Speaker 3

That's nonsense.

I'm to be to man.

Speaker 1

It's time for common man.

Speaker 4

Hell why should anybody aspire to be a common man?

An average man?

Do you realize what it means to be average?

That means you're the best of the lousiest and the lousiest of the best.

Now, if we demand more and more for producing less and less while they have not, nations encourage and inspire, and indeed require hard work and maximum effort.

If we deify the common man while they encourage and reward the uncommon ones by the end result of such a lopsided race, as that is too obvious to require elaboration.

Speaker 2

HiT's back here he is, The season's on the line.

Speaker 3

Two receivers left and right.

Speaker 2

The town takes the snap.

He steps up, He's all by himself, fires into the end zone.

Hell, no, we're gonna go to the playoffs.

I'll tell you that right now, I get enough criticism from letters and from the media and from the talk shows and from that guy that does the noon hour and all the people that are hitting on me all the time that I don't need to like add fuel to the fire and tell you where I've made my mistake.

Speaker 2

On me.

You just have to try your own conclusion.

People.

Speaker 3

If you're calling me a coward, young man, I've done things that would make the hair on the back of your neck.

Speaker 2

Stand up mad up.

Speaker 5

Speaker 2

Deals that I've done, follow up good, hundreds hundreds.

I'm the common man, Dan Cole, He's ten of me, and I'm a radio dinosaur and the fans my libre of targets.

A someday archaeologist and paleontologist will be sifting through the rubble that is sixteen hundred Utica Avenue South will stumble across my skeleton remains and my cold dead fossilized lips attached to annoyman BCM one to four microphone and though so he gat a social commentator with a archaic communication device.

We are here until three o'clock plenty to get to today.

Minnesota Timbrels with maybe their biggest win of the season, regular season winn of the season.

They beat the defending world champion Oklahoma City Thunder convincingly.

Speaker 2

Last night.

Speaker 3

Minnesota whild put out the flames.

They were they last night.

I guess you'd call them the Minnesota smokey Bears.

Speaker 1

They extinguished the flag.

Speaker 5

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Yeah, well that's why I was calling the smokey bears.

So you get it.

Speaker 3

Put out the flames, smokey bear.

See, taking it to even another level.

Leave the comedy to the professionals.

By the way, that's another topic.

We need to get to a big comedy show in Rochester this weekend.

Tickets flying off the shelves.

Ticket window will be open till only ten am tomorrow.

At common Book a commonmanbook dot com, you can buy tickets to see Larry Mondela Guy, Common Man and Meat Sauce.

Also Derek Falvey Partying Ways with the Minnesota Twins, as is quasi adopha mensa with the Minnesota Bikings.

With all those topics to talk about, I'm not Oh, and Justin row is a forty something, a PGA tour player leading the farmers.

Speaker 2

Not sure where to start today, Let's spin the wheel of TI topic commons golf game.

Speaker 3

Well, I mean that hadn't even crossed my mind.

I didn't play today, but I just thought it'd be kind of funny.

Speaker 1

That's why we leave the comedy to you.

Speaker 3

That's exactly thanks, good cheap shot, I have good comeback to.

That's why we leave the comedy to the common man, because boy, that was sure funny.

Do you think Tom Pole Lad will flip through media guides now to find is next the general manager?

Or I don't know that these titles.

It used to be just you were the general manager, you were the boss.

Now they've got you know, senior vice president and junior vice presidents and presidents of this and that and the other thing.

And then and then maybe Tom will just call over to uh, to sir Mark and Zigg and say, hey, I got a great idea for finding your next general manager.

Why don't you just why don't you just thumb through some NFL media guys, see if you can find the guy.

Speaker 1

I always love.

Speaker 3

That worked well for the Twins.

Boy, you know Tenny, they say, when it rains at poors, I don't know which guy we want to start with a guy guessing.

This first segment, we just kind of talk about the.

Speaker 2

Both of them.

Maybe, uh, Fallby was the news that broke first.

You sent me a uh somebody tweeted it.

Speaker 3

I don't know it was it was it was an official Vikings release or Twins released, Yeah, the gleaming one and saying that Fallby was out.

If Fallby started with the team, I think was like twenty fifteen or twenty sixteen.

Speaker 2

I read that.

Speaker 3

I read the piece in the fish Trap Factory west Side about you know.

I think team went to the playoffs like three or four times under Fallby.

Actually under Folvy they won their very first playoff, not just game but series.

Speaker 2

After they they had.

Speaker 3

That string where they were oh of eighteen and then they ended up being I think was Toronto and then lost to Houston, or they beat Houston, lost Toronto, whatever, or it doesn't really matter.

It was so long ago.

Twenty twenty one, I think is when it happened, maybe twenty twenty two he kind of brought in along with I even was it Thad Levine he left?

