Episode Transcript
Day twenty of the Twilight Zone podcast at Van Khalan and our old friend al Sharedzmas says, we think of Twilight Zone episodes as always having a twist at the end, but not all of them do.
So, which is your favorite non twist episode and why so I'll hand over to you Zac.
Speaker 2You know this was hard because it's true not every episode has a twist.
And then you think to yourself, what is a twist?
Like is a reveal a twist?
Right?
What defines a twist, especially in this context, in this format.
But you know, I guess I'd go with it's a good life because there's no twist.
There's no moral message.
I think he says that in the episode as well, just to terrifying, like what if of that reality?
Yeah, just this kid has powers and he's taken over this town and it's going to be that way forever.
No twist, just here it is right, submitted for your approval, as he says.
Right, So, yeah, you know, I'd say a lot of episodes don't have twists.
But thinking about it now, it's hard to think of them off the top of my head, I guess On Thursday, with Leave from Home Too, I guess, right, just a conclusion to that escalating power play they've been building towards, right, It just it's just kind of a yeah.
And stories that's the thing, right, I mean, twist stick with you, right, But stories that come to like natural conclusions also stick with you because everything just comes together perfectly.
And I think that's that's a case for something like on Thursday, we'll leave for home.
So those are the ones that come to the top of my head.
I mean, those are some of the best episodes.
That's another reason they come to the top of my head.
Speaker 1The thing is, I was exactly the same.
I was probably second guess on myself too much as to what actually constitutes a twist, because I was thinking, well, the Odyssey of Flight thirty three, is that really a twist?
They just keep on flying, you know, But is the twist the fact that they end up is like this airplane version of the Marry Celeste or whatever, you know, Is that a twist?
So it's really tricky when you've got to try and define what a twist is.
So I took the same route as Uzac, But I also think it helps that it's a good life is genuinely top ten for me.
So you were absolutely right that the kind of whole point of the end is that there's no twist.
It's like, there you go, this is what happened, and Rod's close and narration have actually got it here, he says, no comment here, no comment at all.
We only wanted to introduce you to one of our very special citizens, little Anthony Fremont, aged six, who lives in a village called Peaksville, in a place that used to be Ohio.
And if, by some strange chance you should run across him, you'd best think only good thoughts.
Anything less than that is handled at your own risk, because if you do meet Anthony, you can be sure of one thing.
You've entered the twilight zone.
So what a great closing narration.
It's like you say, it's just like there it is, man, And if you end up here, you know, yeah,
