Episode Transcript

Speaker 1

I love this dude.

Speaker 2

It is Jay Glazer.

Speaker 3

My throat is wrecked because it Thursday, Super Bowl week Radio Row and I haven't stopped talking since I got here.

Speaker 4

You sound exactly the same.

Speaker 5

No, I don't I.

Speaker 3

Sound terrible, Jay, I sound terrible.

Speaker 4

You're very nice.

Speaker 1

Man.

Speaker 3

I sound terrible.

I feel terrible, but I'm happy to see you.

Speaker 5

That's all that.

Speaker 6

Your sex like your sex when I'm trying to turn it on, Jay Glazer, Yeah, do you have one of those?

Speaker 2

I don't you knew I was gonna ask those that you brought it up?

Speaker 4

Jay?

Speaker 3

What are you doing this week?

What do you what are you here for?

I'm besides the super Bowl?

Speaker 4

Y Calbury.

I'm here for Calbury.

You know.

Speaker 6

I've done it for the last couple of years for ADHD awareness and I found a Look.

I've been on for different mental health issues between depression, anxiety and ADHD and bipolar and all these been on over thirty five meds and none have worked.

Speaker 4

And I found one.

Speaker 6

For ADHD called Calbury, where you know I got diagnosed in nineteen eighty nine and back then they put you on all these stimulants when you got for me, it's my story when you got depression and anxiety.

Speaker 4

And he puts you on stimulants.

Speaker 5

Not good.

Speaker 6

You go up and then you go bad.

And then for me, bad means violence.

It's bad and it's not good.

Speaker 4

It's dark.

So I've been on anything.

Speaker 6

And and by the way, like weed doesn't work for me, I train whisk a leaf and Snoop Dogg.

Speaker 4

If there's ever a guy who should be on weed, it's me.

Speaker 6

I have a all the kkre chronic I want.

I can't use any of it.

Speaker 4

And then.

Speaker 6

I found Calbury, which you take at night and which you never do, is stimulants, right, so at night, so it gets like the nineteen roommates in my head or all talk and have an argument at night, get to word it shouting down like two.

And I could like calm down at night to call it the calbary Colm.

And the next day also it helps where if let's say, when I didn't take it, I'd be on Fox Anville Sunday, the second segment.

Speaker 4

But I'm on third.

Speaker 6

You know, I'm talking to America here, but I'm talking about third.

Couldn't slow it down, couldn't calm down doubt you know I do now, But I also want For anybody out there who's listening, who has children with ADHD or you have it, I want you to understand what it is.

Speaker 4

It's like.

Speaker 6

If I'm listen to something that I'm not interested in, like a college lecture or in a class or whatever, or this interview.

You know, it's like you're drowning.

It really feels like that, like you're drowning.

And the only way for me to get a breath of fresh air is to disrupt the class, is to talk, is to have an outburst, is to do something with somebody, and man, there's no other way.

And I got punished every single week of my life growing up.

You eint even want to get punished every week.

No, I'm not capable of focusing.

I'm just not right.

So for me too, And back then they told me how to learning disability, How I'm going to learning disability.

Speaker 4

I just don't learn the way you teach right.

Speaker 6

And it's funny because I just talked to a bunch of kids going to the combin and I said, explain to your coaches when you go meet with these teams, explain how you learn.

We all learn differently.

Don't let them put you in a box.

I was in that box, right, So for me again for me to find something finally that helps me in any of my mental health issues.

Speaker 4

But this with my ADHD has been huge.

Speaker 3

So Jack Kels, this is interesting to me because I have ADHD.

I take adderall, yeah, and they normally say you take it right in the morning on an empty stomach, which I don't know if that's the right way or the wrong way, but it's what I've been taking and it's kind of work for me.

But you're telling me this is you have found something that's better and different, and it's interesting to me that you're taking it at night at night.

Speaker 4

Yes, in adderall too, how are you and come down terrible?

Terrible?

Yes, terrible, right, terrible.

Speaker 3

But this is not something that's going to keep you up all night.

Speaker 4

No, no, no one.

Speaker 6

It's the other way calms me where I can go to sleep because the roommates in my head stopped talking so much, so I'm able to just go to bed.

It's really great and it's subtle, but it is a huge And like I said, like I'd literally be on Foxtaville Sunday and I would be two or three subjects ahead already while I'm trying to talk to America and then come back to it.

Speaker 4

Sure, this allows me to be focused on what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1

Jays.

Speaker 2

It's a great thing you're promoting here.

