Somebody reached out to me with a sobering message that made me rethink my impression of a current story. I want to protect that person’s identity and not go into the specific details except to say that they were absolutely horrific.

This person was very upset that the media has been turning the FBI’s stance on bestiality into a joke. What this person told me is that child traffickers do, in fact, use animals to rape children. This is part of the child rape culture that the Republicans are actively working to cover up.

Sit with that for a moment. I need everyone to understand and accept that this is a current crime against humanity that’s going on in the world today.

I also want to acknowledge that I had the same response as everyone else when I heard Kash Patel’s testimony. I think we all feel a compulsion to laugh when we hear about something horrible. Also, Kash Patel is so offensively incompetent that he can’t answer a straight question about anything without completely embarrassing himself.

So, when he was on the stand stumbling through an answer about why he’d lifted the disqualification for bestiality from the FBI hiring process, my initial response was to snort.

I want to emphasize that I feel that’s a normal response to something horrible. Quite often, during my lives, when I feel myself becoming enraged about a topic, I’ll pivot to laughter. It’s a stress relief. It’s a pressure valve. Laughter allows you to reset. I actually feel the tension drain out of my temples when I laugh.

That’s not because I’m not taking the situation seriously. It’s because I’m taking the situation too seriously.

So, out of context, when you hear the FBI has dropped the bestiality disqualification, you’re tempted to recoil and exclaim, “What?”

But here’s the point where the media has done us a disservice. It’s become appallingly obvious that the decline of investigative journalism has had a disastrous effect on our society. Journalists are the people who are not satisfied with the distraction of the low hanging fruit.

When something doesn’t make sense, there’s an evolutionary impulse to brush it away and make a joke.

As a result there were dozens of media personalities who made jokes about this story. Honestly, I’d planned to make a few reels myself. I might have done it if I hadn’t received the message I referred to earlier.

But the message was heartfelt. It contained the kind of sobering agony I recognized as valid from personal experience. Once again we must emphasize that there are terabytes of data that have not been released that are part of the Epstein files.

There are three groups of people who know what’s in these files.

* The people who survived the abuses

* The people who committed them

* The people in power who are covering it up

Something else that’s become clear over the last two years is that the current regime is too incompetent to hide anything forever. The problem with lying is that there’s too much to remember. If you’re not being truthful, contradictions start to leak into your comments.

When somebody giving testimony starts to spew contradictions or inconsistencies, your job isn’t to make jokes. Your job is to pursue those contradictions. When somebody says things that don’t make sense, it shows that person is being deceitful.

The government’s official position is that there’s no criminal behavior to pursue that’s contained in the Epstein files. Every time they get a chance, they stomp up behind podiums and tell us to “forget about it.”

At the same time, there was something in those files that compelled the FBI to remove bestiality as a disqualification for employment.

Apparently, there is some shred of decency left within the heart of somebody at the FBI. It’s enough that even though they don’t have any inclination to arrest the monsters who used animals to rape children, they still felt compelled to remove that abuse as an obstacle to employment.

That’s a pretty shaky action to try and legislate when it comes time for the judgment of the immortal soul, but here we are.

What the removal of bestiality as a disqualification for employment at the FBI reveals to me is that Kash Patel knows damn well that monstrous child traffickers are using animals to rape children. He knows it, and the last tattered remnant of his shredded conscience said, “Let’s make an accommodation for them in our hiring process.”

So just be aware of that the next time the issue of bestiality makes its way into the rounds of late night television and other forms of comedy.

This isn’t a joke.

It’s proof that our government knows children are being tortured by child sex traffickers, and they’re doing next to nothing about it.