Speaker 2

Was it last year?

Speaker 3

I think maybe was a year before that he also left the organization And there it.

Speaker 2

Sounds as though the twins are trying.

Speaker 3

To sell this as like a mutual decision, and it could be I'm not even saying it's not, you know, because it could be one of those things where Tom said we're going to do things my way and this is how we're going to do them, and Derek said, well, if I don't have full autonomy to do what I want to do, I'm out.

Speaker 2

Or it could be just you know what you're done and we can do it two ways.

Speaker 3

Either we say you're done, we fired you, or you can say it was a mutual decision.

Speaker 2

You know, guys sometimes like to have that, so it doesn't really matter.

Speaker 1

I guess knowing the pole ads, they ask them for a pay cut.

Speaker 2

Hold on, you know, we could we could use a feature act.

Speaker 1

You want to do tennis just riped five minutes now, it's better.

Speaker 3

Not every bit can be brilliant.

I mean, if you think I have filler on the show.

You should see my comedy routine, and you can go to commonmanbook dot com and get tickets to see Meat Sauce, Commondila Guy and maybe a surprise appearance from Tennabe.

Speaker 1

Oh boy, no money, no funny.

Speaker 3

Yeah, you could do a bit like you know, I've I don't have any you know, I don't like to say I've lost my hair.

Makes me feel like I'm irresponsible.

Isaac Whitty brilliant his best bit.

Speaker 1

That's pretty good bit.

Speaker 2

So uh.

Speaker 3

He kind of brought saber metrics and analytics to this, to this franchise, and I've never been a big fan of that.

Speaker 2

We talked about it, you know, well it's a topic.

You know.

Speaker 3

Me, I don't like to repeat myself much or you regurgitate material, So I don't know if we ever really did talk much about sabermetrics and analytics, but.

Speaker 2

It's there's a place for him.

Speaker 3

But I think what it just seemed like the just every decision was there was no gut feeling, no just passing the eye test saying I like this guy.

This guy's got a little something extra.

It's always sabermetrics.

Analytics is wars and whips and all those.

You know, I don't even know how many different sabermetrics, Uh, sabermetrics there are.

It seems as though there's like thirteen fourteen.

In baseball, you got war and whip.

Those are the first two that come to mind.

Ops blah blah blah, and I just never you know, like I've said, there's a place for that.

You know, I think they can be helpful, but I'm still in Uh.

Here's another thing you've done for me, tenneb You know bananas.

You taught me to peel bananas correctly.

You taught me to use a contact list in my phone and a calendar in my phone.

And you also told me that pay at the pump, Pat the pump was another one.

And you also told me that what was the other one he told me was baseball related?

Here, I forget what it is.

You can't win them all.

I think you told me it's a marathon, not a spay.

Yeah, I think that was another one you told me too, But yeah, I so I don't know.

I you know, it's again the job.

They won't have any trouble filling it.

There are people out there that there are thirty two of those jobs.

Earth talking about well, we're still talking about fall of you right now.

Okay, there are thirty two of those jobs or thirty?

Is there thirty major legue baseball I think it's thirty.

There are thirty of those jobs out there, and there's only one available, and you will have no shortage of people that.

Speaker 2

Want that job.

Speaker 3

And you don't even have to have any baseball experience either way, because did Faalby have any baseball experience before that?

I don't recall that he did other than with Cleveland.

I think he went straight from did he go to Harvard or Yale or Mit or some like that.

You know he was he was a numbers guy, you know that sabermetric stuff, and he was hired in Cleveland, and then you know that was the I made the joke about thumbing through the media guys.

Speaker 2

That's how Jim Pohladd found him.

Thumbing through media guys.

Speaker 3

He said, So he goes, yeah, I'm just thumbing through media guys.

Got to the Cleveland one and I noticed this name Derek Falvey.

Thought hmmm, Masewell, check this.

Because Falvey wasn't the main guy in Cleveland.

I don't think at the time he was like an underlean and then all of a sudden he got he got foisted by being hired.

He was foisted, great word, fisted.

He was foisted to the top of the list and became the Twins guy.

And so and how much of it's on him, I don't know, you know, I still think most of it's on ownership.

But owners don't fire themselves.

Speaker 1

So in the Twins release today, they wrote, Executive vice president general manager Jeremy Zol will continue leading the Twins baseball department.

Executive chair Tom Pohlad will assume interim oversight of the club's business operations.

So I don't know if that's saying Zola is now the guy or he's the guy for now until we find one, like, don't really explain it.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Well, in the Vikings, their replacement for Quasi is interesting too.

We can talk about that.

Speaker 2

Yeah, well, we'll do that because that's the that's the next topic.

We'll do that.

Well, peak at the Purple because that was number one we started where the first first news nugget was first announcing that was with a fall Vy.

