[SPEAKER_00]: Good, happy, happy new day to you, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever day you're watching this podcast, it's dropping on Wednesday, but whatever day you're tuning in, thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your attention, for your time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for joining the episode and the podcast platform that is helping people every day to go, grow and glow.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're in for a treat today.
[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I can't wait, so let's go ahead and get started.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's pray, God, thank you for this new, [SPEAKER_00]: opportunity of giving to us to to live the life that we've dreamed about that we've prayed about we pray that you would order our steps you would guide us you would lead us my friend who may be listening or watching that's going through battling challenges in life and battling all kinds of things that they may be they can't control help them to give it over to you and know that you're going to help order their steps and Jesus name a man listen one of the things that is interesting is [SPEAKER_00]: how the information highway has become the wild wild west.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Have you looked online lately?
[SPEAKER_00]: And have you seen the amount of experts in all these different areas?
[SPEAKER_00]: Have you seen the influx of people who maybe they've gotten a certificate from a place that's legit, that's awesome, and all of a sudden they brand themselves, they have no experience, they have no receipts as it were, but they now call themselves an expert.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now I get it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because living a day and age where people are desirers of putting themselves, that's so much on a pedestal, but placing their themselves.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I believe in the product that I put out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in what I offer.
[SPEAKER_00]: But some people prematurely put themselves on this level of thought leader.
[SPEAKER_00]: of expert, of, of, I can mentor people in a certain area and it's interesting because oftentimes when you press some of these individuals who prematurely do this, you discover that they really don't have much to offer.
[SPEAKER_00]: And many people that I've run into in 2025, [SPEAKER_00]: Many people who I come in contact with are looking for somebody to follow.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not because they're lazy.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, miss me with that idea.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are people in life.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny because growing up, I loved Charles Barkley.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can miss me with the hate, you can miss me.
[SPEAKER_00]: This Charles Walker you know now has a little bit different back in the late 80s, but Charles Parkley was a undersized power forward.
[SPEAKER_00]: right he's he's he was listed as six foot six but he's probably close to six foot four he was a bit chunky for his height but do could jump out the gym he could rebound and for some reason other as a kid growing up in the south he's from a little town at Alabama I'm from a small town in Louisiana and I thought to myself man [SPEAKER_00]: Because again, and if I told this to her before, I don't apologize because this is the Eugene Hamilton podcast So I hold every right to be able to repeat a story But I was five foot 10 at 13 and that's not astronomically That's not like crazy tall, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: But I was taller than many of my peers They thought to myself, man, wow, okay, and I don't know if I've made myself believe this [SPEAKER_00]: But for some reason, I thought some medical expert told me that I was going to be around six foot four.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so again, I go, look at Charles Buc, I said to myself, wow, I'm going to be like Charles Buc, I'm going to be six foot four long to reassure and never grew another inch.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which was broccoli was pressed one time about some of things he was engaging as a player, some of the language he was using.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he said something that kind of changed my, that's what starts toward him.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the way I looked at him in terms of mimicking everything that he did or said.
[SPEAKER_00]: He said, I'm not a role model.
[SPEAKER_00]: I said, wow.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you put that out there, okay, cool, you choose not to be someone that says, hey, follow my example, and that's cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: But there are people in the world today.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the perfect example of course is Jesus, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: We know that, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: In terms of individual who was without blemish, that walked the earth, of course, we understand that.
[SPEAKER_00]: But on this earth, human beings, I'm saying that we can touch, we can, we can, we can feel that we can, sit at their presence in terms of in person.
[SPEAKER_00]: We oftentimes are looking for somebody.
[SPEAKER_00]: They be can model our game, model our business, model our model, the way we approach marketing or finance.
[SPEAKER_00]: So whatever it is, we look for people that we can model and it's becoming more difficult because there are a lot of frauds out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: on who you put your faith in your trust in, because I heard one person said this way, people are like elevators.
[SPEAKER_00]: They can take you up or they can take you down.
[SPEAKER_00]: People are like elevators, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: They can take you where you want to go, they can take you to the top or they can take you to the bottom.
