Speaker 1

Bad command, common man, no show people solid plan.

It's time for common man, com uncommon man charge house ones like going can what shoot?

Speaker 3

Word?

Speaker 4

We play's nonsense?

Speaker 5

Object to day to day.

Speaker 2

It's time for common man.

Speaker 1

Oh boy, why should anybody aspire to be a common man?

An average man?

Do you realize what it means to be average?

That means you're the best of the lousiest and the lousiest of the best.

Now, if we demand more and more for producing less and less while they have not, nations encourage and inspire and indeed require hard work and maximum effort.

If we deify the common man while they encourage and reward the uncommon ones, well, end result of such a lopsided races that is too obvious to require elaboration.

Speaker 4

Hell yeah, baby, just keep battling it, Just keep battling the keep battling.

Speaker 2

Do you think that's an information I would like to know?

To dry your own conclusions?

Speaker 6

People, I gotta say that I read all the way here because I thought I would be talking to the common guy.

Let me tell them only because the guy I mean, he's not I'm talking about this radio.

That guy's not.

Speaker 2

It's good thing here.

I'll have to pass along that you're a fan of the common.

Speaker 6

Man, right in, a silly fan.

But I wouldn't sell the guy.

He's nuts.

Speaker 4

I love the common man.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I love the common man.

I know nothing nothing very funny, very funny.

That may be school duggery.

Speaker 3

I had.

Speaker 2

Both wearing woman's on the war part of your thing.

Speaker 7

Yeah, baby, back to the spotlight, young, Well, I've never seen the clown from Brown.

Speaker 2

He's the fourth in the North.

Speaker 3

It's not this.

Speaker 8

He is the common man, dank light.

It's not the moonlight.

That's Bobby Blue Bland.

Speaker 3

Nineteen Bobby Blue Bland nineteen seventy or something.

And I just thought of it for the first time in years because of the spotlight thing.

I said, welcome back to the spotlight.

And I said, I really, I've really never left the spotlight.

Quite frankly, greetings.

Speaker 2

Good afternoon.

N ak akadak and dak daka act you in yours.

Speaker 3

I'm common He's tending to be rosing it to what more do you need to know so much to get to Major League Baseball playoffs?

Speaker 2

Continues.

Speaker 3

It's the second day of the rest of our lives with Carill Caprice off under contract the beginning of the first of eight By the way Tennabee did he had a year to go.

Did they just roll that into one as it now seven years?

Speaker 2

I don't understand how that went.

Speaker 5

Contract starts after the next year.

He's with us for the next nine years.

So it's the first day of the next day of the year of nine years.

The Vikings, I don't know if they've done anything with the offensive line.

I don't think there's much they can do to have the twins hired a manager.

Yet there's so much to get to.

I don't know where to begin.

So why don't we spin the wheel off topic.

Speaker 2

Commons golf games?

Speaker 3

Oh, it was a special day to what did you shoot today?

Eight zero nine over eight zero?

We played at River Falls Golf Course ssconsin.

Speaker 2

Where'd you hit it on?

Speaker 5

One?

Speaker 2

Right up the gut?

As good a drive as I can hit?

I don't know.

River Falls A Part four, Part Part four?

How far from the green?

I had a hybrid in my hand, second topped it it rolled through.

Speaker 3

That was one of those you know where sometimes you'll have a bunker and then there's a little grass after the bunker and then there's a bunker again.

I ended up going through the bunker and ended up in the grass erie between the two bunkers.

Speaker 2

So I caught a break.

I five iron might as well be a pitch fork.

Speaker 3

Then what well, I didn't really take advantage of it.

I had one fifteen to the green and.

Speaker 2

I hit it short.

But then I hit a brilliant ship to a foot made bogie.

I had a.

Speaker 3

See nine then were uh nine over?

That means I had nine by one birdie, So I must have had I don't know how many how would that be?

I don't know how many pars and bogies I had.

I know I had one bird in the rest for Parson.

Speaker 2

One birdy in one bogie.

Yeah.

Uh bogies?

Yeah, I know what I said.

Speaker 3

I had one very yeah and eight parts seven parts.

That's exactly right.

I didn't play nineteen holes.

Speaker 2

I played today with with It was Roube golf today.

Speaker 3

Uh.

Speaker 2

I got auctioned off at the Danny Boy Open.

Speaker 3

Auctioned off.

The people will actually pay money to play golf with me.

Actually, they're thinking, well, as long as I'm donating to the charity, I might as well get something out of it and then they had an opportunity to play with common Uh.

Jake was my host and his brother has Cohen syndrome co O h e N.

It's a rare inherited genetic disorder that affects multiple body systems, the vision and everything.

