Speaker 1

Bad common then common then no show people solid plan seit aproach will fail to in.

It's time for common man, Come man, common then charge of houseless like no one can.

Speaker 2

Shoot where we play's nonsense on activated man, It's time of common man.

Speaker 3

Oh boy, why should anybody aspire to be a common man?

An average man?

Do you realize what it means to be average?

Speaker 2

That means you're the.

Speaker 3

Best of the lousiest and the lousiest of the best.

Now, if we demand more and more for producing less and less while they have not, nations encourage and inspire, and indeed require hard work and maximum effort.

If we deify the common man while they encourage and reward the uncommon ones, well, the result of such a lopsided race as that is too obvious to require elaboration.

Speaker 2

I mean, it's like, hello, some joker was gonna write about what kind of game.

He said it was gonna be crack straight up cash cash out, cash you, cash out, cashing, cash out, cash cash.

Speaker 3

Out, cash out, cash out, cash out, cash out, cash out, cash out, cash cash, cash cash out, cash catch out.

Speaker 4

Cash Yeah, Rosie, I didn't say that common.

Don't put words in my mouth.

Speaker 5

Ladies and gentlemen, we're seeing what a sophisticated offensive looks like.

Speaker 2

You talk about boy who said?

Speaker 1

Well?

Speaker 2

Who said it was a nice run?

Speaker 6

Woman's on the way part of your tyman?

Speaker 4

Yeah?

Speaker 2

Baby, and listen I always lovely?

Yeah baby, where's that going on yet?

Speaker 4

Today?

Speaker 2

Jesus, we're happy for you.

They can't pitch, they can't ship.

Speaker 6

What is what I need to come?

Wrote that?

Speaker 5

You don't know nothing.

Speaker 7

He's the clown from Brown, He's the fourth in the north.

Speaker 2

Is the common man, Dan Cole?

You only bring it up.

Speaker 8

It doesn't really matter much to me.

It doesn't mean that much to me to mean that much to you.

You know what song that's from Tennedy.

It's a brilliant it's a brilliant lyric.

Speaker 2

Think about it.

It's it doesn't mean that much to me to mean that much to you.

I recognize the lyric, I just can't place it with the song keeps me searching for a heart of gold.

Yeah no it's not.

It's the old Man.

It's from old Man.

Take a look at my life, mama, like you, that's what it's from.

Quite the falsettle you got there?

Thank you?

Speaker 8

Not as good as yours?

Every day we just get all sorts of topics dumped into our lapse.

Vikings quarterback controversy continues.

The bye is here, the wild, The Wolves are off the Wolves.

Last night Aunt was there.

Speaker 2

He played.

Speaker 8

We lose it overtime to Indiana.

Two teams that don't like each other very much.

So many topics to get to, Hi, I'm not sure where to start.

Let's spin the wheel of.

Speaker 6

Topics Commons golf games.

Speaker 2

What did you shoot today?

Speaker 1

Uh?

Speaker 2

Seventy six trombones?

Boom, boom boom.

I'm playing.

Speaker 8

We played at Loggers Trail where you hit it right up the gut I'm playing.

I had a seven iron in my hand.

Speaker 2

I should have been.

Speaker 8

I'm now hitting my ball again now that I'm swinging the proper way to all my checklists and not being fidgety and jumpy, and and I'm now hitting my niner and one hundred and thirty yards again.

There have been times this year where my seven irons one hundred and thirty yard club?

Speaker 2

How bad is that?

I just I could go over a shop.

Speaker 8

I might even start a common Man Daily Round podcast so I can really dive.

Speaker 2

That's what I thought.

Speaker 8

I thought that would be one of those trending kind of podcasts, The common Man Daily Golf Round podcast where I go in depth, you know, not just going over each shop, but what I'm thinking prior to each other.

Speaker 2

Look, do you have a headache?

Look like you were just found blubb.

You were doing the old.

Speaker 8

You're just thinking?

Why am I here?

He's talking about his golf round again.

Yeah, I can't help but that the topic came up on Man's Golf Game.

Speaker 2

I hit so many and you know I but I did.

Speaker 8

I made three consecutive movies, and each one two of my hit bad chips and won a bad wedge.

I let a shank I shouldn't even say the word from last week get into my head.

On sixteen, I had seventy four yards and I thought, this is the exact same yard as I had last week when I shanked this fifty four degree three quarter knockdown punch cut fade wedge, and so I chicken winged it and got it halfway to the green and then couldn't get up and down.

Speaker 2

But here's probably what happened.

Speaker 8

After I made a brilliant up and down from behind the green on the par three thirteenth, again I hit it too good again, I'm just puring the ball.

I got to readjust my distances on my.

Speaker 2

Your scores are off, but you're hitting a grape.

Yeah.

Speaker 8

And I was thinking about how I was when here's this is how far ahead of myself I got.

This was probably the problem when you when Dark was going to ask me if it landed on wheel topic, what you did.

If Dark was going to ask me, what'd you shoot today, I was going to say I had an experience that was not unlike that of a PGA Tour player, because that's where I thought I was going.

I mean, I vogied the first two holes and then I parred three, four, five, six, and seven birdie eight.

I hit a hybrid into three feet.

Then I parred nine, ten, eleven, twelve, and thirteen.