[SPEAKER_00]: And oftentimes when we are, when we are looking for role models, when we're looking for mentorship.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are several things of benefit when we finally find the right person.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I could do a whole episode on how to find that person, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: On how we should be certain to be put ourselves in the right places and the right rooms.
[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, if I'm looking for someone to model, I typically don't go to places where people are using poor judgment.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're engaged in activities that [SPEAKER_00]: Cloud they're thinking I don't go they're looking for a mentor, but I usually put myself in position at conferences at whatever it is, if you don't have money for all that even at work I find somebody who's been doing a stellar job and I say to myself, what can I do to get close to them so they can give me some of their knowledge to help me up my game raise my bar and get to a place [SPEAKER_00]: It's reputable.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to say product.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about whatever whatever it is that you do whatever it is that you offer whatever whatever it is that a gift and talent you have when I put that out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: How can I ensure There's something that people can stand by stand on and say you know what hmm that's quality.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, that person actually cares about what they put out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: This person actually is interested in impacting lives and not just doing stuff just so they can be popular or or or famous.
[SPEAKER_00]: They actually put some thought in some blood sweating tears in to this product.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I appreciate it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can I can dig it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can appreciate it, but it all starts with my son right now at the age where he's repeating and he's mimicking his daddy, all man, it's scary and it's fun at the same time.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of the things that's interesting is that we all have to find ourselves [SPEAKER_00]: being careless until we know somebody's watching us.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we ought to find ourselves not really putting much thought into how does this look to somebody else until we're put on notice that, hey, you're on camera.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm being facetious with the camera piece, but you're on display.
[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's actually looking at you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever seen somebody on your job or let's just use yeah on your job and they come to work and maybe they do their job, but they don't do a great job.
[SPEAKER_00]: They do exactly the very minimum.
[SPEAKER_00]: They do just enough to get by.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know that person, that person that is not going to sweat anymore than 120 drops that they signed that for.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to do anything extra, which I'm not saying you have to, I'm just saying, you know that person.
[SPEAKER_00]: That individual who's going to show up, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like two minutes before it's time to clock in.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're at the, I mean, you don't have really the clocks anymore, but they are out the door at 301.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're gone.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can see smoke from their tailpipe because we get off at three.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm outta here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I've ever seen the person, they're on the other side of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't leave us to the job it's done.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's funny because I was kind of sharing some insight, but somebody other day, and they were like, man, you know, I want to leave it three o'clock too.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, well, how are you managing between eight and three?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oftentimes, your ability to leave early after having this day late is predicated on how [SPEAKER_00]: What do I do?
[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, my wife was cooking the other day.
[SPEAKER_00]: When she finished cooking, she declared that once I sit down, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I should, I'm gonna give it his last scoop of rice.
[SPEAKER_00]: Once I sit down, I'm done in the kitchen.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I knew how much work she had done.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I say to her, I ask her, oh, okay, do you want me to do the dishes?
[SPEAKER_00]: She said, oh, there are no dishes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, what?
[SPEAKER_00]: You've been over there cooking and you've been putting this in this pot and this and this air fryer and you've been doing this over here, oh yeah, but I've been washing dishes along the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, she's been maximizing her time in the kitchen when she's finished with one pot.
[SPEAKER_00]: She goes right to the sink and I'm not paying attention to her, but apparently after she was done, she reported to me that, hey, there are no dishes, he could just sweep the floor.
[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing that's to do is to sweep the floor and take the trash out.
[SPEAKER_00]: The dishes are done, they're put away, that's another words, she managed her time, she maximized her time and her efforts so that when she was finished serving food, there's nothing else for me to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would like to model somebody like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: mentorship role models.
[SPEAKER_00]: You got to ask yourself, are you somebody that people don't mind following?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've been, um, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was really tired yesterday at the gym.
[SPEAKER_00]: And, um, I don't know for a second, I dropped the piece of paper towel and my first mind was to [SPEAKER_00]: You really have the tile dispensers day after you wash your hands.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you thought that the paper towel that didn't trash can.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was so tired that I dropped the paper towel.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody was in the bathroom.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I dropped the paper towel and I took off walking.
[SPEAKER_00]: I got to the front door and there's almost like God came down and said, boy, you know better than that.