Speaker 3

I think with the Vikings, it's like, this is a Vikings town, We're a Viking station and.

Speaker 2

I just think.

Speaker 3

Because the twins are so irrelevant, it's worth mentioning and talking about.

Speaker 2

But it certainly doesn't have the the weight I.

Speaker 3

Think is and the interest has the Quasy and Opa Mensa out as the general managers of the Vikings.

We'll talk about that other side of the break when we peak at the Purple Right now, timby is a keyword to try to put on grand in your hand with our national cash.

Radio advertising works Call this station or radio's red hot.

Call this radio station or the radio Advertising Bureau to find out more how you, mister or missus business person can advertise your goods and services and products and if it did, show you how it works.

Ten to me, I just heard that last ad for zip recruiter says they're able to find employees for whatever job, whatever opening you might have.

Maybe we should use Zipper recruiter for ar we're looking for.

I've heard you do answer looking for radio say those people, So why not?

Why don't we use it recruited for that.

That's the kind of things that I think about.

Speaker 2

Who listening to those?

That's thank you God, I.

Speaker 1

Mean that's Viking twins might want to use zipper as well.

Speaker 3

Yeah, they might, and they might want to do it zippity quick or lickety split or whatever the thing is.

I just ran into Sam san Severe from K one O two.

Speaker 2

Uh, she's a new.

Speaker 3

Mom, because why this might be your first week back.

Speaker 2

I think she could be longer.

It's just the first time I've seen her quite some time.

Speaker 3

And so I congratulated her, and then I said, remind me of of of your son's name, and she says his name is Bowen, And I said, so you'll probably just start calling him bow and she said yeah, And I said I'd call him when and then.

Speaker 2

If I had more kids, I'd call him bo.

Speaker 4

Who?

Speaker 5

What?

Speaker 2

Why?

And where.

Speaker 3

Comedy tickets available?

Comedy like that?

Tomorrow night that's kind of funny, isn't it.

Well?

Speaker 1

This is new wow ah, you always have new material and even your old material that you repeat is so good you can hit their their hits.

Speaker 3

Speaker 2

Is you get the message so shortly?

I don't know when the when when?

Speaker 3

The following news that he has been uh he has parted ways with the Twins was released shortly thereafter.

Just before we got on the air was but one, it was announced that Quasi Adopha Mensa has been relieved of his duties as general manager of Assumed Game World champion Minnesota Vikings.

He had just signed a contract extension Tennabe.

Remember there was a delay on it because both O'Connell and Quasi were signed at the same time and they were going into there was this did they just finish their fourth year?

This was the fourth year, right, they had five year deals, so the questions was you're going to give an extension or not.

They gave O'Connell extension first and announced that I think it was almost shortly after last season ended, if I'm not mistaken, and then they waited a while on Quasy, and Quasy was asked during different interviews.

He goes, I'm not worried about that.

Things take time, blah blah blah, and then how long ago was it?

Last few months it was announced that Quasy had also signed an extension, and we'd kind of caught wind of it here that the Vikings were going to make some kind of an announcement, but they had not said anything to us yet, and the speculation was what could it be, right, and when the name, well, yeah, there's the let's just face it.

The draft picks for Quasy have not panned out for the most point, and his name came up and then someone here in the office said, yeah, but they just signed him to an extension.

Speaker 2

That's a lot of money.

Speaker 3

They're gonna be probably have to write him a check for however many years he signed, for sure.

But when you're talking about the kind of money the Wilfs have, that's just the price of doing business.

Sometimes you make mistakes.

There was a quote from Quazy.

What was the quote when they asked him about as you look back on letting Darnold go and going to McCarthy said, sometimes you wake up in the middle of night wonder and you know this could be the call, but wait my whole life for I don't remember the exact quote, but it was something to the effect of, you know, sometimes you wake up, you know, middle of the night when or did you make the right decision?

Or did you not make the right decision?

And that's just the way they say it goes.

But he's been let go, and apparently the word is Executive vice president of football Operations Rob Razinski, who's always called capologist right.

He's the one that handles the contract situations as far as juggling the money about.

Speaker 2

You can only spend so much.

Speaker 3

He'll lead the team's decision making through the NFL Draft in April.

That's according to Mark and Zigmunt Wilf.

The Vikers will conduct a search for the new GM following the draft.

The Wills wrote in a joint statement.

So maybe they were both writing at the same time.

Maybe maybe Zigmun's left handed and a serve marks right hand.

Speaker 2

That's why how they were able to write in an adjoint statement.

Speaker 3

Says, following our annual end of season organizational meetings over the last several weeks, and after careful consideration, we decided is in the best interests of the team to move forward with new leadership of our football operations.

Speaker 2

These decisions are never easy.

