In this episode, Ioannis Ntanos (he/him) is joined by Lewis G. Burton (they/she), one of the founding members of London Trans+ Pride, now the largest trans pride event in the world. Lewis is also the founder of INFERNO, an artist, DJ and curator. 

Lewis has spent over 11 years at the forefront of London's underground queer nightlife scene, founding INFERNO, a queer techno rave and art platform championing trans+, non-binary and femme-identifying artists, and nurturing the next generation of trans+ revolutionaries, queer techno goths, club kids and drag queens.

Together, Ioannis and Lewis explore the body as a site of political resistance, and how, especially as an intersex individual, Lewis’ work has consistently used the body as a canvas - reclaiming it rather than trying to fix it.

They discuss nightlife as a transformative community space, and why these spaces create just as much culture as galleries and museums. Lewis speaks on queer nightlife as sacred ground, and what the underground scene offers trans+ people that mainstream spaces don't.

They also talk about healthcare systems that both gatekeep access to trans+ and intersex bodies and, at times, intervene without consent.

Lewis reflects on INFERNO as an act of nurturing the next generation, and on what's changed since their first Pride march to this year's - London Trans+ Pride's eighth - as it marches through central London on Saturday 25th July 2026 under the theme Our Future, Our Fight.

Finally the pair discuss Lewis' return to music after six years, and what reclaiming power beyond patriarchy and fear looks like in daily life, not just on stage.

Lewis G. Burton (they/she) is a working-class, fat, transgender, intersex, and queer individual, who’s been at the forefront of London's underground queer scene for nearly a decade. A DJ, performance artist, curator and activist from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, her work has been exhibited at the ICA, V&A, ArtHouse Jersey and Gravity Art Space in Manila.