It's it's ugly.

They're they're there are not a lot of them that appear as kind of rare as I just said, but they're raising money for research.

And so the Danny Boy opened and they auctioned me off and we hit knock down, punch, cut, fade draws.

Speaker 2

It was delightful.

Speaker 3

Got to meet the owner of the golf course, Tony Bloom is lovely wife Holly is also a part of that team, and they bought it a couple of years ago and they love owning a golf course.

It was fun and the weather was terrific, and we raised money and so I feel I feel good.

I feel better about my game heading into Golf Toberfest.

I'm out tomorrow.

The ten of Fitzgerald will set sail about twelve my guests to start the day.

Speaker 2

It'll be.

Speaker 3

Partly cloudy skies, a light breeze, a zephyr, as we say with temperature somewhere in the seventies and eighties, and who knows if it will stay that way the entire voyage, or will dark clouds begin to cluster and approach the ten of Fitzgerald.

Speaker 2

I'm not sure what do you have?

But we're well prepared with lifeboats.

Do you have?

Speaker 5

Hear tomorrow's trip, so I think, regardless of the weather, who are your lifeboats?

Well, we have Pete bercich okay talk about Vikings Browns twelve thirty.

Speaker 3

Well, I thought he would be talking about I thought it was the Vikings interior decorator.

I thought I was gonna be talking about what they did over at the new Winter Park for color schemes and such like that.

Speaker 5

But I'm assuming they'll be joints in one.

I guess I should communicate with her first.

Speaker 2

Are you doing program?

Password?

We are?

Are you playing?

I'm playing tomorrow?

Speaker 5

Well be he's playing, and then Nordo will be here and John Krazinski from the Athletic.

Speaker 2

Who's going to do?

Have you have you?

Speaker 5

Blake Moore's hosting, so I'm leaving that up to him.

Oh, the parings, Yeah, he's he can make that decision.

Played before he's played a time or two.

Yes, he's hard to get tracked down, but at least the Wolf season hasn't started yet.

Speaker 2

I do remember him playing it were we were he and it teamates.

I'm sure you have.

I know he was in here one time for sure.

Okay, very good.

Speaker 5

Well then, speaking of the athletic Michael Russo will join at two thirty tomorrow.

Speaker 2

So that's a shock.

You're talking hockey, the Jolly Green Giant.

It's good.

Speaker 5

At least they're you know, they're in the news now timely.

Yeah, it's very This is about the start.

We just locked up Caprice of its funny, no one's I'm talking about the gust bust negotiations.

Speaker 2

How's it going with the gus busy?

I haven't heard much about it.

Speaker 5

It's been on the back burner because we've just been consumed with Caprisa this whole time.

Speaker 2

Give me a PA.

Deuce loves that he's never heard it.

Can you send that sound by Tooman?

Speaker 3

Is there a way to send it from the system to far Because he doesn't have to earn down yet, he kind of goes earn and I tried to.

Speaker 2

You have to listen to it so that you can get it down to.

Speaker 5

A sign when you're when you're in the middle of making a statement and pie goes h then you know it's for Fosters.

Speaker 3

Well, that's yes, that is that's for sure.

And Gore was very good at that.

So so at Golf Toberfest.

I've been hosting Golf Toberfest a Grand View for thirteen fourteen years.

Actually it's longer than that's probably twenty or twenty five roubs come up.

I think it's like maybe I don't know what the prices.

It goes up a little bit each year like anything else, right, but I think it's for like probably right around four bills.

You get unlimited golf, two nights, lodging, breakfast, buffet, tailgate party on Saturday night that I host.

Speaker 5

I do.

Speaker 3

I tell a few jokes.

I basically rip meat, sauce, cove, and hockey.

That's what I do because I'm envious and jealous of the Morning show.

I think we all are right enemy obviously.

Yeah, I mean, I don't think there's any question about that.

So you got that going for you, which is nice.

You know.

I like this company Tennabe very much, I really do.

I mean, I wouldn't still be here if I didn't.

But and I appreciate them tossing out a few of the extras, like we have free coffee here in the break room.

But I gotta admit ten to me, it's awful.

It's I think it's recycled ten W thirty motor oil is what it is.

You can't tell the difference between a dark roast, a medium roast and a light roast.

And my only request the corner's office is and I'm using one of my wishes.

Speaker 2

I rubbed the Genies lamps.

She popped out.

Is any more wishes?

You said?

Your wish is my command.

My other wish was some good coffee.

Speaker 3

Here in our break room.

I would like to have that someday.

Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.

I will tell you this.

We're going to break and when we come back and we'll be peak at the purple.

I think I have some controversial bikings news.

But going into the break tennebe it's our national cash contest.