We are great.

Some people would say this was an easy.

Speaker 3

One, but these decisions are never easy.

We are grateful for Quasi's contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future.

Goes on to say, in this piece written this is Fisher Rep Factory West.

Speaker 2

It's written by Emily and Ben.

Speaker 3

It says his firing comes the same week he was reportedly in Mobile, Alabama with the Memphis Well, he's probably got the Memphis Blues now stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again because he was attending the Senior Bowl on behalf of the Vikings.

During his ten year as GM, the Bikers were criticized for failing to hit the mark on draft picks.

Only two players from Quezy's inaugural draft class in twenty twenty two remain with the team in twenty twenty five, fifth round running back ty Chandler and sixth round wide receiver Jaalen Naylor.

I don't think he just considered difference makers, right, You don't next year, you don't look at either of those guys and go.

Speaker 2

Whoa man that was.

Speaker 3

That's that's you know, that's a that was wonderful of those guys who really make a difference out of the football field.

And of course the move also comes following JJ McCarthy struggles at starting quarterback this season, which the Vikings finished nine and eight, missing the playoffs.

And then we all know the Darnold story, right, They decided not to opt they they're not franchised haag him or re sign him.

He joined the Seahawks the Vikings, although they had pursued Daniel Jones, who'd signed with the team's practice squad late in the season.

He signed with the Colts, butofa mensa said of not tagging Arnold in an end of season news conference on the thirteenth, I still understand why we did what we did.

The results maybe didn't play out the way we wanted them to, but ultimately I think at the end of the day, we would have executed better in certain places.

And I don't and I don't not only say it individually in terms of particular player, for just executing better, knowing what the room was, play style wise, experience wise, and really put together a better combination of people collective in the group.

Speaker 2

Blah blah, blah blah.

Speaker 3

I again will state that I don't know because I'm not in those rooms, and I really don't know the inner workings of a National Football league hierarchy.

I always assume, I think there's got to be some truth of this, that every decision isn't solely made by the general manager.

Speaker 2

He may be the one that.

Speaker 3

Publicly announces it and has the final word, but I think it's especially when you're talking about personnel and such, there are conversations between the general manager and the head coach, and you know, maybe coordinators and other coaching staff as well.

But it's the old the buck stops here, you know.

That's what James Madison, former President United States.

I think it was the fourth president United States.

That's what he said with the buck stops here.

And so I have no calls with it.

I just always thought Quazy took a little bit too much of the heat.

I sort of kind of sort of defended Quasy and not in a defense that he's doing a great job.

Speaker 2

It should keep his job.

It's just like, you know, it goes.

Speaker 3

Back to like when everybody was blaming the Vikings failures on Ed Donna Tell, Well, it wasn't all Ed Donna tell.

A lot of it had to do with the person Oh it's a great chance it's not just Ed Donna tell.

It might be the personnel, right, and same thing here, but Quaise he is, he's Chris Carter said the best you gotta have a fall guy, and Quays is the fall guy for the Vikings and it is bottom line, it is on him.

Speaker 2

And the drafts have not been good.

Speaker 3

So it says Brazinski will work it through the draft.

What that means is Kevin O'Connor will have a complete and total control of the draft.

Right, everything I mean he's he's I don't think Braziinski is going to be the guy that goes.

And maybe will, but I don't think Brazilski's you know, he's a he's a salary capologist guy.

Speaker 2

He's not going to go.

Speaker 3

I've decided we're going to take that cornerback from the Crimson tie.

Speaker 2

I don't think he's going to have anything to say with it.

I don't think to you, I think.

Speaker 3

It's going to strictly be whoever, whoever O'Connor, and maybe it'll be better that way.

Speaker 1

I think through this draft, it's it's Koc's draft.

Speaker 3

It's Koc with input from you know, uh b Flow, Yes, you know, for for defensive players.

But yeah, that's it.

It's going to be his draft.

Speaker 1

Joc one more input and I think he's getting it here.

And then we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2

After you are correct, we'll take a break, we'll come back, uh talk some more about this.

Speaker 3

The comings and goings at the Goose that laid the Golden Egg, and the new Winter Park, the TCO Performance Center, and of course a little beef Haven touch of the program.

Speaker 2

At one did I hear rumors that it's Marnie and.

Speaker 3

Creasol Marnies are in the day for a program password that's after one thirty.

Speaker 1

Cybred Calendar.

Speaker 2

A couple of thirteen fourteen past here in the common Man program.

I'm commed he's tend to be another Viking.

Speaker 3

Note that now kind of pales in comparison with our Quazy and Dopher men.

Speaker 2

So have you not heard word?

Just tuned in.

He was believed of his duties today by the Vikings.

He was fire.

He was fire.

He was fired.