I'm one over stand that I'm fourteen tea box, thinking, well, fourteen's at short par for the one that you almost drove that day.

I'm thinking I'll make par here maybe Bertie.

I'm thinking I'm shooting seventy or seventy one is what's going through my head.

Speaker 2

And I got ahead of myself and you can't do that in the game of golf.

But it was fun.

Speaker 9

We take it.

Speaker 2

One shot at the time is what.

Speaker 8

You need to do, yes, sort of like remember the show One Day at a Time with Valerie Burtonelly.

Speaker 2

I do not know tend Toby.

Which famous rock star was Valerie Burtonelly married to at one time?

Speaker 8

He's dead now no idea.

Eddie van Halen O Eddie?

The answer would be who is Eddie van Hayle.

I didn't even know eddivan Halen was dead dead rocks.

I think he is, well, I don't know.

I just don't know him well enough.

Looks like I may have killed him off and he's not even dead.

I think he's dead.

Maybe he's still alive and well, still alive and well every now and then, I know, it's kind of hard to tell you.

Speaker 2

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Speaker 8

Valerie Burtnelly was in a show called One Day at a Time with Michelle Phillips, who was the daughter of the Phillips guy from The Mamas and the Papas, and allegedly this what she claims she was sexually abused by her dad.

Speaker 2

How what a wonderful way to grow up.

And then I don't remember the name of the.

Speaker 8

The mom in the series, but that dad was it was an old eighty show at the seventies or eighty show, something like that.

Major development.

I have some The button bar looks different today.

Have you noticed different colors or something.

Yeah, everything's different.

Yeah, I'll have to show it to you.

Speaker 2

I have give me one second because this is this sounder is needed.

Speaker 8

For this.

Speaker 2

Breaking news.

Speaker 8

Excitement is starting to build in the twin towns of New London Spicer.

Apparently the city council held an emergency meeting last night and they have declared this coming Saturday, meat sauce in.

Speaker 2

Common man day.

Yeah, New London Spicer and the.

Speaker 8

Chamber of Commerce says, you know how I always ask you do you like parades?

They're going to have a parade and meat sauce and I and honor.

You don't believe any of that.

We're still doing comedy.

Even though ticket sales have been tepid.

Speaker 2

We're going up there.

Speaker 8

You know, tickets are still available.

I think we're giving away another paradis where Spicer.

Is that like a Saint Cloud.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it's something that's sort of that.

Speaker 8

Kind of that neck of the woods.

Yeah, well ask Ross and you know him, he knows his, he knows.

It's many Minnesota geography better than anybody.

Speaker 9

He likes.

Speaker 2

He likes to go camping and roughing it.

He'll go up to like Cold Spring, which is up in that area.

Speaker 8

Did you know there's not a grocery store within twenty minutes of where one goes and stayed.

You know, because he's always been an urban guy, he's never lived in it.

He's always lived in the Mama Saint Paul.

Speaker 2

So wherever he's lived, he doesn't even know, like the suburbs or or the exit.

No, no, he has no idea.

Speaker 8

So where I couldn't tell you, no, no, And so he doesn't realize that sometimes you have to drive a little ways to get to places.

Speaker 2

You know.

Speaker 8

It's like, yeah, if you're if you, if you if you have a if you have a secluded place, very secluded.

That's an old inside joke, very secluded.

Then you sometimes you got to drive twenty minutes to get two groceries store.

It's just amazing you do.

But he was astounded by.

But the good news for Mark when he when he when he travels like that into the wilderness, it's so refreshing because no one recognizes him.

That's That's where I'm hoping people will recognize this in New London.

Speaker 2

Spicer will you more of a New London guy or a Spicer guy?

Speaker 8

Well, I think we're in Spice or proper.

Okay, you know I I but I like them.

Both called them the twin towns of New London Spicers.

So we will be there and I'm i'm uh, I am really truly looking forward to it.

Larry Mandela guy will be our MC and then Saw Sauce will I'm going to close again because Sauce Sauce is he's trying to make a comeback.

He's been working on new material, he claims, and then I reminded him of some of his Oh go back to some of your classic old bits, because now he just goes up there and just starts babbling and wandering around on the stage and then just leaves after seventeen minutes.

But I think he's he's he's told me he's going to put his uh put forth his best effort and he is.

Speaker 2

Rare and to go.

Let's let's regroup.

Speaker 8

That was a very controversial action pack, fast paced for a segment.

We got plenty to get to.

I've not heard from Brian, ok.

He usually texts me and says are we still on for today?

Hey, I have not received that text he texted.

Speaker 2

Me today because he asked me if we were doing rock rank.

Speaker 8

Oh okay, good, so then that means he will be here at twelve thirty.

The legendary Mark Rosen will join us just before two o'clock.

Also five three, four, before the top of the hour.

Other side of the break controversial Viking's News, pizza interesting the purple.

Speaker 2

Speaker 8

Thirty fourteen past I'm common, He's tend to be peek at the Purple is brought to you by a friends at Affordable Electric.

Did you know what's Fire Prevention Safety Week?

And the folks at Affordable Electric can help.

Speaker 5

You with that.

Speaker 8

Your hardwired smoke detectors are very very important.

As a matter of fact, I had Nick out at my place earlier this summer to take a look at my smoke detectors to make sure they were up and running properly.

