So it's a double edged sword.

But when Mitch also admits in the conversation that they admittedly were behind on nil, that also tells me that, you know, this is something that the fan base was screaming about that Kentucky needed to get ahead of, and they took the slow and steady approach and hopefully now they're in a good spot.

But that admittedly to Mitch put them behind the April.

You know, I did the Ryan Lemon Show prep method this morning.

Listen to the Leach Report.

Heard Ty Bryant said, this is probably the best week of practice that they've had.

Guys are energized, they're ready to go.

So if you want to buy into that optimism, then this is the week to do it.

Speaker 1

Or you can look at Mark Stoop's record on the bye week's coming off of Buyeweel Terrible pat which has not been good in Texas.

Speaker 2

I mean they still just beat Oklahoma, right, I mean, even though Arch is having a down year and they're not number one in the country, this is still probably a pretty good SEC squad with a good coach and Steve Sarkeesian and boy, it's gonna be crowded in Lexington with everything going on with Keenland.

Speaker 1

Yeah, and now this, you know, this is this is gonna be a biggie.

You think we're gonna have a sellout for the Kentucky Texas game or is it going to be Yeah, there's a sellout, but there's more Texas fans than there are Kentucky.

There might be some burnt orange, no doubt.

Speaker 2

And you know, I still think the fan base is still showing up for Stoops in this Kentucky team.

I don't think they're there yet where they're just not completely not showing up.

But look, we've talked about less home games for season hicket holders and fewer places to tailgate as well, that just the fan experience has gone down.

But you know, nothing would bring us all back like a win versus Texas.

Speaker 1

Kentucky football did get a commitment yesterday.

I saw that some good news from twenty twenty six commitment, first commitment they've had in three months from edge rusher Justin Hartley.

So Kentucky loses a commitment last week, Billy, but they gained one yesterday.

Speaker 2

Yes, hopefully this is a guy that can develop into a good player.

I will note he didn't have another offer from an FBS school, So you know, maybe you look at this as an other diamond in the rough of Josh Allen that can develop.

But this is some good pr at a time that there's not a ton for Kentucky and that may be another part of this, this announcement coming out.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you know, you think are they missing Vince Merrill's recruiting.

I don't know, the jury's still out on that.

You know, when Vince left, if you remember, they turned around and got a commitment like the next day.

But yeah, I think we're going to slowly see over time that we are going to be missing the recruiting of you know, Vince Marrilyn.

How great of a job that he did just just getting guys to come to Kentucky.

Speaker 2

Sure, but a week for Cutter Bully to prove himself once again.

Another week for Seth mcgallan to run crazy now that he's a little bit healthier.

Kentucky has some good pieces.

It's just about putting it together.

It's like my golf game, Shannon.

All right, as as soon as I figure out the driver, the putter doesn't work.

Speaker 1

And if you got one of those wood drivers that you you know, got from my house, it probably would fall apart if you just swung the thing and it made it on the screws.

Yeah, on that club, all right.

So we want to hear from you if Kentucky were to somehow be able to pull off the win over Texas.

Are you back on board with Kentucky football?

Eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven or is it a lost cause at this point?

Are you just over football and ready for basketball?

We want to hear from you and we'll take your calls.

Coming up next, it is the KSR pre Show, Welcome Back.

It is the KSR pre Show.

Shanning the Dude, Billy Rutlige eight five nine two eight ozho twenty two eighty seven.

I just saw where they had the world Championship Pumpkin Contest.

Billy, You know I was a pumpkin farmer this year, and my biggest pumpkin probably got to, like, I don't know, somewhere between forty and fifty pounds.

You want to take a guess at how much the championship pumpkin weigh in this pumpkin contest?

Speaker 6

Oh?

Speaker 1

Man, I don't even know where to start.

I mean, just take a guess.

Pumpkins, you know you've seen them before.

How much do you think the biggest pumpkin in the Championship pumpkin contest weighed?

I mean, like seven hundred pounds, eight hundred pounds, like three times that two forty six pounds.

Jeez, the championship pumpkin, I mean that's like the size of a Volkswagen.

If you look at this thing, it's it's massive.

They say the owner gets nine dollars per pound.