Speaker 3

Vikings defensive back coach and pass game coordinator Deronte Jones.

Speaker 2

Deronte Jones assigned to.

Speaker 3

Be Washington's defensive coordinator, so he'll be moving on.

Blake Cashman rode on X Washington got a good one, beyond happy for DJ.

So the Vikings will be looking for a defensive backs coach and a pass game coordinator.

Speaker 2

Might be in the building.

I don't know.

Maybe Quais he's got some experience in that regard.

I don't know, but there is that.

Speaker 3

I can think it's safe to Saint Tanmy.

Those will be the only two front office people being let go of the major men's four.

Speaker 2

I don't think Bill Garon's going to be let go.

And I don't think what's.

Speaker 3

Connelly's first name, Tim Tim Conley.

I don't think he's going anywhere either.

Wild win again last night?

What did you say they did?

What with the Flames?

Speaker 1

They extinguished the.

Speaker 3

Oh?

Speaker 2

I get it, extinguished the Flames.

Speaker 1

It seems like the Wolves last night weathered the storm.

Speaker 3

And you know, really, I mean, you know, the Wild after after beating the fla after extinguishing the Flames, I'd change your nickname to the Minnesota smokey Bears.

Speaker 2

What I sense a humor?

I've gotten?

So do you?

Speaker 1

They weren't playing with hockey six slaves and they were playing with hoses.

Speaker 2

Anything.

I mean, the Flames are terrible team, terrible city.

Speaker 1

Right, They're not great?

Speaker 2

Yeah, so anything the Wild.

Speaker 1

The Wild didn't play great.

Calgary for you know, probably two periods of that game outplayed them.

Now and the shots were pretty lopsided in favor of Calgary for a while in that game, though I don't know if the possession was as tilted as that.

I just think the wild we're not shooting the puck last night was the game.

You could have had wild fans yelling shoot from the crowd, and they also didn't, you know.

Speaker 2

Shoot shoot shoot.

Speaker 1

They also didn't have a power play till the very end, but they got to it out to an early lead.

Goaltending was terrific.

I thought Gus was extremely good last night, not only making the saves, but in the way in which he was making the save just seems cool.

Calm, comfortable and net not giving up rebounds, and the wild special teams came through and that's kind of something we haven't seen from them in the playoffs, where they got the big power play goal from Boldie when they needed at the end when Calgary ad made it a two to one game.

And they had a bunch of big penalty kills last night one night or two nights after going five for five the previous game.

So PK was good, power play was good, goaltending is good.

If you have those three things going for you, usually you can be very competitive in hockey games, and they didn't have their best, but I thought John Heyden said it best afterward.

They can all be picassos.

Speaker 2

Yeah, they can't, or or monits or renoyers.

Speaker 5

Uh.

Speaker 3

Can you look up the word mercury, mercurial, mr, it's I think I think there's a couple of definitions.

One that's a planet and one of the nine planets in our solar system.

Speaker 1

Mercurial, mercurial, retrograde.

Speaker 3

Funny you buy mercurio in the definition curio, Uh, changeable, volatile, fickle, flighty, erratic.

The NBA team in Township be called the Minnesota Mercurials.

Don't you think I kind of got the idea from a different John high Another Highness is Chris Heine.

Speaker 2

He is the.

Speaker 3

Beat writer Fisher Factory West for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he said they're very mercurial.

Speaker 2

The Wolves win last night.

Speaker 3

They beat the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder and convincing fashion last night one twenty three, one eleven, a third victor in a row after losing five.

And he calls him mercurial because they had that five game losing streak where you're wondering what is wrong with this team.

It's a terrible team in a terrible city, with terrible fans in a terrible stadium.

Then they win a couple of games that were very winnable against you know, lesser competition, and then they I guess they jack themselves up for Oklahoma City and they they win the game.

I do as I start by little Wolves thinger, I do need to offer an apologyp to a friend and a former co worker of mine, Chad Hertman.

I like to chide Chad about when he was the Wolves play by play guy.

When he would be traveling, he would sometimes go, I don't even know what city I'm in, you know, because said, the travels just so hard bouncing.

You know, you're on that West Coast grind.

You just don't know what city?

Or I used to think that, would you know?

I like to make fun, Come on, you know what city.

This is the beginning of the story in the Fisher of the gamer, NBA schedules nonstops.

You might forgive some Timberrels players for not remembering when certain games are moments happening in the course of a season.

Nazried said, Honestly, I forget the day of the week.

Hartman just forgot what city he's in.

Nas Reed doesn't even know what day of the week it is.

Jaden McDaniel said, what happened Sunday?

Speaker 2

We lost?

He didn't even remember what happened in the last game.

Speaker 3

That means he would have flunked concussion protocol if he was in the NFL, right, because we learned yesterday.