Speaker 2

Hardware smoke detector beeps to signal.

Speaker 8

Several issues including low backup battery, clog sensor, maybe an electrical problem.

Then they can handle that at Affordable Electric.

Or the alarm reaching the end of its lifespan, so fire National Fire Prevention Safety Week.

So why not get a hold of the folks at Affordable Electric.

Come on and haven't take an inspection of your smoke detector.

Affordable dash Electric dot com.

Affordable dash Electric dot Com Affordable Electric is shockingly affordable.

Speaker 2

Affordable.

Speaker 4

I do a little.

Speaker 2

What do we call that false at tenday?

Speaker 8

This is this is peak at the Purple, but leading off the Peak at the Purple.

Do you think that time is standing still right now?

And here's why I ask you this?

Sometimes yes, yes, hold on.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it does seem like the show just goes.

Speaker 8

On and on and on and really with with no direction, the direction unknown and place go who.

Athletic released it's National Football League Power Power Rankings.

Speaker 2

Power Rankings, and.

Speaker 8

I believe the world is now standing still because guess who is the number one team in pro football according to the Athletic the most City Kitties.

I don't know if they've ever been considered the best team in proof the.

Speaker 2

Last two years ahead of a one point do I think?

I don't know.

Speaker 8

Detroit Lions number one?

Last week they were number three.

Here's what it says.

The season opening loss to the Packers feels like ancient history after four consecutive wins, but the easy part of their schedule is over and a brutal stretch of weights, especially without cornerback Terry and Arnold.

Speaker 2

The next five games are against.

Speaker 8

The Chiefs, the Buccaneers, the Vikings, the Commanders, and the Eagles.

Because the kiddies really haven't you know, you look at strength to schedule.

They beat the Bears, the Ravens, the Browns and the Bengals.

Now going into the season that Ravens Bengals, both of those seem like you know, really difficult games, and I don't had the Ravens lost They lost the one pointer of the Bills for the Kiddies game, I believe, so it wasn't as though they had fallen off the face of the earth they gave the bill or did they lose after the kiddies game?

Do you remember because the Ravens lost back to Bell when they've only won one game they lost to they either lost.

Speaker 2

To the Buffalo game when that was the first game of the year.

Speaker 8

Because I don't remember, That's why I'm asking.

I don't remember.

I can barely remember what I have.

Speaker 2

I can tell you each shot I hit today, if you want me to go over it, I could.

Speaker 8

Anyway, they've not beaten anybody really, to be honest with you, Tampa Bay at number two, what do you think make of that?

Speaker 2

Is that because of that victory or where they just be quality team?

I mean they're a playoff team.

Speaker 7

They've obviously won a bunch of games in dramatic fashion here, so they've they've shown that they can step up when it's Baker Mayfield, can play when the when the lights are on the brightest and they need just good points, they good points so Tampa Bay definitely should be.

You could argue who's number two, But you know, if you want to put him in the top five, top six, I think yes, they deserve to be there.

Speaker 2

Do you believe this?

Speaker 7

I saw, you know, according to my Power Rankings, which is the standings.

Okay, they are tied for the best record in football.

Speaker 2

Yes.

I also saw ESP and yesterday.

Speaker 8

You know, they do these panel shows and they're always asking, you know, questions about this.

Speaker 2

You know, like who's the best at this?

You know, who's the Power rankings for everything?

Speaker 8

Right in issues teams face and one of the questions on the crawl was is Baker Mayfield the top five quarterback in the NFL?

I think I'd made no bones about it for the past few years.

I've been a big Baker Mayfield guy.

Particularly.

Speaker 2

What really struck me more than anything is is.

Speaker 8

Remember when he played for the Browns and he actually lived at at the stadium.

Speaker 2

I mean he would turn off the lights and everything for him.

You know, that was to me, going above and beyond the qual of duty.

But I like him.

He's excited, he's fun to watch.

Speaker 8

Yeah, he'll make he'll he'll he'll try to force the ball into places sometimes that he shouldn't and he's he'll turn it over on occasion, but I like him.

They have Philadelphia ranked at number three tennebe followed by the Buffalo Bills and for there's a lot of.

Speaker 2

Four and one teams.

All of these teams are four and one.

Buffalo's for one.

Speaker 8

The Jacksonville Jaguars are at number five after beating the Chiefs.

They're also four and one.

San Francisco is six, Indianapolis seven.

Speaker 2

They're both four and one.

Then it's Green Bay at number eight.

Speaker 8

They are two one and one, followed by the La Rams at three and two, the Rams at number nine, your Broncos at ten, three and two, Commanders at eleven, Seahawks at twelve, Steelers at thirty team.

The Steelers are three and one, and there's several three and two teams ahead of them, which you know, that's why you know power rankings aren't in exact science and even standards.

Sometimes you look at a three and one team, it spence who they played, right, Just because there's three and one doesn't necessarily mean they have to be ahead of a three and two club.

Chargers Chiefs at fifteen and they're two and three that's the respect they have for them.

Then you're Minnesota Vikings check in at sixteen ten to me, so they're basically the.

Speaker 2

Best of the lousiest and the lousiest or the best.

Speaker 8

Here's what here's the paragraph for the Vikings that reads as follows a well earned and then it has in parentheses and probably much needed break is on the horizon.