Wow, that's so don't make me do math, but that that's that's a lot of money sure for growing up pumpkins.

So that's my goal for next year.

We got to get one big enough to put into the World Championship.

Speaker 2

And how do you transport that thing?

Like, you've got to have the fork lift.

I mean, I don't know real grown men involved.

That thing moved anywhere.

Speaker 1

You'd have to move it into trailer geez.

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I mean steroids is what you need to give your pumpkins to get to.

Speaker 1

How much did you say?

Twenty five hundred and forty six pound three hundred?

Speaker 5

Wow?

Speaker 2

Yeah, well that is a championship pumpkin.

That is not any Ricadink did not deserve the title.

Congratulations to that guy.

One person on the text line said, if we went out, I would still want to move on from Stoops?

Am I being irrational?

I would say at this point yes, probably, Yeah.

Speaker 1

I mean, come on, if Stoops want if you want out and you still want him out, you just don't like Mark Stoops like that you got something personal against him.

If he were have went out, that would be a heck of a I mean that would mean he would have to be Texas, he would be Tennessee.

He would beat Florida, Auburn, Louisvile, Vandy, Tennessee Tech.

Speaker 2

I mean, come on, there'd be a lot of momentum going into the off season.

You'd you'd think that the transfer portal would probably go well for you.

If people saw that there was some positive momentum building.

Speaker 1

I do the thing when yeah, I mean, if you go if you want out, you're what nine in three, you're continuing for the football playoffs.

That's ridiculous.

You go from last place to a team that's in the conversation.

Speaker 2

Yeah, And and part of you know, the reason why people would want to move on from Stoops is setting up the roster for next year.

I think if you were to win out, you're setting yourself up favorably for the transfer portal, unlike what the situation might be if they were to lose out.

Speaker 1

Yeah, they'll say, if we want to talk more realistic, what's more likely win out or lose out?

And to lose out by far?

But I think what happens is somewhere in the middle.

And you know we've been talking about that scenario.

If he gets to five and you finish five and seven, that's where Mitch Barnhardt has a decision to make it's five and seven good enough to bring him back for another year or do you pay that buyout.

I think five and seven you got to run it back for another year.

That's the worst case scenario.

You get to three, you get to four, he's gone six, he's in five.

You're right there in that middle ground, and that's where it's going to going to divide this fan base even more if he gets to five and brings Stoops back.

I feel like he's going to if that's the scenario that plays out.

Speaker 2

And it doesn't mean that we don't appreciate everything that he's done for the university in the twelve seasons that came before it.

I don't know if it's a situation of you don't know what you got till it's gone.

It's more of, you know, we've just spent a lot of time together.

It's time to just go our different way.

Speaker 1

And I think a lot of people that are already kind of, you know, not happy about the contract as it is for Mark Stoops.

You get to five and you bring them back another year, that's going to just infuriate fans with Barnhart if that happens.

But I kind of feel like, if you get to five, Billy, I mean, you don't have to bring them back.

But don't you think that he's going to.

Don't you think that's the.

Speaker 2

Based on the comments that he just made about the buyout, and you know, his confidence and stoops.

Yes, you know there are you know, rocky times that they have worked through in the past, and then we'll continue to do.

So that's Mitch standing by his guy.

And that's what more AD should do, honestly, is be transparent and talk like that about their coaches.

But at the same time, it's Penn States firing their coach after three losses, and the sense of urgency is there is just a lot different than here At Kentucky.

Speaker 1

All right, the phone lines are loaded.

I ask the question, and if Kentucky were to win this Saturday, pull off a win over Texas, are you back in on football or are you just over it at this point?

Are you ready for basketball season to start?

So let's go to the phones.

Let's talk to Brent.

Hey, Brent, what's up that Brent?

Speaker 5

Hey, guys, good morning listen.

So, you know, look, as far as being in or out on this coming Saturday, look, I'm never out on Kentucky any sport, you know what I mean, Like, I'm a diehard UK fan.

Speaker 3

You know.

Speaker 5

The crazy thing Billy said it right before you know it came on, is that.

Look, we are grateful for what Mark Stoops has done.

And it's not that we have a problem with Mark Stoops at all.

Speaker 6

It's just we have a.

Speaker 5

Problem with the state of the program today.