Speaker 2

You got a keyword for us, don't you?

Yes, I do.

Speaker 5

The fan and two men in a junk truck want to give you a shot to win bonus box with their national cast contest and to the keyword bank at cafean dot com.

Now for shadow winning, the keyword is bank entern now kifan dot com yn get ready to.

Speaker 4

Laugh out loud.

Speaker 5

Comedian Kelsey Cook is hitting the.

Speaker 2

Fitzgerald Theater on October fourth.

Speaker 3

Fits.

Speaker 5

I feel like I should be introducing her that night if it's at the Fitzgerald.

Yeah, the early show is already sold out, but don't worry.

You can still grab tickets for the eight thirty show while they last.

That's going to be a night of non stop fun you don't want to miss.

I had to cantfan dot com if you were a calendar for all the details.

Speaker 3

Having trouble catching my breath.

I didn't realize Kelly was a gal.

I thought Kelsey was Kelsey.

I was a Kelsey Grammar.

Kelsey Grammar is a guy.

That's what I think confuses rosen between actors and actresses.

Sure, I think that's that's probably what it is.

Sometimes it's just hard to figure the whole thing out.

Hey, guess what it's time for?

Peak at the Purple brought to you by Affordable Electric.

If you took advantage of the seventy five hundred dollars tax rebate for buying an EV.

You need one of those level two two hundred and forty volt chargers in your garage.

Speaker 2

Guess what.

Speaker 3

Affordable Electric can do it for you.

So I have to do is reach out to him Affordable dash Electric dot com.

Affordable dash Electric dot com and remember affordable Electric is and I know you're waiting for it.

Speaker 2

Only problem is I don't have the sound effect up because I can do it?

Can you?

Speaker 3

It's a remember isly affordable?

Speaker 2

Who boy here very much?

Speaker 3

Today we go into week number five of the National Football League season.

It's the Vikings last game before the bye week to the first team ever to play I think, the first team ever to play back to back games in two different countries, right.

I think somebody told us that there was Jacksonville did it, But this is the first time where it's been in because that was the very first ever game in Dublin.

And then there's the game in London this weekend against the Browns, and then the Vikings have their bye week.

Speaker 2

I saw some we know that Carson Wentz will start.

Speaker 3

JJ McCarthy, the supposed, the alleged the hope for franchise quarterback for the soon to be Big Game World champion of Minnesota.

Speaker 2

Vikings played the first two weeks.

Speaker 3

Week one, he won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week with his scintillating fourth quarter performance, and all was right with the world.

Speaker 2

And then it was back to the.

Speaker 3

Basics as Whaling, Jennings and Willie Nelson won'ts sing sang song, or at least it was Whalan.

He didn't play very well again.

Then he sprained his ankle and he has not played since.

Carson Wentz has been our QB.

I wonder though, Tennabe, You know, everybody sort of expects that JJ as soon as his ankle will allow him to, he will be back under center and be the starting quarterback, which would be not next week but the week after when they take on Philadelphia.

Speaker 2

But I saw this quote from O'Connell fisherp Factory West Side.

This was a story from It's Today.

Tomorrow is the.

Speaker 3

Third right, so it was yesterday and the dateline is where England.

You're supposed to say, I don't know where.

Speaker 2

I don't know where in England.

No where England, England's and Europe.

No no, no, no, no where England.

Speaker 5

Yeah, it's part of that I'm not gonna act like I know everything to associated with the Great Britain where there's multiple countries kind of connected that one little area.

They're like an island nation, but they're on the heage.

Certainly one more England is like, how embarrassing is that?

I know you didn't graduate high school, but that's just embarrassing.

Speaker 3

I do know this where England is located somewhere on the boot part of of of England.

Speaker 2

Oh soo, England's a brand name of a boot you want to wear?

You want to wear it?

Okay, got it?

That little boot part in Europe.

Speaker 3

That's exactly what that is.

Here's what Here's what O'Connell said about Wins.

I've been really happy with him.

You really peel back the layers on it.

He's two tipball interceptions and having a pretty clean sheet and running our offense helping.

Speaker 2

Us score in some points.

Consistency amongst all the eleven guys in offense, regardless of who's in, is what we're looking for, because we feel when we do the little things, we can have a good day on offense.

Do you think he's setting the stage, setting the table to say, hey, Carson, opportunity to play against the team he started his are you with uh?

Speaker 3

You know?

Speaker 2

And JJ Spielde's at the ankle.

Speaker 3

You know that that he's a right handed quarterback, so you know you want to be that plant foot you you don't, you don't want to take any chances.

And we're gonna go with Carson again for another week?

Do you think that's or am I just imagine anythings?