After becoming the first team in the league history to play back to back international games in two different countries.

It hasn't been the prettiest start for this team, and the Vikings haven't exactly beaten top teams.

Kevin O'Connell got Jordan Addison rolling late after an early benching, and things trend towards JJ McCarthy coming back after the bye, which again we've been debating, you know, yeah, since since he first sprained his ankle and missed a game.

Speaker 2

I think Mark Craig wrote.

Speaker 8

I think it was Craig because we've had the debate rose in yesterday things absolutely positively, when McCarthy's ready, he should come back in.

Speaker 2

And I.

Speaker 8

Do you think it's a bit more complicated than that, right, or do you think automatically he.

Speaker 2

Should be back in I don't think automatically should be back in.

I'm with you.

Speaker 7

I think what they're gonna do is it's going to get this time this week.

He's gonna start practicing, but they're gonna do the old Well, he's not fully back where he can do all the things that he previously could.

We'll let Carson Wentz get another week.

Speaker 2

Now.

The danger there is.

Speaker 7

If you did want to bring JJ McCarthy back, is it actually better to have him started home against Philadelphia?

Just a little bit easier of an environment.

Offensive line protection is probably gonna be a little bit better at home.

You know, if Carson goes out to play text on Philadelphia doesn't do well, and then you want to make the change.

Now you've got to throw JJ right back in the mix of two road games at LA and Detroit.

Speaker 2

Maybe somebody can help me with this.

I thought it was Mark la is not the most ruckous crowd, right.

I thought it was Mark Craig who wrote.

I know I read it last night.

Maybe it wasn't Mark Craig.

I'm looking through the.

Speaker 8

I'm looking at the fish wrap factory west Side, and I'm looking for the latest from Mark Craig.

But I don't see it, but I think it was either Craig or maybe it was somebody with the Athletic wrote, I wish you could basically that if a guy's on, if a guy's playing well, you stick with them.

You just you don't have to go back to somebody else who was in.

And that's how I feel.

And even that can be complicated as well.

For instance, let's say Patrick Mahomes, who's the backup of Kansas City.

Speaker 2

I believe it's Gardner Minshew.

Speaker 8

Now, okay, so let's say Mahomes gets injured, he's out for three weeks, he's ready to play, and Gardner Minshew's playing playing pretty well.

I don't think you look at Mahomes and have to sit on the bench for a while, Patrick, because Gardner Minshew is on a roll.

Speaker 2

So that you know, every situation has to be treated differently.

Speaker 8

And I'm I'm now starting to believe though, and you're right with with with the way they're they're kind of well, it might be a Remember it was going to be a two three week thing, now it's a four to six or whatever.

Speaker 2

But I still get the feeling that if if he's ready to.

Speaker 8

Go for the vite against Philadelphi, that he will start the game.

I think they're going to force feed him.

And you know, and you could make that what Rosen has and other people, and we got to see what we've got.

I've had some spirited debates with salespeople, you know, all of the say, all the young guys here are all duckies and buddies, and you know, they all want to see what we've got with with uh, with McCarthy, is he for real?

So far what we've seen you probably say, we don't.

But that's only two games.

Speaker 2

We'll see how how that works out.

Speaker 8

A peek at the Purple brought to you by our friends at Affordable Electricffordable dash Electric dot com is your place to go during National Fire Prevention Week.

Affordable dash Electric there shockingly affordable.

Speaker 9

It's Brian Oaks Show podcast.

Yeah, exactly where where can people fight?

That's a great question.

Speaker 3

Comedy.

Speaker 9

Yeah, it's I just did episode five hundred and twenty one and it is available where you get your podcasts, but of course recommended.

The nation's really the world's number one destination for podcasts is the iHeartMedia, our radio app.

Speaker 2

You can find it right on there whenever you like.

Speaker 9

And if you find it and you listen to it and you like talking about music and finding out more about Minnesota and the regent scene, then you will have a deep, rich archive to go back and filter through.

Yeah, we've been doing it.

We're coming up on our six year anniversary, which is crazy.

And it makes money what it makes money, it does you gotta like that.

Speaker 2

I'm like showing up here.

Speaker 9

But you know what, we know what this does.

It doesn't fill my bank account.

It fills my heart account, is what it does.

Speaker 8

And then it does give you a four up tune announce that you're authors.

People are gonna go, hey, you know what, maybe I'll check that out, and then they check it out and then they.

Speaker 9

Go, oh this guy, oh yeah, he does talk too much yeah, No, he does love the sound of his own voice.

But I'm assuming if they like listening to you, then they're probably already okay with somebody who likes the sound of their own voice.

Speaker 8

Ive rock and Roll Hall induction ceremony will be Saturday, November eighth.

Speaker 2

Okay, Well, how did I miss the inductees?

I had no idea.

I guess I might have missed them too, I'm not I didn't realize it was coming up.

Speaker 1

We can.

Speaker 8

Inductees include go On, Outcast, Yeah, Cindy Lapper, huh, Bad Company, the White Stripes, and Chubby.

Speaker 2

Maybe we did talk about I guess maybe.

Speaker 9

We talked about it when it's when they first, like the broader list of nominees got came out because these all sound like familiar names.

But I don't remember hearing that it's been whittled down to those right there.