And like, you know, I feel like I would be even happy if they just changed ocs man, Like, like get find an OC who's got a dynamic offense?

Speaker 6

Turn it over to them, Let's try something new.

I don't know.

Speaker 5

I guess that's the thing is.

I just feel like we're just trying to reinvent, you know, the wheel.

Speaker 6

Again and again, and like, you know, using squares to do it.

Speaker 5

I don't know.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I mean the problem is, you know, I mean, Bush Hampden is basically new.

You say, try something new.

I mean, he hasn't been here that long, and we're already talking about getting rid of oro oc and you know, again, it goes back to the revolving door of offensive coordinators that we've had since Mark Stoops has been here.

And at some point you have to stop pointing the finger at the offensive coordinators and start pouring them at the head coach.

Yeah, and what's the definition of insanity?

Speaker 2

I mean, how many times his Mark Stoops changed offensive coordinators?

And you even got one that's in the NFL now and is the hot coaching candidate, and you know he did well, but he was ready to move on.

Speaker 1

So how many times can you do that?

Speaker 2

And also, you know, I'm not rooting against Kentucky either, there's some in the fan they probably want Kentucky to lose so they can move on from stoops.

I don't think I'm ever going to be that guy.

You know, I'm just like the caller.

I'm you know, all in.

I want them to win every game.

So like, I think that sentiment is getting mistrewed a little bit.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

Speaker 1

I mean, if you're a fan that's pulling against Kentucky football, then you're not a fan, right, I mean, you're just not.

I don't care, like what.

Speaker 2

Even if it's for the better of the program.

Yes, you still agree.

I agree.

Speaker 1

I mean the program would be better if they won, so why would you want them to lose?

Exactly that?

Those counterproductive Let's go to Casey Hey, Casey, Hey, sailors.

Speaker 4

Good morning.

I just wanted to say, grass, I'm Show one thousand.

I'm so proud of you guys and appreciate you all keeping me company every day.

KSR has brought so many incredible people into my life, and I'm just forever grateful.

There's nothing I'd really say about football that hasn't been said.

But I'll still be watching and cheering.

I hope that I hope that we go you know, went out, but I don't see that happening.

But basketball is in nineteen days and I'm super excited about that.

But the reason I called there's two weeks until Halloween and I've been struggling to find scary movies that I haven't seen.

Speaker 3

Do you all have any good.

Speaker 4

Scary movies, especially ones that are like kind of goofy Netflix ones that you might not.

Speaker 6

Have heard of?

Speaker 4

And I appreciate you guys so much.

Speaker 3

Have a great day.

Speaker 1

Thanks for the call, Casey.

I don't know.

I don't know what you've seen and what you haven't seen.

For me, I go classic movies, even though I've seen them a hundred times.

Billy, I go through all the Halloween movies.

I start at one, and I go through all the Halloween movies with Michael Myers, and then I guess, like the Nightmare on Elm Street.

You know, all the classic ones.

Those are the ones that I watch.

So I haven't really seen like a good new scary movie in a long time.

Speaker 2

Do you have any watch like you watch like Psycho or anything like some of the older crazy ones.

I might turn it on.

You know, they're always on TV.

Watch scary movie, the parody scary AMC Fearfest has a marathon going on.

Check that out.

Speaker 1

We'll be right back.

All right, welcome back.

It is the KSR pre show Taylor Swift bringing us back right here.

I'm playing Taylor Swift, Billy, because did you see the new class that you can take at the University of Lovelle?

No, but I mean I can guess there is a new class at u of L that you can now take called swift Onomics.

You can get real credit hours, Billy for taking a Taylor Swift class where you study her career and like the ins and outs of like I guess, the music industry, and like her concert ticket sales numbers and a whole thing where you just go to class and you learn about Taylor Swift.

Can you believe that u of L is actually giving people the chance to get credit hours for college by studying the career of Taylor Swift.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I thought it might be a little Swifty history.

You're telling me it's swift Onomics.

I mean, where was this class when I was in college.

It sounds like a free a, doesn't it.

Speaker 1

I mean, yeah, we talked about North Carolina having fake classes.

I mean, does this can I guess it is a real class?

So, I mean, but come on, I mean, if you're looking for a like you said, an easy A.