Speaker 3

Hopefully it will help a lot of people, hope, parents with their troldren or if adults are dealing with it as well, Like both me and Jay Glazer, I am wondering.

Speaker 6

But also I think more and more people have it now because we're all on our phones.

We're seven seconds and it's all people could deal with.

Yes, right, there's seven second clips.

People can't deal with this anymore, So I think way more.

I think there's like a stat on there.

I don't believe the stat I think it's way more.

And I also think that really, well, that's for their clinical staff.

But I think, you know, I saw something about depression anxiety.

Speaker 4

How many people have it?

Speaker 6

I said, I think we're in the majority of these days because also, like social media makes us think our lives suck.

Speaker 4

Yes, right, so you don't have.

Speaker 6

To have clinical depression, anxiety and bipolar like I do to be going through something like we were comparing.

Speaker 4

Ourselves to everybody else's filtered highlight.

Speaker 6

It's a second of one day and we're like, man, we're losers.

Our food doesn't look like that, our car doesn't look like that.

We're not doing what everybody else is doing.

We feel so left out.

Or like when I grew up at the Jersey Shore, I got my ass kicked.

It sucks for a month.

Now we're getting our asses kicked a thousand times a minute on X right, So how you're supposed to survive that?

So I think we're all going through something we need to bond together.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to do.

I'm trying to get us all to build one big, badass team together.

Speaker 4

We walked this walk together.

Speaker 5

I love it very much.

Speaker 4

Jay.

Speaker 3

By the way, I was wondering here as a trail blazer in our industry.

Okay, do you still marvel up the fact that the transaction is more interesting to most fans than the actual action on the field.

You started this, I did, and you're proud of it.

Speaker 5

Yeah.

Speaker 6

But also when I did it back in the day, I did it to start a fight with ESPN because it was David vers Goliath.

Speaker 4

I thought it was a good brand.

Right, by the way, I didn't really care, I care at all.

I just did it.

Speaker 6

Because I'm like, this would be a great fight for me, of course, and it worked, but then we got out of control and everybody's like, oh my gosh.

Speaker 4

You tweeted this thirty second before Schefter, he sucks.

Schifter tweeted this thirty second before you you suck.

And I was like, oh my god, this is not when I was trying to start.

Speaker 6

And that's why I don't do the DAILI by DELI minute, you know, minute by minute breaking news anymore, because it's all whoever can steal each other's stuff fastest.

Now, I want to make sure Fox Anvil Sunday, that's what I worked for.

I worked for Fox Anvil Tuesday.

I worked for Fox and o Thursday.

I worked for Fox and Ovels.

You tune in Fox and fil Sunday, you will hear something that you have not heard anywhere else, and nobody could steal, you know, a couple of weeks ago, all in one show.

Speaker 1

I have.

Speaker 6

I have the security report that DK Metcamp filed against that fan while he's with the Seahawks, that same fan when they were in Detroit, like man Or.

I come on, Matt Ryan is on the CBS show and I say, hey, By the way, Matt Ryan, who's on another show right now, is about to get hired by the Falcons to be their present football operations and they had no clue was coming.

Speaker 4

So good, got some scoopid.

Speaker 3

Yeah, you're breaking the news that Matt Ryan had and you're breaking his news.

Speaker 4

Phenomenal, that's the best.

Speaker 7

Ye.

Speaker 6

I called them after.

I'm like, bro, I couldn't called you before him.

Man, I know you wanted me to, but you would have had to go tell whoever was your inside of that.

I just I couldn't do it.

He's like, Bro, I'm so glad you didn't call me.

I'm so glad you didn't call me.

Speaker 3

Does Schefter ever thank you?

Like Diana any of them because.

Speaker 6

You know you no they should Blazer, Yeah, yeah, Chefter and I have become friends and and uh, mort and I were really close and people didn't know.

So again I pick fights.

But Mort, when More got sick, I'm try and keep it together here.

When More got sick, I called him constantly and left the most messed up expletives filled like like message like m effort, you are not bailing out on us like this.

It is not going to happen, like that you're not gonna do it, and I would just called just to try and pump them up.

Speaker 4

And when he when he.

Speaker 6

Got better, he left me the coolest message ever, Like, dude, every one he goes, you're the first person I'm calling.

Every one of those messages lift me up.

And and so everybody thought we were one way, but the truth was, man, I love them.

Speaker 5

Yeah, he was a great man.

Speaker 6

And we need each other like Shafter and I need each other.

We need each other, you know.

And we also years ago I call Schefter and more to start the season, probably talking about ten fifteen years ago.

Hey, man, we need each other.

Let's not be dirty.