Speaker 8

Industees are Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Cindy Lapper, Joe Cocker, Outcast, Sound Garden, and The White Stripes.

Musical Influence Award goes to Warren, Zebon and Salt and Peppa Yep, Salt and Peppa and every one of them.

Speaker 2

Musical Excellence Award goes to Peter Frampton.

Speaker 9

Oh well, well again, I got to admit I don't go as deep on the Frampton catalog and legacy as you do.

Speaker 2

But I again that one.

None of these make me mad, and I'm not.

Speaker 9

These are all pepeople who are deserving of lifetime achievement style accolades.

I think they all belong in there now.

The people that are performing.

Elton John who I know who he is?

Speaker 2

Yeah, yes, you do.

Speaker 8

Yes, I've heard of Doja Doja Doja Cap and I couldn't tell you anything about Doja cat a.

Speaker 2

Doja Cat is an incredible young artist.

Speaker 9

She is you know, hip hop, R and B, kind of more hip hop, but definitely something for the kids and the slightly older kids, not for people like you and I.

Speaker 2

That being said, I enjoy a couple of her songs.

Who's Missy Elliott?

Speaker 9

Missy Elliott?

Come on, man, missy Elliott is?

Tenna is going to know who Missy Elliott is.

Missy Elliott is somewhere between this modern era of your Dochies and your Doja Cats and the real old schoolers like Queen Latifa and mc light.

She is sort of spans the gap you know when Diddy when he was at the height of his popularity.

She was also there.

She was one of those people that also hired Hype Williams to do her video.

So she has these groundbreaking videos, but she's also got real talent and real skill.

Went away for a while, then came back a few years later, lost a ton of weight, still could spit her game, and Missy elliott Is is a legend in American hip hop music.

Speaker 8

I did not know.

I'm not a hip hop Following she did a great song that covers Tina Turner's Can't Stand the Rain, which is fantastic.

Speaker 9

But she's also got a song called watch Me Now, not watch Me Now, but oh, I can't think of this song.

Speaker 2

I do like better.

Speaker 8

What was that one of you just said, Tina Turner can't stand the rain?

Can't stand the rain?

Or who will stop the rain?

Speaker 1

Oh?

Speaker 2

Or blame it on the rain?

Or blame it on the rain?

Oh, not that one.

Speaker 9

Although I don't mind, dude, I got a Millie Vanilli story that would curlier your hairs, young man.

Speaker 2

I so we're not going to get any trouble, No, no, no, nothing like that.

Speaker 9

Years ago, in fact, my first or second year in professional radio, I worked at a station call.

Speaker 2

They were the ones that were lip syncing and weren't real they doing and they.

Speaker 9

Got busted, but which again was such a lie because do you know how many people had ringers come in to do their studio performances?

Everybody and so But yeah, no, they were both model handsome and wore tight likera shorts with big chunky boots and had the dreadlocks and did a lot of dancing.

Speaker 2

What's your story?

They were international superstars anyway.

Speaker 9

They So when I first started in the radio, I worked at Rev one oh five and every year there would be an outdoor music festival called cedar Fest over on the West Bank, and one year G Love was playing and I'd been asked to do security.

I've never done anything like this before.

Well you know, I was doing We were all doing so intros or no.

But I just had to stand at the velvet rope essentially at the VIP area and one of the two members I'm not sure if it was Milly or Vanilly, but his real life name was Rob Polaitis and he walked up and I recognized him immediately.

Speaker 2

He was like, hey, man, can I get back there?

Speaker 9

I'd really like to meet g Love, and of course at this point I was young and naive and didn't want to get in trouble and didn't know how the game worked.

Of course, you let Rob Polaitis backstage at some silly, little Upper.

Speaker 2

Midwestern music festival.

I said, I can't do that.

Speaker 9

I did say that, and I did not let Rob Polaitis backstage at a crap he must have aside from the fall of Millie Vanilli, having some young, long haired punk like me telling him, you can't go backstage to me, she love.

Speaker 2

I don't know what I was thinking.

Speaker 9

And then, sadly, the real tragic end of this story is that years later Rob Polaitis took his own life.

Speaker 2

Yeah, so it doesn't have a.

Speaker 9

Happy ending, but I carry shame on that one because I did it wrong well and with the lesson I learned.

But then the guy left, and I just hope I was not a contributing factor.

Speaker 2

I recanted this tale to you and you side it with security.

Speaker 8

It was a number of years ago, four or five, six years ago here at the studio ce performance, and Melissa Etheridge was going to be now Melissa's best days of coming gone, I think right, of course, she was a huge star.

My wife could say the same thing about us.

My wife's a huge fan of SETH.

So she was there, I thought, you know what, I'll go sit in and watch and watch her set.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

So she's hag a couple of Diddy's about.

Speaker 8

Jack and Diane, and then she went to the little green room there and as I was walking back and saying, I'm just.

Speaker 2

Gonna stick my head in there and say, hey, that was really good.

My my wife loves you.

Security guys there, I said, hey, nope, and was it some was it some intern or stand?

Speaker 5

Oh?

Speaker 2

No, it was somebody had security.

And I'm like, I look around.

I'm like, it's I work here at the radio.

It's a radio, I am.

But I'm thinking to.

Speaker 8

Myself, I'm it really, I mean, this isn't like we're at Madison Square Garden and it's chaos and stuff.

