Bayard Rustin was arrested for sitting in the White section of a public bus in 1941, 14 years before the Birmingham Bus Boycott. He orchestrated the most famous march in human history, the March on Washington. He mentored Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on how to enact non-violence as a form of civil disobedience and protest.