Let's not take each other stuff.

Okay, if you break something, you break it.

I wanted to confirm your stuff, don't confirm my stuff.

Speaker 4

Just we got it right.

Speaker 6

But there's there's enough stuff where we don't have to steal each other stuff.

Speaker 4

Now that's not everybody else doesn't go by that that edict I do.

Speaker 3

Jay, you're the best man.

We got to run here.

We have you got Robinson waiting here one more time.

On the way out though, tell people what you're promoting.

Speaker 4

Again, Kelbury q E L B r EE.

Speaker 6

It's an ADHD drug, which is a non stimulant you could take at night.

It has been a game changer for me and the only pharmaceutical in any mental health area that's helped me.

Speaker 2

I'm gonna try it.

Speaker 4

Check good.

Speaker 3

I'm gonna talk to you about it.

Yeah, definitely appreciate you man, You're good.

Speaker 4

Speaker 1

For We're here with Chicago Bears.

Speaker 8

Chicago Bear, He's an NBA guy, Tago Bears Tight end cold commet uh coote.

We had Dean Dawkins here yesterday talking about chunky soup.

Yeah, tell us about what you're doing with chunky.

Speaker 5

Well we're back again.

Yeah.

So they told me that there was the super.

Speaker 9

Bowl going on, but you come down and you realize, oh, it's the super Bowl.

Speaker 2

Come on, Why did nobody else drop that line?

Speaker 1

Yeah?

Speaker 5

I mean that's not bad.

It's pretty good.

That's not bad.

Yeah.

Speaker 9

No, but chunky obviously, uh for me a staple growing up.

I've always remember watching the commercials, uh, you know, for for on Sundays when watching the games and all that.

But so yeah, glad to partner with them for for the super Bowl.

Speaker 2

You know what's funny.

Speaker 8

I saw Donovan McNabb wandering around here you have today, and it's like the first thing, the second thing I think of.

Speaker 2

But yeah, is a chunky super Yeah.

Speaker 9

Yeah, it was funny, like that is kind of just ingrain in your head about it's funny.

Speaker 8

Yeah, Cole, I was wondering because I forget which offensive lineman oh uh forty nine Ers offensive line.

When we were talking to yesterday, he was talking about how he grew up a tight end.

Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, turned into alignment or I'm wondering, is there a fine line growing up between offensive alignment and tight end or is it.

Speaker 2

More of a fine line between tight end and wide receiver.

That's one way.

Speaker 9

I think it depends who you are.

I was on more of the line of probably offensive line tight end.

If I'm being honest, I eat that much.

Yeah, that takes a lot for me to say.

Now I've said that, but that's that's probably the reality of it.

I always had my father saying that I should switch to tackle, and I didn't want to listen because I wanted the ball in my hands.

Yeah, but missing out a lot more money if you play tackle.

Speaker 10

Now listen, as a fat guy, we all want the ball in our hands.

Yeah, we just don't get a chance.

So I appreciate that you were able to make it out.

Speaker 5

Yeah, well, I appreciate that.

I appreciate you saying that.

Speaker 8

In my current sizes might be a surprise to you, But in high school, I'm like, all right, me and my buddy Warren, We're like, all.

Speaker 2

Right, we're gonna go.

Speaker 8

You'll be the full back, I'll be the tight end.

Perfect we both.

I was the center, he was the guard and we quit three weeks.

Speaker 5

Oh yeah, yeah, I don't I'm not doing that crazy, that's crazy.

Speaker 8

I wanted to ask you about I don't know if I want to go with Caleb or Ben Johnson first, but Caleb, Go.

Speaker 5

Caleb, because I got a Ben Johnson question.

Speaker 8

Okay, playing with Caleb.

His strengths.

What do you see from him potential wise?

And how fun was it with.

Speaker 9

This He's I mean you could you'd see when he came in last year.

His talent is just off the charts.

The arm talent is crazy.

The throws that we get to see and I know everyone saw him the highlight plays at the end of the year, but we're seeing that in practice and so just some crazy, ridiculous throws and you almost take it for granted after a little while because you get used to seeing it, but you have to remind yourself that it's really not that's not normal.

So, I mean, you really saw him take off and you know under Ben and kind of the structure of his offense, you know, playing within that.

But then also the playmaking ability has just been a lot of fun to see.

And you know, he really grew into a professional quarterback this year, which was, which was really awesome.

Speaker 4

All right, save space.

Speaker 5

This is this is chunky, this is yeah, total safe.

So so this total safe space.

Speaker 10

Yeah, do you ever want to tell your coach man, relax, just take the three.