[SPEAKER_00]: you don't represent me or yourself like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Even though you didn't see anybody looking that you could see, I'm always watching.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you want to be somebody because character is built, hear me out, when people are not watching.
[SPEAKER_00]: integrity is developed, not when the lights are on, it's when people are not watching.
[SPEAKER_00]: And just like that person, I just told you that's your job, that you know does the bare minimum, watch that same person when the supervisor shows up, or when somebody with a big title shows up, man, it's like a whole different person.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're late, they're coming early, they're doing the most, and you're like, why don't you do this all the time?
[SPEAKER_00]: So I walked myself back to that bathroom, picked up that paper towel, and I felt so guilty.
[SPEAKER_00]: I took some more paper towels, and I began to wipe the counter down, the water that was behind the sink, right, because that's not me.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't make an excuse that, oh, you should make the excuse that because I'm tired, I'm gonna lower the bar.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, yeah, you should make the excuse that because I'm tired.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I'm not expected to give my best.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't make the excuse, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Because you know this, I speak for a living.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there are days that get off an airplane, there are days that take a red eye, gotta go right to where I need to speak or train.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm dead tired, but I gotta give the same energy [SPEAKER_00]: I gotta show up and give my very best because these people are, are, are, have paid money, are these people are sitting there waiting there anticipating a good product.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't use the fact that, hey, I'm doing, I can slack on my job, slack on my calling.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because people are looking for individuals that they can confide in, [SPEAKER_00]: And most of it is based on your character and your track record.
[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the ways is you can find people that are living the part, are doing what they say they're going to do, are going above and beyond.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny because I remember I finished [SPEAKER_00]: I finished college undergrad, and I was trying to find a placement for pastoral ministry.
[SPEAKER_00]: Couldn't find anything to the last minute, and actually they didn't find it, the person and charge, the CEO came to me.
[SPEAKER_00]: man, how did you even know about me?
[SPEAKER_00]: I met him before, but I didn't know that I was on his radar.
[SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've met, we've been in the same room before, we kind of know a few of the same people, but we never had a conversation as deep as it's possible that I have you on my mind for a certain assignment.
[SPEAKER_00]: He said, Oh, man, I went to a place that you served at as an intern two years ago, and I asked the people about you, your work ethic and your product, and you got raving reviews.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unbeknownst to me, he went and checked my stats.
[SPEAKER_00]: Unbeknownst to me, he went and asked people that I didn't get a chance to prep.
[SPEAKER_00]: Prep them for the fact that oh, you can get a phone call.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can get a visit from someone so so make sure you say X, Y, and Z I didn't do all that and thank God.
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have to do all that because my reputation was of such And not just my reputation my receipts The work I put in people like oh, yeah, he's a good dude.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, mm-hmm You can do a great job for you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, man based on how he operated here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll give him a rating a plus [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, now that I know that you're considering him, one person, now that I know that you're considering him, if you don't hire him, I've got some worse for you.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I didn't know you're going higher, but since you brought his name up, and he was here doing a great job, if you don't hire him now, because I'm telling you, he's the man for the job.
[SPEAKER_00]: Check it out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Try to be somebody that people don't mind putting their name on the line four.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're looking for somebody, I'll aim with this, that you can follow trust, because mentorship matters, role models matter.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're professional groups, that you can find online at your job.
[SPEAKER_00]: offered because there are people who are actually looking for somebody to mentor.
[SPEAKER_00]: Talking to you, you can use online platforms.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can join certain groups.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can go to network and events.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can look across the cubicle.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look on the next assembly line.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look next door and the next classroom.
[SPEAKER_00]: When I was a substitute teacher, there was a [SPEAKER_00]: When I went to in her office and asked her for, I went into her classroom and asked her for guidance.
[SPEAKER_00]: See was happy.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm super gonna come to me and say, hey, hey, I give guidance.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know you knew I'll give guidance.
[SPEAKER_00]: I give I give support.
[SPEAKER_00]: I help give in two tips and two.
[SPEAKER_00]: She wasn't gonna offer that like that, but because I asked.
[SPEAKER_00]: She responded.
[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, I hope this week as episode has been of impact to you.
[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that you've, you see the importance.