Speaker 2

You know me?

Speaker 5

I'm always I thought from the get go, because we talked about it after Carson's first game, right when they when they walked all over the Cincinnati Bengals, and the question was, oh, if Carson repeats this performance, do you stick with him?

Speaker 2

Now?

Speaker 5

They didn't necessarily repeat that performance against Pittsburgh, but I didn't think Carson was the reason why that they didn't.

And if you have any trepidation on JJ to begin with throwing him into Philadelphia Chargers, Lions Baltimore with at this point like one or two starting offensive lineman, that doesn't sound like a recipe for developing her quarterback.

I tend I do think Chaos like doesn't like to I mean, most head coaches don't like to lose, but I don't think Koc is like a, Hey, I'm okay.

Having two years of struggles to develop our quarterback three, I still think he's got a lot of win now to him.

Speaker 2

Yes, as do most most head coaches do.

Yeah.

Speaker 5

So if Carson is showing that he's playing better than J.

J.

McCarthy, I still think he's going to go with who gives him the best option to win.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Well, you know it's interesting.

I got that.

Speaker 3

Texting troller that you know, tried to from listening to me things I don't like JJ and that I want to give up on, which is just as preposterous as it gets.

But somebody sent me an email to comment at KFE and dot com yesterday saying something to the effect of if you're a team that was feeling your window was open and coming off a fourteen and three season, I think the Vikings felt that way, particularly what the moves they made.

Speaker 2

They decided to.

Speaker 3

Refurbished the middle of the offensive line and the defensive lines, and I don't think you make those moves and spend that kind of free agent money on veterans if you don't want to win right now, right that's a lot of money to spend.

They hat it, but guys that are longer, and there's damn you know the two offensive lineman which we're thirty and thirty two or twenty eight and thirty one, I don't know, they and coming off injuries.

So I think they certainly did want to win.

And the question from the emailer was, if that is the case, is it really wise to start a rookie quarterback which you're not he's basically a rookie where you're just sure freshman, yes, where you're just not sure what you're going to get.

And you could make that argument, or you could say that's the way the league is now.

It happens all the time.

I mean, first round picks oftentimes start right away.

It's like, okay, kid, we're counting on you, and you want to get is much out of him while he's on that rookie contract, if you wait three years like they've done with they did with Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay.

They did it with Jordan Love right, well now is love and is like his and did he I'm a new deal I don't even recall, but yes, okay, so then they didn't paid they didn't get a lot out of him under the rookie contract, right, So you know it's it can be a bit more complicated than that.

Speaker 5

But jajj is also a very young quarterback.

Yes, well that's like some of these guys out, you know, like our opponent on Sunday, Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 2

He played six years of college.

Speaker 3

J J.

Speaker 5

McCarthy played three, right as you know, twenty one years.

You know, twenty one years.

He was the youngest quarterback coming out of that draft.

Yes, and and and then you add the other layer of.

Speaker 3

What was the other layer I wanted to do?

Well, I forget it doesn't matter.

I think I think you get the point of what we're trying to say.

If you are trying to win now, that can be a little that can be a little dangerous to place.

Speaker 2

Oh, I know, I was gonna say.

Speaker 3

There's also because the emailer said, do you think O'Connell's a snake oil salesman?

I said, well, no, I said a theory I've had and I heard from a source.

I think that I sort of kind of trust said that.

You know, all these guys have egos, and I think O'Connor believes he can he can take any quarterback and coach him up and make him great.

Speaker 2

And he probably can't.

I don't know.

Speaker 3

I you know, he gets a lot of credit for Darnold.

I've pushed back a little on that and said it didn't hurt to be on the bench for a year in San Francisco watching Rock Purty and Kyle Shanahan take a franchise to the big game.

Speaker 2

Lbit.

Speaker 3

They lost, but still, and you got a pretty good quarterbacks coach too.

But maybe you start thinking yourself.

You know, everybody's saying it, and I believe it, and I think I can.

I don't need a veteran quarterback.

I can coach this kid up quickly, get his feet and his vision focused.

That's the big thing with O'Connell.

And I can get this kid playing at a high level right away, and he still could because it is early.

Speaker 2

It is only two games.

Speaker 3

But it does make you wonder, and so I think we'll probably we'll get more answers after this game.

How Wentz performs and then how McCarthy I was recovering from the sprained ankle continues.

High ankle sprain apparently a peak at the Purple brought to you by our friend the very least before.

Speaker 5

I don't mean to read at the very least the comments from koc leads me to believe they're going to take their time with JJ coming back.

Yes, right, like, oh, you probably could go, let's get you in there.

I don't think that's the case.

I think I think they're going to wait this out as much as they can to see what they got in carsons.

