In class 3 of this LDS (Latter-day Saint) course for YSAs, host Tia Smith breaks down the Revelation Formula — the specific principles and doctrines that, when you live them, open the heavens and thin the veil.
Starting from President Nelson's teaching that in coming days we will not survive spiritually without the constant influence of the Holy Ghost, this class turns "hear Him" into something you can practice. You'll walk through each part of the formula — scripture study, prayer, listening, recording, daily repentance, and fasting, all multiplied by family history and resting on the Holy Ghost — and see each one through the lens of the gathering of Israel.
Along the way: the pattern in Lehi's life (why studying his fathers' genealogy filled him with the Spirit to prophesy), how the sons of Mosiah gained the spirit of prophecy through prayer and fasting, and why family history is the "multiplier" that makes parting the veil a normal part of your life.

Q: Why is family history called the "multiplier" for revelation?
A: Because family history work requires revelation — ancestors can't tell you in person what they need, so seeking their records necessitates a thinning-of-the-veil experience. Elder Melvin J.