Speaker 9

Just just relax.

Oh that's not really, that's not our mindset.

And we are fully I know, I know.

Every they're always gonna be critical of you if you don't get it, of course, you know what I mean.

Speaker 5

But when you get it, no one's oh, you're super great.

Yeah.

Speaker 9

So that's our mindset as a team, is like we're going for it, and we got his back one hundred percent on that.

Speaker 5

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Cool.

Speaker 8

I'm a little bit obsessed with Ben Johnson because as a flag football player, I kind of fancy myself coordinator on both sides of them.

Oh nice, And I'm like I see his offense.

I'm like, he's the son of it.

Like it's just so crazy.

Yeah, just good and so difficult to defend.

What do you like about him as a play caller?

Is it how he or what plays he has in his back pocket or is it just how he constantly calls the right play?

Speaker 2

What do he look mostly?

Speaker 9

Well, I mean, obviously he knows when to call the right play.

I think that's been evident.

And he does a good job of timing up the play calls that he has, but also really marroring the pass and run game.

He does a really great job of doing that, giving a defensive a look and you know, knowing, hey, we hit on this this week and they might be practicingate and then do and something off of that the following week.

So you see a lot of that with him.

And he's consistent in that regard puts player and I think the main thing puts players in positions to succeed.

And you know he's not He's not just in love with his plays.

He wants to make sure that his plays, you know, kind of kind of merry up with the guys that we have on offense and what we all do do really well.

Speaker 2

I'm just gonna say this.

You don't have to agree.

That's what I felt like.

Mike McDaniel didn't do his play.

Speaker 8

That Florida guy, he loved his plays, didn't really marry it to the player unless it was Tyreek Khill.

Speaker 5

Okay, all right, last one for me.

You guys were the number two seed.

Speaker 10

You guys were going everybody said you were you were beyond expectations.

Last year, you guys only had five wins.

My question is, what's a harder end of the season.

Is it like when you guys are out of it early and it's like, okay, we got to get to the end, or is it like we could do this and then there's that that hardak.

Speaker 9

Wow, that's actually a really good question because I've been part of both.

I've been part of where you got a month ago and there's no sight so and that really thanks.

But it does hurt more in the moment when you when you're going for that goal and you know you're in the divisional round and you have a chance to go win it and you don't know you end up coming a little short.

So that does that hurts more in the moment.

But what's tougher to go through in the long haul is that those four or five weeks where you know you're already out of it.

Speaker 8

I would say, yeah, the Ben Johnson Matt Lafleur stuff, I absolutely love it.

I'm wondering, though, does it put because I know you want to dig into with rivalries, right, you want to set that up, but do you want to just sort of draw a line because heck, there might be three or four players in this locker room that might be a Green Bay packer.

Speaker 2

Yeah, you guys receive that.

Speaker 5

How do you deal with it?

Speaker 9

I don't know if like we think about that in the moment.

We know how big of a deal that game is, in particular in Chicago and our organization and in our building, it's it is talked about during the week, and I think guys really take that in once once they become a bear.

So I guess that's a problem to deal with that another time.

I guess if you're going to go be playing for them some other day.

Speaker 8

Last one here talking to Trey McBride a little bit later, he broke the record for what Yeah, he's in receptions.

I'm curious just what other players at your position you look at and say, I wish I had that particular skill or could you know do that or whatever you or do you figure you can do pretty much anything?

Speaker 5

Well?

Speaker 9

I think you watch guys like brock Bauers after the catch is really special.

I thought Colston showed some really great stuff this year with his rot running ability.

If you really watch him, you know, really kind of has the route discipline of a lot of receivers in the league and you don't see that offense at the tight end position.

Speaker 5

So he does a really good job and the Emmy.

Speaker 9

You look at the other end of the spectrum, like guys like Darnel Washington, who's you know, three hundred pounds and you know a road grader on the line of scrimmage.

Like those guys are fun to watch too.

So there's such a variety at our position.

I think that's what makes it so fun to watch.

Speaker 8

You already dropped your best super joke.

So what else do you got for Chunky on the way out of the door?

Speaker 9

Oh man, Well, try all the flavors out.

My favorite is the new Chicken Mac.

Really good stuff.

Kind of a tailgate, a tailgate take on a soup.

I'm pushing for a breakfast suit.

I don't know how that would go, but that's my pitch to that's my pitch to Chunky.

Speaker 5

You'll see how it goes.

Speaker 2

You got to put your picture on the can.

Speaker 5

But yeah, oh yeah, all right, thanks, yeah sure, you got to thank you for thanks.