Aren't you taking swift to nomics?

Speaker 6

Well?

Speaker 1

Yeah, but is this like an elective?

Is this like something?

I don't think it's a requirement that everybody has to take swift onomics to graduate at U of L.

Well, you know, I don't know.

Speaker 2

It just just seems odd.

We're getting weird college classes throughout this country.

Remember Kentucky, Kentucky's doing AI.

Yeah, yeah, did you know that's a little bit more practice?

Did you not have anything like that?

Speaker 1

And by the way, I would make fun of the Taylor Swift class, but there's one group of people you do not mess with in this world, and that's the Swifties because they'll come at you like a mob and droves.

You don't mess with the swiftiest fans of dogs.

Yeah, and I got to I want to talk about that in just a minute.

There's a new video that came out.

We'll get a minute hang on.

But I want to ask you, though, did you have any kind of like weird class that you took at Western Kentucky?

Because I had one that I thought was kind of like, like, really, this is a class at Bellerman.

Speaker 2

No, not that I can think of, you know, I took Spanish and I just used so much of.

Speaker 1

That, but that's practical.

Spanish is practical.

Speaker 3

You know.

Speaker 2

The best class I took was a public speaking course, and that was that got me out of my comfort zone, totally agree.

Man, got me to where I'm at today when it comes to my profession.

And that wasn't required in my major.

So that was definitely the most beneficial class for me.

What was your weird class?

Speaker 1

So mine was called Film Studies at Bellerman and it was just on the Coen brothers.

You know who the Coen Brothers are producing movies.

So yeah, so so for a semester.

You know, if you're a baseball player like I was, you're always trying to get the easy classes as your electives.

So you know, baseball players talk like, hey man, you got to take this class.

This class is really easy, or this professor doesn't matter what you put on your paper, they're going to give you an A.

So take this class.

And all the baseball guys were taking a class called film Studies where you went in there every day and you watched Cohen brother movies.

That's all.

So like raising Arizona, big Lebowski, I can't remember the other ones.

But we got college credit hours to sit there and watch The Big Lebowski and just break down like the themes of the movie.

And that was that was my introduction to the dude, The Big Lebowski, you know, and all the well, that was the first time you saw it.

The first time I'd ever seen that movie was it Bellerman.

So I'm not going to quite put it on the level of Swift on nomics, because I think a Taylor Swift class is even more ridiculous than film studies.

But I think that was as close to uh, you know, ridiculous class that that I took in college.

You jogged my memory.

Speaker 2

My minor was athletic coaching, so I had to take baseball coaching, basketball coaching, football coaching, same same boat as you.

You know, athletes they want an easy class, so they'll take something like this, and so I had a football coach run that football coaching class.

We just watched football highlights from the weekend before there you go.

We've watched Western games as our tape.

So I mean that was a lot of fun.

Speaker 1

I'm told that the like, literally the year after I graduated from high school at Bullet East, they started doing a class called the History of Chocolate.

We just learned about chocolate.

So yeah, if you're a U of L student, maybe sign up for US swift do Nomics next time eight five, nine, twenty two eighty seven.

Let's go to Josh.

Hey, Josh, what's up?

Speaker 6

Hey, how y'all doing this morning?

Speaker 1

They we're doing great?

Speaker 6

Well.

Well, if Mark suits even does beat Texas or if he does win out, I'm ready for him to go, just like I was ready for Caliber to go even if he want well you you know you all had a conversation with caliberia if he won the NASA Championship.

I was ready for it.

Speaker 1

So if Mark Stoops goes nine to three, is in the is in the college football playoffs, you want him to go?

Yes, how can you justify that?

Speaker 5

It's I'm just I'm just just burned out on you're burned out on him.

Speaker 1

But I mean, if he takes it to the college football playoffs for the first time in school history, which, by the way, this is a ridiculous conversation because you and I, Josh know that this is not going to happen.

But if it did happen.

But if it did happen, how can you sell the guy needs to go.

Speaker 6

Well, I'm just ready for him to go.

Speaker 1

I understand, Okay.

Speaker 6

I mean I hate, I hate to be like that, but you know I'm ready.

Speaker 1

But you know, yeah, you're not the only You're not the only fan.