Speaker 3

I think you're right peak at the Purple brought to you by Affordable Electric.

They're looking for a journeyman electrician and an apprentice electrician.

If you're interested, you're an electrician looking for work, looking for a change, go ahead and go to Affordable dash Electric dot com.

Affordable dash Electric dot com and remember, for all of your electrical needs affordable dash Electric dot com.

They are shockingly affordable.

More controversial Vikings news and other topics.

Next comment, I problem.

The really good one is college hockey tickets University of Saint Thomas will take on North Dakota at Grand Casino Arena October twelfth.

Don't call now, we'll give these away a little bit later.

But that's a pretty sweet deal.

The one that I don't know it's I'll read it as was Ritratt wrote by my friend Mick in promotions.

Speaker 2

Mick and I go way back.

Just a couple of pickpockets.

Speaker 2

When we give away fair tickets.

I always love.

People are calling.

Speaker 3

Do you notice when I started talking about Flop swoot and tears, this phone started ringing off the hook.

Then when I said it was for flop sweat and tears, they hung up.

They were calling for the hockey tickets.

Then they heard me talk about flop, sweat and tears.

Speaker 5

Here's the cool thing about whether if they buy tickets, are they aiding in a betting then well they off indeed.

Speaker 3

So you might want to bring a spare a spare set of license plates to put on your car afterwards.

Speaker 2

Here's what they got it.

It's with the Little Crow country Club.

Speaker 3

Okay, the golf course there with the restaurant they also but yeah, I think he said it was a fifty two room hotel.

So they're doing play at stay packages.

I think they're getting a little too excited at their excite.

Speaker 2

And I hate that.

Corey's the guy that that that hired us, and I I just feel bad because it's.

Speaker 3

Let's just say, I wouldn't say ticket sales are more bond, but they certainly aren't brisk.

They're more on the tepid side.

So we'll see how it goes.

But go ahead and go there.

We'll give away tickets a little bit later.

You know, Timy, we talked about this before about programming, predicaments and watching sports and what interests me and what doesn't and and I and I know it probably annoys people or maybe didn't not necessarily annoys them, but they roll their eyes, shrug their shoulders and shake their heads and say, well, how can you be working at the all sports sports sports as you whole have just sports station if you rarely watch sports sports sports, And it's I don't know.

Speaker 2

I guess I just keep.

Speaker 6

I just.

Speaker 2

I just keep fooling.

Speaker 3

I guess for lack of a better phrase.

But we have talked about I do like the National Football I really do.

Seventeen games regular season.

It's in the middle of win you know, not the middle of winter, but it starts in the fall.

Speaker 2

It's in the winter.

Speaker 3

It's usually on the weekends, noon games.

I'm not doing anything outdoors.

I'm not golfing anymore, so I like it's once a week.

Speaker 2

It's great.

Speaker 3

And then we talked about can you watch any game now?

You because you have fantasy football in underdog sports, you know things going on for you, you can watch maybe not every game person.

It's hard for me.

But the reason I'm bringing this up tonight is a good football game, or at least we have a pair of three and one teams in the same division San Francisco forty nine ers, and I think it's at LA.

Speaker 2

Is that correct?

They're taking on the Rams.

That's the game that piques my interest.

Speaker 5

Well, I don't know if it's going to peak your interests.

Why is San Francisco's offense is completely decimated, so brock Party's out.

Their top two wide receivers John Jennings and Ricky Purse Pearce.

Speaker 2

All are out.

What about Deebo Sax.

Speaker 5

That's why if you look at your NFL spread, swing Rams are favored by eight and a half in this one, just because San Francisco is so beat up.

So I'm not certain it's going to be the game that maybe you thought it would be.

Speaker 3

Well, then you know what, I appreciate you alerting me to that fact that I don't have to worry about it.

I think I'll be up and I'll be up.

Speaker 2

In nis Wat.

Your Shoffles will be behind you.

Speaker 3

I'll be in Camp Bridges and maybe I'll go work on my game instead of we'll begintting dark about that.

Speaker 2

But maybe I'll do something else.

But that would still the NFL, so it's still be good.

But that would generally peak my curity out.

Speaker 3

Now, how it has in Maddy Ice is he is he got a creaky back or am I imagining.

Speaker 2

He did in the preseason, but he hasn't missed any actions.

Yeah, very good, Okay, we'll see that.

He seems to be playing.

I speaking of spread swing that's coming up at one thirty.

Speaker 3

Marcoros will show up a half hour earlyer than normal on a Thursday, and then Deuce will join us.

I think, I don't know if you'll be via via phone, Deuces.

He's going to be working remotely on Friday.

He's going back to Lincoln again.