They do Maddox questioning or maddox or whatever it was called, where they say, where are we playing, what's the score?

Who'd you play last week?

He doesn't know who they played in their last game.

Anthony Edwards said, who do we play?

Speaker 2

Sunday?

We lost to them.

Speaker 3

You're supposed to have a short memory too, they say, hey, ten of you right when you lose a game, if you're a professional or collegiate sports, high school, whatever, Yeah, that a short memory.

I've always thought you remember those things because for those who forget history, they're doomed to repeat it.

Speaker 2

I think that was Ben Franklin who said that.

Speaker 3

He also said a penny save it ain't worth very much anymore, and he also said.

Speaker 2

There's nothing more to pray than a man in the depths of an ether.

Binge.

Wolve's got a couple of standing ovations last night.

Speaker 3

They played so well, it says, in order to beat the Thunder, teams typically need contributions up and down the roster, and they did.

Read McDaniels.

Reid went six for ten eighteen points.

McDaniels worked both sides of the floor twenty one points on five for five shooting edwards at twenty six points, nine of seventeen.

Rudy Gobert fourteen points and ten boards.

Chris Finch said, I have this thing where we talk about rock bottom and you think you're at rock bottom and until you help, get help and realize there's always another rock bottom, and there really is.

With this Wolve's team, it seems like you think you've gotten to the bottom and then there's another bottom.

Speaker 2

He says, because people always think, oh, you know, this is.

Speaker 3

As bad as it gets, and then if you don't address it internally, then it gets worse.

Speaker 2

And I think the guy stood up.

Speaker 3

We had conversation after the game that gain, you know, the one they their last game, he said, and the guys responded in a very.

Speaker 2

Professional way.

Speaker 3

And you know, my complaint all along has been you know, I talked to my one of my golfing basketball friends, and he said, you're really gonna wet blanket, the biggest win in the regular season win.

Yeah.

I can always find a way to win blanket.

I mean, it's nice to win.

It's nice to beat the defending champs.

But as Hind writes, he says the Wolves remain as mercurial as ever.

After losing five in a row, they have now in three consecutive games in Jane.

If January has shown anything about the Wolves is that they are capable of big swings in their quality of play.

Some of their best and worst basketball has come in the month, not that far apart from each other.

The Wolves defense was back, and it usually regains fue when Edwards dedicates himself to that end of the floor and he realizes it.

But he's realized that before he's toil.

This is the frustrating part.

Speaker 2

Here's the quote.

Speaker 3

Man, I think it just starts with me on the defensive end.

Like if I'm guarding at a high level, I think everybody's going to do it.

So I just got to make my mind up and choose to do it, which is, like I said, it's always tough.

Speaker 2

But I got to figure out a way to do it.

Speaker 3

I just look at that quote and I think to myself, so I just got to make up my mind and choose to do it.

So as as the game is starting.

Speaker 2

Does he go, how do I want to play defense today?

Or do I not want to play defense today?

I just can't make up my mind.

Speaker 3

Maybe I should flip a coin, Maybe I should do rock paper scissors, Maybe I should play a game a horse with somebody before the game.

Speaker 2

What do you mean you have to make it.

Speaker 3

You have to choose if you want to play defense.

Doesn't that just come part and parcel with playing basketball now?

Speaker 2

Heine says.

Speaker 3

You know, the Beat writer says it's tough because of all the efforts Edwards expends on the offensive end.

Okay, get so he's playing it.

But I just looked at the offensive numbers for these other players.

It looks like Jade McDaniel contributed mightily offense.

So did go Bear, so did nas.

So they're playing both ends of the floor.

Speaker 2

Game in and game out.

Speaker 3

And I know there's more on Edward's plate because he's the team leader.

He's a top five player in the league.

But I don't know how you just can't decide to come out and play defense, you know.

And it goes back to I keep bringing up this quote about at the beginning of the season when they got off to such a lousy start.

He said, just seems like we don't want to really want to play these regular season games right now.

And so you know what, I'll turn that, you know, if you want me to do the wet blanket.

Maybe Oklahoma City felt last night they didn't want to play a regular season game either.

Yeah, maybe they just decided we're not going to give it all we have.

Speaker 2

And so my.

Speaker 3

Message that I sent out my text to my dear friend and that I've talked about in the radio many times, beat Oklahoma City in a seven game series and get back to me.

Now, it's nice to win that game, and it's nice to flex your muscles, and it goes to show.

Speaker 2

You they do have it in them.

Speaker 3

Though I don't know what Oklahoma City's effort level was, because apparently they don't always have the right effort level.

But it's nice and it's it's what you're just trying to stack.

When you're just trying to stack in jail, stack in jail.