I mean, there is a small portion of the fan base who is like that, but I feel like even they would flip if it really happened.

But there's a portion of our fan base that if Mark Stoups brought world peace to us all they would still want him gone.

So, Josh, I appreciate the call.

Thank you, Thank you, Josh.

Speaker 2

And I mean Cal talked down to the fan base into the media at the end of his tenure, but if he was winning national championships, you put that to the side.

He's doing his job.

You know, I think that's a little ridiculous.

Speaker 1

Let's go to Jacob Hey, Jacob.

Speaker 7

Hey, guys, uh again, like, uh, you know, everybody's talking about the wrong thing.

You know.

Mitch Barnhart, you know, gave the Cal contract awful contract, the Stups contract, awful contract.

When general manager in a professional sport has too as a bad contract, he usually gets fired or he's gone.

Yeah, why are we not talking about you rid of this guy, He'd gotta go.

We have got to get somebody in there who is as passionate about the football as they are about the basketball.

And it goes all the way across the board.

Man, this is just getting ridiculous.

Speaker 1

So you say we got to get rid of the ad.

That's what That's what Jacob says.

You know, I don't know how many more years Barnhart will be around anyway before he retires.

But whoever that next hire is, though, I mean, I would love for it to be Dwayne Peevie, but I mean, whoever it is has got to be.

I feel like, well, if it's not Dwayne Peeve, get somebody the younger and maybe innovative and really passionate if you can.

Speaker 6

Well.

Speaker 2

Look, I mean, in hindsight, the lifetime contract with Cal, the you know contract extends with Bowl games for Stoops, and the increase in buyout, maybe in hindsight do look bad.

But if you are going to be negative about some of the things Mitch has done, you have to be positive.

He was also the one that got Cal to come here and Stoops.

He's also hired at Rockstar and Kenny Brooks Skinners won a national championship.

I mean, ad is much more.

People just contracts with football and basketball.

People seem happy with Mark pope'shire.

Mark pope hire seems like a home run.

And now you know he has he had some misses in the past.

And are those contract extensions not great for Kentucky?

Speaker 6

Now?

Speaker 2

Sure, but it would be unfair to not bring up those positives as well.

Speaker 1

Let's go to Matt te.

Speaker 3

Maatt, Hey, guys, what's up.

I'm out here in the garden.

They just finished my meditation.

Speaker 1

Yeah, every day on certain days.

Speaker 3

No, I do it every day when as soon as I get off work, when I pulled into the house, I go out to my garden and check my papers and I got still got some tomatoes and and I take my shoes off and and I'm meditate, you know, just do my breathing and connect with the grant with their you know.

Speaker 1

So is that a rainer shine thing?

And then secondly, how long do you meditate for?

Do you just meditate until you just feel like you you're ready to go?

Speaker 4

There?

Speaker 1

Ros?

Speaker 3

Well, it just varies.

I really just enjoy being out here.

I have a big garden and I just love just hanging out out here and and I take I'll take an app because I work real early.

I start real early in the morning, and I'll sit down, take a nap after my meditation and and just enjoy listening to nature.

I know it sounds weird, but I love it.

Speaker 1

Do you have neighbors, Because if I looked over in my neighbor's garden and he was laying there, I might think that he was dead.

I might you know, I may call for the medics.

Speaker 3

Now I live in not County.

We I have private property.

This is all I can.

I could be out here in my underwork if I wanted to, you know, nobody can see me.

Speaker 1

What do you have for us?

Speaker 3

Okay?

Anyways, Uh, that that one real sweet collar was calling about a scurry movie.

Uh the Black Phone.

They the first one, and they've come out with a new one.

Man that's really intense, and that I was wanting to, you know, give a suggestion on that.

And I wanted to tell Billy, I've seen your golf swing on your on your Instagram and yeah, you got you doing good, dude, You're doing good.

And uh, y'all have a good day, blast day.

Speaker 1

All right, Matt, thank you.

Enjoy the garden.

There you go, complimented your back swing and says the Black Phone two is a good movie to watch with the check that went.

Speaker 2

Out As a golfer, I should probably meditate more.

It would help my mental game on the course.