What now, this is for homecoming and you know, Deuce's his girlfriend.

Their family really likes Dues and so they want them to come.

They have a big party at a banquet.

Nurse, you know they're that's it's that's it's a big homecoming is a big deal in Lincoln.

There's nothing else to do, right, So he was going to drive to Lincoln, drive back, and then his company has some training form in Madison, and then he was going to drive to Madison Sunday and then I don't know how many days the training is and then drive back from Madison.

Speaker 2

I said, dude, you're making money now, why don't you Why don't you fly?

Speaker 3

But he doesn't want to spend the money, but I convinced him to at least get on a plane.

That's why you make money, and time is money.

Get on instead of driving the it's a six and a half hour drive to Lincoln, and then if you include a couple of stops, you're talking about seven and a half hours in the car to go to Lincoln in seventy that's fifteen hours over time.

Speaker 2

Don't do that.

Speaker 3

Go the plane ticket round trip is about five hundred bucks.

That's a lot of money.

But if you go, time is money and then gas money, right, I mean, you know the gas is gonna be what one hundred and fifty bucks because he's got a jeep and the thing just burns gas.

He gets about four miles to the gown.

So I've convinced him to do that.

So he's leaving work a little early.

Maybe he'll roll over here and pop in and be in person for spread sweat because he's got to get to the airport.

The flight leaves I think at three thirty or four o'clock, but that's coming up.

Speaker 2

A little blight costs you pretty crazy these days.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah, five hundreds a lot of money, but you know, he's making money.

Speaker 2

Now, he's making good money.

Speaker 3

I almost forced him into it, so I told him I'll pay for a little bit of it, because I think he went I would have flown not only would have flown to Lincoln and back, I would have flown to Madison's pack too.

Speaker 2

I don't know.

Speaker 3

His company is probably paying for his his mileage and that kind of thing too.

But nevertheless, teach his own I saw the twins fired Baldeli.

Was that Monday or Tuesday?

It was Monday, Well, regardless of what day, it doesn't really matter.

And and after the after the you know, after the reverberation settled down a little bit in the reaction to to you know, it was Baldeli escapegoat.

Speaker 2

Was he mediocre at his job?

So it was a combination of the two.

Speaker 3

I think what we're hearing out of the goose that laid the golden egg is they don't think he was very adept at developing players, because that's really I've talked about it, Tenney, this is it's just it's so interesting that I've got to pull that pocket protectors at every turn.

It doesn't matter what they say, they're always wrong.

We talk about this all the time selling hope, right.

We got all these prospects.

We've got Miranda, We've got Julian, We've got Royce Lewis, We've got Larnick Wallner, we got brooks Lee, Cody Clemens, got all these players.

Speaker 2

We're gonna be really good.

Speaker 3

We're gonna go We're gonna have a deep and talented lineup, and this and then and the other thing, and then what happens that that's that's hope selling is what it is.

And that's what I've always said about these young guys.

You know, what are they prospects?

Are suspect until the prospects or.

Speaker 2

Something like that.

Speaker 3

There's an old saying about it.

But it's not that some of those players haven't had flashes.

They've had stretches and moments.

But is it a man manager's job to develop those guys?

Speaker 2

Is that part of his job?

I don't know.

Speaker 3

And sometimes, you know, can you really make the Mona Lise out of a clump oft clich No?

Not Mona Lise was the statue of David without the arms right, you can see.

Speaker 2

His private parts?

Can you make I mean, you know, can you make that out of at out of a out of a can of play though.

Speaker 3

In other words, yeah, manager probably should be responsible helping develop players.

But if the player, if there's nothing there to develop because they're really they're just okay, and then you oversold them and you overrated them, then is it really his fault?

But nevertheless, that's what they've decided to do.

Now the conversation becomes who should the Twins hire for manager?

Bobby Nightingale writes beat Wright a fisher re factory west Side.

Speaker 2

He did a piece.

What do we say today?

Is the second so two days ago he wrote a piece.

Speaker 3

He throws out all sorts of names.

Brandon hw former Orioles manager.

He was the twenty twenty three American League Manager of the Years.

Speaker 5

I love that how you could be the manager of the year and then two years out of a later out of a job malltor Yeah ball Dellie.

Speaker 2

And then one hundred and three wins season he was manager of the year.

He's not anymore, and Hyde was manager of the year just two years ago.

He's out.

Speaker 3

Skip Schumacher Rangers senior advisor.

He joined the Rangers as an advisor to Chris Young, the president of baseball operations, after his time in Miami created some speculation and be the manager and waiting there with Bruce bochie De partying after an eighty one and eighty one season.

Craig Albernaz Guardians associate manager.