The gel and I don't think I think that can come and go, as we've seen here in the month of January, but it least stacked as many wins as you can to because even though they proved a team can go from a six seed and get to the Western Conference finals, I still think the higher the seed, the better your chances, because yes, yes, exactly right.

Speaker 1

We're playing games so and they're only half a game up and right now they're in the five spot, but they're only half game up on seven seed Phoenix.

Speaker 2

But yeah, so this is nice.

So I'm not trying to wet blanket.

Speaker 3

It's just like I've just come to realize the regular season while it's meaningful obviously, because that's how you qualify for postseason play.

We go into every season probably in all the sports, but it seems like basketball more than any of them.

Speaker 2

You kind of.

Speaker 3

Get an idea there's always that there can be a surprise team.

I'm not suggesting there's not, but you can kind of go, well, these are the eight teams from though you could probably pick ten teams in the West and say I got the eight, I'll get eight of them.

I can name the eight teams that are going to make and I might miss one both from the Eastern and Western conferences.

So and then the only way that changes if there is like four Golden State now with with buckets out for the year because of the knee injury, my guess is Golden State probably falls by the wayside.

Now, maybe that bottom half of the West is so bad, Golden State still has enough with Steph and the other members, you know, Draymond and the other players, maybe they still have enough that can squeak out an eight seed or get into the play in thing and get that.

Speaker 1

Yeah right, yeah, I mean they're seven up by the eleven set, right, So but you.

Speaker 3

If I think without but even with Butler, the chances of Golden State getting to the to the NBA Final was probably not very good.

And now I mean, it's it seems like it's it's almost impossible.

So here's a text that me now bringing me into it, would ants defense be comparable to your show prep.

It's it's that.

Can you look up the word misnomer?

She was my third grade teacher, miss nomer misnomer, M I S n O M E R misnomer.

Speaker 2

Tell me what the definition is if I'm using the word.

Speaker 1

Problem misnomer, misnomer, a misapplied or inappropriate name or designation, an error in naming a person or thing.

Speaker 3

Yeah, that I don't show prep.

I mean, and I played the bit there's nobody that preps harder for their show.

Living My life is my show prep.

The other day after I stumbled across the story about about the you know, the athletic did there you know anonymity?

Uh a postseason you know they're they're they're off season whatever they call me.

You know where they talk to the guys about have you ever tried to hide a concussion?

And you can tell us anonymously?

Right then I actually looked up what is I actually had to google and search and read what actually.

Speaker 2

Goes into that concussion test.

So there was some show prep put into that, trust me.

Speaker 3

So anyway, this one says, I only watched the second half of the thunder.

We're playing hard, our d was suffocating.

Wish we would see this more often?

Yeah, I mean, okay, so, uh, let's say you were getting the old college try out of Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2

If the defense was suffocating.

Speaker 3

I don't know why the defense can't be suffocating more often, but I guess it's just human nature.

That's the way it works, and Ant says it starts with him.

So as long as he continues to say he's got to decide what to do before each game, because that's what he basically said.

He just doesn't know what to do, he says, So I just got to make my mind up and choose to do it, which is like I said, it's always tough, but I got to figure out a way to do it.

Speaker 2

Is it that complicated?

I don't know.

And I love Ant, we all do.

He's our best.

Speaker 3

You know.

We we've we've we've got well with the addition of Quinn.

Speaker 2

Now we have a handful of superstar players in this town.

Speaker 3

We've got Aunt, Caprice softened Quinn.

And uh, I mean the twins, Jefferson and Jefferson.

You know, I don't think the Twins.

I just don't think Buxton is in that category right now.

Last year he played really well.

But so those are your guys, and uh, but I just wished and and you know, maybe come postseason when they want to that's that's what will happen there.

Speaker 1

But anyway, Aunt might just mean like a Randy Moss play when I want to guy, right, yeap regardless of how they're doing the regular season, I'll feel like they have a shot in the postseason because that's just when Yes, I think he just cares more much.

Yeah, and he's not alone in not thinking of the NBA.

No, you're right, it's the league that does load management.

Speaker 3

You know.

Speaker 1

It seems like once every week or two with their roster that they had to build a fake NBA Cup type tournament just to get people interested in the regular season because their players aren't interested in the regular season.

Speaker 3

This is actually more accurate.

This is what I should have went with it, which I would have thought of this.

Cheffro Mono solo says, your show prep and Anthony Edwards prepper no comparison.

People actually expect something out of the Timberwolves occasionally, they don't expect anything on me.

You don't expect any Do you expect show prep out of me after all these years?

Speaker 2

Of course not.

And this one's even more board.

Speaker 3

I need to see digital digital digital content of common making a real cheese sandwich above a toaster.

Speaker 2

I forgot to do that.

Yeah, you gotta do that.

I'll do that over the weekend.

I did send out I want to go.

I did send out another dish rack uh.