It's like and there's thousands of and I just went really said yeah really, I said okay, and I just watched because it wasn't that big of a deal to me, but I just thought, you go, yeah, make it quick and just hey, Melissa, my wife loves you.

Speaker 2

Thank you exactly.

Speaker 9

And I again, so if I sided with security when you first told me that story.

It's not because I think you did anything egregious, but let's be honest.

Managers and handlers their single job is to insert themselves between the public and the artist, right, And so I've run into that a ton of times where I've tried to be like, hey, can I say quick cloat?

Nope, okay, even though I just didn't throw the set.

No, okay, okay, okay.

And so you just you know, that's their job and it doesn't really get anybody anywhere by fighting with them.

So unless it's someone near and dear to your heart and you want to show the artists the tattoo of them that you got, I wouldn't fight it and just move along.

Speaker 8

The last week we talked about the Super Bowl halftime show.

The performer it was announced it's bad bunny.

Correct, not good rabbit, but bad bunny.

Speaker 2

Bad bunny.

If I was an artist, I would because this would get you pr I would I would call myself good good rabbit.

Well, but you know what, no bad bunny.

That means you're like a bad boy.

Speaker 8

No.

What I'm saying is that people would go well, they would have either go well, who's good good Rabbit.

Speaker 2

See what I'm saying.

I would just play off the name.

Speaker 8

I understand to try to do that, but not everybody's thrilled with the choice of bad Bunny on the halftimes.

Speaker 9

Well, and again, I do not want to make this political because it's not really about that.

It's about lack of perspective.

We talked about this last week with the selection of bad Bunny.

Does it make sense why is he on there?

Because the outrage, once again has been wildly outsized for what It's just the super Bowl halftime show, So everyone needs to relax.

And Trump made some offhanded comment a couple of weeks ago about how he didn't even know who that was.

Speaker 2

I did know, the people don't know.

But does that make it a bad choice?

I don't think well.

Speaker 9

US House of Representatives, House Committee, the Speaker, he has come out now, I don't know why the administration is getting involved in Super Bowl halftime entertainment.

Speaker 2

Just kidding.

I totally do, but we're not going to talk about that here.

Speaker 9

But he, the House Speaker of the entire United States, told a reporter that this was a terrible decision and went on to say, quote, he didn't even know who Bad Bunny was, but so you can say it's a terrible decision without having any context or any knowledge whatsoever.

Speaker 2

He what did he say?

He had a great line.

Speaker 9

He said, he sounds like someone who is He sounds like he's not someone who will appeal to a broader audience, which is one of the most ignorant things that's ever come out of any elected official's mouth.

And that's saying something right there.

I just wanted to mention a couple of things that Bad Bunny's done.

He was on SNL this past Saturday, not as the musical guest, as the actual host.

This guy is such a cultural phenomenon here in the US.

Like it or not, whether or not you stay well anyway, what a bad break from he well, but he had a very interesting monologue where he addressed the fact that he wasn't in.

But just a couple of the statistics to let you know, Like I said last week, the NFL is not about making rash decisions or dumb decisions.

They are about growing that multi, multi multi billion dollar empire they've created up to it and including the halftime entertainment for their single biggest spectacle of the entire season, So why would they choose bad Bunny.

Well, he's thirty one years old.

He holds the record for being the first Latin artist to have one one hundred I repeat one hundred career Billboard Hot one hundred songs one hundred one hundred has been meaning that he's either a producer or a performer, or that he's been involved with one hundred, as well as having the very first in all time Spanish album to reach number one on the Billboard two hundred album chart back in twenty twenty with l Ltimo.

He also has tied Taylor Swift's record for the most number ones on the Billboard Global two hundred of any solo artist Taylor Swift.

Speaker 2

That's what a big deal this dude is right here.

Speaker 9

He's also recorded the single most streamed album of all time on Spotify.

Speaker 2

That was his twenty twenty two record Unverano.

Speaker 9

Cn T, and he's consistently one of the most stream global artists, holding the top spot for three consecutive years while wrapping up eighty million monthly Spotify listeners over the course of his career.

Eighty million.

So for them to say, well, he just it makes you think and again, I don't care about the political affiliation of the administration.

First of all, why does the government care about who's playing at the halftime show?

But then to make such wildly ignorant comments on such a massive stage.

Well, I've never heard of him, but he doesn't sound like that kind of person that has a very broad appeal.

You can't pick another name right now.

Well, we're talking about globalism at a time where the NFL is trying to expand their global reach like never before.

You can't tell me another artist that fills the bill better than Bad Bunny to help the NFL reach their ends and their goals.

But to say he doesn't have a broad appeal, it's just it's backwards.

It's super super ignorant.

Speaker 2

I can name one one that would be more popular.

Goskally Wabbit.

Have you ever heard of a Wasskaly Wabbit?

I appreciate what you're doing.

Gaskally Wabbit is my favorite artist.

Speaker 9

I'm believab Do you know who, uh, the House speaker Mike Johnson said, would be a better option than Bad Bunny.

Who eighty three year old singer songwriter Lee Greenwood, who who performed his now legendary song proud to be an American at the one of the most recent conventions for the Republicans.

And also we just you know, you hear his song at least once during every fireworks display.