But uh, you know, for all the animals that are around your house, Matt, probably to keep your underwear on when you go out meditate in the garden.

Speaker 1

Hey, Kentucky volleyball beats Auburn last night, so they're still undefeated in SCC play or be you talking about maybe a national championship for the volleyball team before the basketball team.

Speaker 6

Boy?

Speaker 2

Man, they've been on such a great run.

How many Top ten opponents have they beaten this year?

I feel like just about all of them except for Nebraska.

I feel like they've had more than five.

So you know, I'm really excited about this UK volleyball team.

Craig Skinner, who we just mentioned, you know, doing great things.

Speaker 1

So you know, I gotta go out to a game is what I need to do.

Speaker 2

I've got to go to Memorial Coliseum and watch these guys, these girls play.

Speaker 1

I know John Short was happy about that, weren't you, John?

John Yess and.

Speaker 6

Re Win that's like we are in three games to one, which is fig games to one.

Speaker 1

Well, we won, that's all that matters, Jean.

Speaker 6

That's right.

Now, who do you play next?

Speaker 1

I don't have the volleyball schedule in front of me.

I don't know.

Well, John, we rely on you for that information.

John, you're our volleyball guru.

Speaker 6

I didn't hear who were playing next.

I don't know.

Speaker 1

You know, it doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter who we play next, because we're gonna beat them.

Speaker 2

They play Florida on Sunday at Memorial Cosseum, John, and I believe that game is on the UK network, So if you wanted to listen to the radio, you could be able to hear that.

Speaker 6

That's good.

In Florida defeated Tennessee last night in volleyball.

That's right, it is okay, all right, Well, there you go.

Speaker 1

There's your update on volleyball.

Speaker 6

That's right, and RECEIVALI be arch Manning by five begins.

I know, I know the arch Manning defeated Oklahoma, but we're gonna be Archmane by five begins.

I hope he's listening.

I hope the whole many families listen to ksorry.

I don't think you know who the only thing you know anything about KSR.

Speaker 1

Oh, they do know Eli Peyton Manning.

They're all sitting around right now sipping their coffee listening to the KSR pre show.

Trust me, they are we know that.

Hey, John, you seem like a positive guy.

Would you want Mark Stoops to be fired or would you want him to stick around for another season?

Speaker 6

I want to stick around.

And retirement age for coaches the University of Tucky is seventy.

That's a long wanted to stay around.

Speaker 1

Age, all right, and then and then when they get seventy, they're out.

That's right, all right, there you go, all right, John, thanks for the call.

Thank you, John.

John says you're welcome here till you're seventy.

Then get the hell out of here.

Speaker 2

Yeah, he's more of an age is when he needs you to go, not like your record.

Speaker 1

Corey Price chimed in.

Speaker 2

He said, this is probably the weirdest class that I took, and sent me a description for geology one thirty Dinosaurs and Disasters.

Speaker 1

Okay, well, I mean at least there's like some historical element like history too.

Yeah, Swiftonomics.

I feel like that's just a professor who is a Taylor Swift super fan and wanted to create a class that they could talk Taylor Swift to and get, you know, get away with calling that work.

Speaker 2

Now, is that a complete waste of time or do you think there's lessons to take away from that that you can use in your adult life?

Speaker 1

I mean, unless you're gonna become a billionaire pop star, probably not.

I don't think we can relate too much to Taylor Swift.

Speaker 2

But here's the time she hit in a popcorn machine so she could escape Arrowhead Stadium without having the paparazzi.

Speaker 1

See that's right, just Swiftonomics.

That's right.

A five nine, two eight, twenty two eighty seven.

When we come back after the break, we got to talk about this Mookie Betts who plays for the Dodgers.

You know, they were just in Milwaukee for a couple of games in the National League Championship Series.

But Mookie Betts's wife was traveling with him, but she refused to stay in the team hotel.

Why, I'll tell you coming up after the break.

We'll be right back, Oly Peter.

Final segment of the KSR pre show tonight, Game three of the National League Championship Series Brewers and Dodgers.

Now, Billy I was talking right before the break about Mookie Betts and his wife traveled with him to Milwaukee for the first two games, but she refused to stay in the team Hotel, Billy because she claims that the hotel is haunted Hotel Fister Fister Harley Nor.