Speaker 3

Sculpture today and I called it elegance.

Deuce actually named it.

You know, he works from home on Fridays, and I said, look what I've done, and he goes elegance, and.

Speaker 2

I said, it's exactly what it is.

So I got that on my comment on Twitter.

Speaker 1

If that one drammed your Twitter come out, I don't know what that's.

Speaker 2

That's exactly right before we go to break and welcome, it'll be uh a femine to such of the program.

Uh.

Speaker 3

Most people are aware Derek Falvey no longer.

Somebody sent Derek Folk is no longer the general manager, whatever's title was, president, whatever's title was with the Twins.

Someone said that Bonus was talking about that, you know, because I said, it's been it's been called a mutual decision in the.

Speaker 2

Release, and I it certainly could be.

Speaker 3

I just said, we don't know for sure, you know, because oftentimes you'll see in these front office shakeups where it's like, hey, you want to say we're gonna you go.

If you want to say face, you can resign.

It sounds better we've mutually parted ways.

A Bonus probably said it's possible that.

Speaker 2

And I wish I could try that.

Maybe I should have done the.

Speaker 5

What are you?

Speaker 2

Oh?

Speaker 3

Here?

Speaker 2

It is right here.

Speaker 3

It says the way Bone has made it sound is that Falvey may have wanted out because of Saint Peter leaving, the decrease in payroll, the sell off last year, et cetera.

Speaker 2

It wasn't what he signed up for.

That could very well be.

I just don't know why it would take you so long?

Why now?

And not right out?

Yeah?

Speaker 1

Time is even odd with Quay, Yeah right, like you could have done it right after the season was over.

Speaker 2

Right, and same with him with Fallvey?

Speaker 3

You know, like what happened to make you because it says they sat down together and talked about the future, and maybe they did maybe part of that.

We're not gonna know what that conversation was, but maybe with Fallby saying are we going to up the payroll at all?

Speaker 2

I mean, what are we going to do with this?

Speaker 3

And what maybe Tom whatever vision the pole ads have for the franch guys didn't didn't didn't set well with him.

And look, I I would a decrease in a payroll to sell off last year, Saint Peter leaving, that probably wasn't what he signed up for.

So maybe I'm sure he's I mean, I don't know if he's made enough money you get to the grave food, but I'm sure he's made a he's made a nice living in the past few years.

Speaker 2

Somebody wants to do that.

Speaker 3

The other news today, Quasi Adolpha mensa Uh was shown the door over at the New Winter Party CEO Performance Center.

Speaker 2

Word has it that.

Speaker 3

He that Robert Zinski, the capologists with the Vikings will kind of take over those duties through the draft and then they'll take a search for someone to replace Quasy, which at Tenneby and I, you know, because we're like Sherlock Holmes and Jim Rockford were detectives, leads us to believe that the entire draft going to be left up to Kevin O'Connell, I would think, and then we'll see I mean, the Vikings.

That's that's got to be why.

That's it's got to be the number one reason it might be.

There might be several, but the number one reason I would think is that the drafts just haven't panned out.

Speaker 2

Someone sent me a text tend.

Speaker 3

To be saying, do you think it's possible that with old Sam Donald has an arm Ei eio making it to the big game.

Speaker 2

That was the last straw for the Wolfs could be sure.

Speaker 3

I don't know they could say, because you know, if you'll remember what I was saying when when when Donald left, I said, well, I thought the whole idea was to find a franchise quarterback, and this guy looks like one.

After going fourteen and three, I was like, why are you letting them out of the building?

But they did, and you know, maybe maybe the Wolves are thinking the same way, going, well, why did we let this guy go with what he's done?

I mean, especially now since the way he played in that NFC Championship game.

I mean, he's just receiving all sorts of rave reviews and compliments and just league wide, right, I mean basically saying Sam's arrived and couldn't happen to a nicer guy and all that stuff like that.

So yeah, does look doesn't look good for Viking personnel decisions.

But you know, then someone else sent you know, we're always wondering, you know, the selection of the you know, the draft itself.

Speaker 2

From every position, including McCarthy, was was that more of.

Speaker 3

A quazy thing or an O'Connell thing, and we might learn a little bit more as we go forward.

Now, what will the Vikings do in the draft?

Well, we've heard there's it's not a deep draft for quarterbacks.

But will they still will they draft somebody?

Will they go out and try to find it not just a veteran that you know, is just strictly a backup like a stitty, or.

Speaker 2

Do they actually go out and get a guy.

Speaker 3

To you know, to say, hey, you've got a chance to win the starting job here.

Or do they make a blockbuster trade?

Right, I mean, we'll find out more about that.

Let's pause and uh when we come back a little bit, if I have in touch of the program right here in the Common Man Program along with Tennebee here on the fan