Speaker 2

Name one of the Lee Greenwood songs.

My name one Lee Greenwood might be my choice?

Or Ted Nugent.

Speaker 9

There you go, one of those two.

But again, you have to remember why he was chosen.

I mean, either people just don't know and they're ignorant, and that's fine.

We all age out of things after a while, but that's not the game the NFL is playing.

You're a racist because he's got all Spanish albums that don't use any English, And how is that acceptable?

How is that entertainment for me and my football loving needs.

I just the people who are so vociferous about this, that are so bent out of shape about it, they're just wrong.

Speaker 2

Bad Bunny is again and I don't even really like him.

I don't like his music.

That's not for me.

Speaker 9

But to say it's a bad choice just because you don't like it or you've never heard of him, or worse, if you've got racial tendencies, do you.

Speaker 2

Think that might be in let's be careful.

Speaker 9

Oh yeah, I think there's a ton of racists out there, and that's why they hate a ton.

Speaker 2

I thought you meant to speaker might be no, no, no, I'm not in seeing you any.

Speaker 9

Anything about the government.

I'm not being political.

But there are absolutely people.

Did you see the response to Kendrick Lamar playing last year?

There is no question that there are is.

I thought, just in this case with no, no, no, no, I'm not saying that he says for that reason, but one can never be show.

Speaker 2

I like Waskly wabit, that's well, you know, that would remove a lot of the controversy.

I've never watched a Super Bowl halftime show, and never one, not one.

No, it doesn't do anything because there are some legendary ones.

But I can let them.

I can let most of them go.

Speaker 8

But what they do is they do a medley of songs and they have dancers and fireworks.

Speaker 9

And that's not your texicular it's it's it's not supposed to be an intimate little singer, songwriter, storytellers.

Speaker 2

Cons I just want to.

Speaker 9

Tell Okay, but again, singer, you're you're about the part of the demo that the NFL is trying to cultivate.

Speaker 2

No, I get that that's but literally the number one reason they chose anybody.

I was just stating why I don't I understand I won't see Bad Bunny perform once they once they go to halftime in the big game.

That's when I go get something to eat, use the restroom, and do a couple of other things.

Speaker 9

One of the sweet commercials there during the halftime though, and then I would want to they pay extra to be no clost to that performance.

Speaker 2

And then h and at that point I I checked back into the game.

I understand Rock Rank, Rock Rank, Rock Rank, Rock Rank, Rock Rank, Rock Rank, Rock.

Speaker 8

Rank, Rock Rock Rank, Rock Rank.

Speaker 7

I feel like this one's been kind of a one to eighty from Bad Bunny.

But uh, I did not tell this one because I don't feel like he needs to press He told me.

Speaker 8

He told me he said, normally checks with you because he likes to at least have a general idea, and he said a vague idea research for this one.

And this time he.

Speaker 2

Said that you told him you don't need any research.

Speaker 7

And I also want the come man, Dan Cole, I actually want you to go first.

I actually want you to go first on rock Rank because I'm sure you put a lot of thought into this before.

Speaker 2

I will say Wascally Wabbit would be.

Speaker 7

Top top five Beatles songs of all time.

Oh, Mancy, this is the kind of you that you need to pop.

That will be common so many good yeah, common go first.

He's thinking about the five best way all of them.

Speaker 2

It would be.

I don't I'm not gonna do order.

I'm just gonna name off my.

Speaker 8

Five favorites, okays to rank them.

Well, I can't write off because, like you say, right off the top of my head, I they have two hundred and thirty two songs.

I like two hundred of them.

Thirty two don't do much for me.

So the two hundred I have to think because I don't want to leave any out.

I would say my favorite.

That's that's easy, Strawberry Fields Forever.

It's my favorite Beatles song of all time.

And I can't I can't argue absolutely positively my favorite.

Also my next favorite song it it it they It can change from day to day or how I feel.

Speaker 2

I'm a big fan of.

Speaker 8

My Dear Prudence song number two, side one White album.

I think it's simply a brilliant song.

It's about me a Pharaoh's sister, who was also on the trip to see the Maharishi, and John Lennon wrote it about her.

Speaker 2

A Day in the Life.

I guess I have to put in this.

Speaker 8

It's a great song everybody.

Most people rank that as the very best song they ever did.

It's not for me, but.

Speaker 9

That's on Sergeant Pepper, right, Yeah, I mean most people regard that as the pinnacle of rock music creation, certainly in the sixties.

Speaker 2

Yeah, then I would probably it's too hard.

I can't.

I would have needed more time.

Speaker 9

This one needs more prep than than any of the other ones we've done so hard, just because there are so many and it's so esoteric and it is.

There's just it, and it depends on what you like.

The right thing about the Beatles and part of their entering, I'll tell you they did something for everybody.

Speaker 8

Here's what I'll tell you.

Why don't we do it in the road?

I just thought, huh, don't we do it in the road?

And that's the whole I mean, like top five albums would be easy for me.

I also like to dig It, dig It, lack a Roll and Stone.

Did you know that's actually like a seven eight nine minute jam that they just took that, like, you know, forty eight seconds and put it on the Let It The album.

Speaker 9

It doesn't surprise me because at that album they were trying to you know, I mean it was that was that was probably the most tumultuous period of their entire existence, was the Boy when they record because they recorded abbey Road after Let It Be.