I didn't know they had associate managers.

When did that start?

Speaker 2

Associate can I mean the associate producer?

Yeah?

Speaker 3

Oh, I like that associate producer because you've morphed into luxury producer because that's a luxury a half somebody like you.

Speaker 2

Associate manager.

When did that position.

Speaker 3

Become available or it become a real position.

You know, you had a manager, and then you had your assistant coaches, and you know that was it.

You had a third base coach, first base coach, hitting coach, pitching coach, bullpen coach.

I don't know if you had a bullpen coach that was actually that's jah.

Now we've got assistant manager.

I wonder if there's an assistant.

I don't know if there's an assistant to the associate manager.

If there's an associate to the associate manager, I don't know who these people are.

Derek Shelton, former Pirates manager.

Speaker 2

We've ford of that.

I know that name is well.

He was a Twins bench coach for two seasons from twenty eighteen to twenty nineteen.

We love the guys that once had a connection to us.

His career record is as a manager's three hundred and six wins, four hundred and forty losses.

Speaker 3

He fit right in here, right, it's a four to ten winning percentage.

Zero postseason appearance.

Is part of that reason is Pittsburgh is one of the lowest funded teams in the league.

Speaker 2

So again, he'd fit right in.

Yeah, he would know, he would, at least he would.

Speaker 3

He wouldn't he would know what to expect, right, he might not be able to do anything with a with with with a low number pay roll like he wasn't able to do in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2

At least he knows it's coming.

Speaker 3

Uh.

And then, by the way, Levelly Neil rob is going to get to Lovelly o neil's list as well.

Lovell O'Neil has this name on his list, Tory Hunter Angels.

Special's not just an assistant to.

Speaker 2

Me, He's a special assistant.

I wonder if they have an extra.

Speaker 3

Special assistant because that's what I'd like to be.

Yeah, you're a special assistant.

I'm extra special.

Speaker 2

What Lavell wrote, was he once heard because I Hunter.

Speaker 3

Managed something or other some I don't know what it was, some not the big team, but it's something light, you know, with some I don't know.

I look at Lebell's apiece and apparently LaBelle said that Tory said I could manage major League baseball, And at first Levell thought he was kidding.

But now Leavell thinks there's a possibility because I think Tory Hunter does want to be a manager.

David Bell is the Blue Jays assistant general manager.

James Rowson Yankees hitting coach.

He used to be our hitting coach.

David Ross former Cubs manager.

His record was two sixty two to eighty four four eighty winning percentage.

You would fit in right here.

George Lombard is the Tigers bench coach.

I mean, these aren't all of these names.

I recognize one or two of them.

I don't know if there's a lot to differentiate each one from another.

Scott LeBell had five names on his list, including Derek Shelton and UH and Tory Hunter.

So we had two of the names that night and a game.

Speaker 2

Yeah, we had to do the Minnesota Connections.

Yes.

Then there's Jason Tingler.

Speaker 3

Jingler man in San Diego in twenty twenty and twenty twenty one, leading the Padres to a wildcard berth in his first season and finishing as the runner up in the National League.

Speaker 2

Banners that they're voting.

Things didn't end well.

Speaker 3

There though, so he was so he would have to explain why things would be different here.

He's also got Rouson on there and Tory Hunter the other name.

He asked, Toby garden Hier, right, well, you have to have that name on there.

I don't see how you can get I would take Molly in a second.

He label writes about garden Hier, who has more knowledge about development within this organization than garden Higher.

He has help players reach the majors.

He's used to getting them back on track when they were sent down.

He spent the last five seasons with the Saints as manager.

As many current Twins moved through the way moved through on the way.

Speaker 2

To the majors.

Don't expect the Twins to make a home run higher.

Don't expect them to land the best candidate on the market or someone with big name recognition.

The next manager of the Twins could come from a list like this, one, consider your expectations managed.

This is a little punchline at the end.

Speaker 3

And again these names.

I don't know, Tennebee, I don't even know.

What do you ask them to in interviews?

If they agree to an interview, and then what do they ask you?

You know, we we had Chips Gogins with us yesterday and we talked about the managerial opening and Chip basically said the same thing.

Speaker 2

He said, you know, if a manager comes in here and so, well, what you know?

Speaker 3

I yeah, Hey, I'm I'm I'm humbled that you're that you've invited me in for a interview for the manager's job.

Speaker 2

But why would I want to take it by you?

Speaker 7

You?

Speaker 3

You decimated the team, he traded eleven players, You cut your payroll.

Speaker 2

Are you gonna cut the payroll more?

Am?

I?

I mean do I even have a chance?

Is there even a chance?

And do you care?