She said that there were lights that were going on and off in the room, she heard footsteps around her, and she said, Nope, we are not staying in this hotel.

So Mookie Betts had to book a hotel somewhere in Milwaukee outside of the team hotel because she claims that the hotel was haunted.

Do you think she's crazy or do you think there's any truth to this at all?

Speaker 2

You know, I'm somebody that if I see all that going on, I'm messing with it.

I'll go stay at a motel that doesn't have the lights flickering or somebody whispering my name when I try to lay down to sleep.

I mean, it's just my peace of mind.

I'll pay a little bit more for a non haunted hotel.

But is this a heady play by Milwaukee?

I mean to I mean, I guess it's not them that's deciding what hotel room they're staying in, right, I mean, this is just what the Dodgers have decided to say, and.

Speaker 1

It seems to only be Mookie Bett's wife that's complaining about this.

I mean, you hear footsteps, I would argue, well, there are you know, a bunch of other people staying in that hotel too, right, and you know, walking up and down the hallway, so maybe you're hearing footsteps from outside the hallway.

But if you remember in Oklahoma City, there's the Scurvin Hotel where there were players I forget which team it was that was that were playing the Oklahoma City Thunder in a playoff game, and they said they were up all night because they were being haunted by these ghosts at the Scurving Hotel.

They said there was like a ghost that was getting in bed with them, like moving the sheets around.

Do you remember the story that I'm talking about?

Speaker 6

I do.

Speaker 1

I do remember this because we actually went We stayed there for KSR on one of our road trips.

We went through Oklahoma City and we were like, well, we're here.

We had to stay at this haunted hotel at the Scurvan and Ryan was my roommate and he slept with the lights on all night because he was scared of the ghost that might come.

Speaker 2

Now, was that like the weirdest place that you've stayed on a KSR road trips?

Speaker 1

I mean I got to think that the Dollhouse was up there.

Okay, there was no.

There was one that was like a boutique that we stayed at, Okay, and each room had a different theme.

And there was that one, and then there's like a quilt room when they had like like these old like quotes that looked like you know, your grandma made them, and that was what was on the bed.

You had one room that was the ballroom where you're sitting there and there's like creepy dolls just all over the room.

There was one called the Needle Room.

So this was by I forget which state that's in, but it was like that was one of those nights ride I don't even if I want to go to sleep.

Speaker 2

That's a horror movie.

Yeah, Casey's looking for recommendations.

Go on a trip and stay there.

You can get a scare of your life, no doubt.

Speaker 1

So yeah, maybe it was a ghost running up and down the hallway, or maybe it was Kirk Herbstreet playing with his Peter and balls out in the hallway.

Did you see the story that came out what his dog Peter?

He was throwing a ball in a hotel hallway?

Okay, with his dog Peter?

Thank you?

Speaker 2

What do you?

Speaker 1

What do you think now?

He was throwing a ball up and down the hallway with with with the beloved dog, the golden retriever Peter.

And I mean, are you just allowed to bring dogs into hotels?

I guess maybe there's certain hotels that are pet friendly, but I wouldn't think that it's you know, I would think it would be frowned upon to play fetch with your dog out in the hallway of a hotel.

Speaker 2

Well, here's the thing you turn away Kirk kurb Street and his dog, which would be a natural thing you'd do to anybody, And everybody's gonna get on your case, and people are gonna give you death threats and send you DMS and say, you know, send you terrible messages.

I mean, you can't be on the other side of kirkurb Street and Peter.

But you know what I feel for the people trying to sleep in their hotel room show.

I feel for somebody that's had a long day of traveling.

They just got in and now they have to hear this dog run up and down the hallway psychotic behavior just because kirkurb Street is popular that we're gonna allow this behavior to slide.

Speaker 1

You know, I'm fine with the dog, but I'm kind of with you, like, if you have a dog, you shouldn't just be like playing fetch with it up and down the hallway outside of people's doors while they're trying to sleep.

Speaker 2

So I'm kind of in courtesy.

I'm nothing to do with what you think about dogs.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I think I'm kind of with you on that.

Now tomorrow, Billy, we are out.

We are alive at forty six Solutions, Lexington Green Circle, that's right.