Speaker 2

But Let It Be came out after abbey Road.

Then another song that I know you don't like because I'm gonna let it Be.

My favorite album that they ever did is is Let It Be?

Speaker 8

That's my favorite album.

Yeah, And I love the song I Dig a Pony And I know you think that's kind of and I just think it's a brilliant piece of work.

Speaker 2

I just like the one after nine nine Family.

No, that's actually that's not even what they didn't write that one.

Speaker 8

That's that's that's a song that they did when they played they just decided to throw it on there because they always liked it.

That's when they played the Cavern Club when they were doing covers and stuff, right, and.

Speaker 2

They just did that.

Speaker 8

They just said they always liked the song, so they just wanted to add it.

But I was not a big one after nine or nine guy, No, that's why off that album.

That's probably my least favorite song after I love Across the Universe.

Most Lenin Stuff is my favorite.

Speaker 9

Across the Universe would be in my top five, but also so would because because it's another brilliant song.

I like some of the early stuff.

I love some of the early stuff like Help, Help is A or Hard Day's Night.

Either one of those would occupy one of those early big giant solo because they were a cover band when they started, and then they started to change the entire game.

But you look at Revolver like Tomorrow Never Knows is an absolutely brilliant song.

But if you're looking for like incited, insightful, incisive, biting social commentary, tax Man is brilliant.

Eleanor Rigby might be the most beautiful baroque pop song ever written in the history of popular music.

Yeah, narrow it down to five and trying to put them in any sort of cohesive order.

Speaker 8

I Am the Walrus is a Night of Lennon song.

It's just it's a brilliant piece.

You know the story behind that, I do.

People were trying to decipher Beatles lyrics all the time Lennon was informed that he goes let him try to decipher this one.

Speaker 2

He just wrote, you know, it's it's just what do we say about what's that phrase?

Word salad?

Speaker 8

It's kind of just words.

He just mixes a bunch of mix some British stuff in there.

Surreal imagery.

Yeah, and it's literally about nothing.

Speaker 9

Well.

He was told that by a former teacher that the school that he attended was now doing classes about Beatles lyrics.

Speaker 2

He's like, oh are they?

Speaker 8

And you put another brilliant piece of work he did was for the for the benefit of mister Kite and he got that idea from just a poster for a circus, right, he said, you know, I think I could Another one is Happiness Is a Warm Gun.

That's the White album is, and he got you know how we got that.

He said he saw a magazine was like Guns and Ammo or something like that.

It's a story teller was Happiness is a Warm Gun and he just came up with it and it's like it's like three different songs in one and it's it's very well done.

Speaker 9

Another Harrison song off White Album, Savoy Truffle is just this crazy cool jam, also off white album.

Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey A Lennon jam, super upbeat, super cool rock and roll.

Obviously Helter Skelters on that record.

Speaker 2

Paperback Writer is one of your favorites.

Speaker 9

Absolutely one of my.

I mean that's definitely, that's for sure top five.

How about Back in the USSR Might be in my top five?

How about in My Life?

That's okay, but I think it's simply brilliant.

You know, again, I can't argue with that.

That's a great song.

Speaker 7

You got thirty songs in your top five, that is what you're saying, well that the Beatles, Yeah, and that even narrowing it down to thirty might be tough.

But you know, this one would require real thinking because there's so much meat on that bone there.

Because I haven't even had on like my top five song We Love of Be is my favorite.

Yeah, that's a good one.

I know it's cliche, but I like Yesterday at number two.

There's nothing wrong with that either.

Another song that I really have no idea what's going on in the song, and maybe it's just Lendon putting words together, but I like it.

And I know common has an attachment to it oh Blood, O blao.

Speaker 2

D blood, oh Blood.

That was actually a McCartney so oh was it okay?

Speaker 8

As a matter of fact, the during the making of that album, the other three members hated O Blood Obla and they were bitter because McCartney wanted to put so much time and effort but they spent hours and hours and they're like, they didn't say it, but they said, this is an awful song.

Speaker 2

We want nothing to do with it.

Speaker 9

I love it.

Speaker 8

Yeah, It's a goofy sort of tin pan alley type of you know, it's the same with Maxwell silver Hammer.

That's another one on McCartney, and and everybody in the band hated.

Speaker 2

I like, I like that, I hate I wasn't a big.

Speaker 9

Fan, and I like, while my guitar gently weeps perfect, that's a that's a high water Market, that's.

Speaker 2

That's that's that's a Harrison song.

Speaker 8

And actually Eric Clapton plays the lead guitar part on that and on the White album.

But I think everybody knows about when they did some kind of I don't It was some kind of a concert benefit.

Speaker 2

And Prince played the guitar guitar solo on that.

If you watch that, that is simply.

Speaker 9

I mean, I watch how he ends his guitar solo by simply launching his guitar into the audience.

Speaker 2

Here's here's I mean.

Speaker 8

I always knew Prince was a great guitar guitar until I saw that, because I don't know if I'm not suggesting that's his greatest performance ever.

Speaker 2

But for me, it was I'm gonna like Prince.

Speaker 8

I mean, I don't go deep into Prince, you know, but when I saw that, I went, oh, yeah, he can play guitar.

Speaker 2

Really good game.