Speaker 3

I mean if if, if, if we have another losing season, A you're gonna blame me when you're really not offering any help.

I'm not a magician.

I'm not a miracle worker here.

I mean, what do you expect?

Speaker 2

That would be the question you would want to get.

But I don't know if you'd get that.

Speaker 3

You might get it one from the from the veteran guys, but other guys will take it no matter what the situation is.

Right the manager in big league baseball, I don't care if you have no payroll.

I don't care if if we're taking volunteers out of the stands to play baseball.

I am now I can believe that's it.

I'm a manager in Big League baseball.

Speaker 5

It's a good payday, and it's a good maybe not so much here, but right right, generally speaking, it's a good day and then And the truth.

Speaker 3

Of the matter is, really will it really make a difference.

I just don't know that it does, because.

Speaker 5

It's your part, Like you want to know what the vision of this franchise is, because I think right now we don't know.

I've said before, I think there's a possibility they still cut more salary this winter just because they brought in minority help with funds.

I'm not convinced all of a sudden up payrolls back to normal.

They just had a season in which attendance was an all time low at target Field.

Other than the COVID year, I don't see a scenario in which that's getting any better next year.

Speaker 4

Yeah, and.

Speaker 5

The pole Ads allegedly apparently we're struggling at least in revenue that they had to bring on minority owners.

So like they've always treated it like a business, they are going to make money first.

So I still envision money is going to be cut.

Potentially like a Joe Ryan, I could see not being here next year.

So that's a lot for a manager jump on into that.

Plus they're gonna still paying rocke belt ally for another year, so it's not like they're just gonna be handing big bucks for a man to come in either.

Speaker 2

So yeah, at the end of the day, it really probably doesn't matter too much.

Speaker 3

Lastly, before we go to break and do five three four and then wait for Rosie to come in, uh and Induced to join us as well.

You know, we were talking about the quarterback situation here.

Do you if McCarthy's healthy and you're play him right away, you let him?

Do you want to you know, do you want to contin you know, especially if Wentz plays well.

The discussion was just you do you go with Wentz if he continues to play well, or do you go with McCarthy no matter what?

When he's healthy, And there are several people that texted and they seem to all want to go with the kid.

This one says, the season is over, put j J in and take the bubble wrap off the kid.

Let me get you a couple more here, real quick, tan to me.

This one says, based on the first four games, we already know the Bikes are not a super Bowl team this year, So play the kid as soon as he's healthy.

Speaker 2

It isn't rocket science.

And then another one said.

Speaker 3

The Bears like Caleb Williams take sixty plus sacks last year, and he's showing some progress.

I saw him, I saw roll him out.

I say, roll him out there and let him grow.

They aren't winning the big game anyways.

If it doesn't turn out to be good, And I.

Speaker 2

Guess have we determined that yet?

Well determined what?

Well?

Speaker 5

Just the season's over already, Like I get it, it doesn't look good, and I would I would lean towards that being the case.

But who knows if this and I don't know if we're ever going to get to the point where the roster is healthy.

But if the roster is fully healthy and everything's going, could they be a playoff team.

Speaker 2

I think they could.

And if you're a playoff team, you played to win a big.

Speaker 3

Game, and well, besides that, I guess you'd have to do it.

No team is going to publicly admit we're.

Speaker 2

Just playing out the string.

They're not going to say.

Speaker 3

Maybe inside those walls after four games and maybe this this next game, let's let's say the Vikings lose again.

Let's said they lose to the Browns, they go to two and three, they've got myriad injuries.

Once is just okay.

Anyway, you're not going to publicly say we're starting JJ McCarthy because we think the season's over.

You're not going to say that, But maybe inside the office, you're saying, in the inside that building, you say to yourself, nobody say this publicly, but I think we all.

Speaker 2

Agree we ain't going anywhere this year.

So let's play McCarthy.

So you know, you, I understand that.

I understand that.

Thinking that it's like.

Speaker 3

You know, we're a terrible team in a terrible city with terrible fans, but this team you're you can't convince me that that they made those moves in the offensive and defensive line.

Signing aging veteran free agents, to big contracts because they were just trying to get JJ ready to play, and they came into the season.

Speaker 2

We were fourteen and three last year.

Our offensive line let us down.

Speaker 3

I think I can coach McCarthy to play everybody as good as Darnold.

We can make the playoffs you get and make a run this time.

That's what they're thinking.

And I don't I don't think they're giving up on that yet.

To your point, I don't think after.

Speaker 2

Four weeks No.

Two and two team in the National footb League is giving up there.

Absolutely can't do that.

Well, Break will come back.

Five, maybe the Bengals, Well, there you go, five, three, four.

The Vikings and Browns have reached a new low.
