Oh boy, can you believe it? Here we are on this Memorial Day Monday morning. I do have the texting up. So if you wanted to reach the show, it's pretty easy to do that. Feel free to just give us a quick little message on the Common Sense Retirement Planning Text Line, 800-905-0989. That is the way to do it. We have an awful lot to get to on the show today. And our friend, Rich Rabino, is going to join us.
00:28
I know a lot of times when I fill in for Tara, we have Rich on, but here's the thing. Rich is normally available in the morning because he does all the national shows now. And I see him all over the place. Fox News, News Nation, C-SPAN, like he's an in-demand political historian. And a lot of times when I'm filling in for Tara here, it's on a holiday, which means that we...
00:56
get Rich Robino on the holiday and we can talk a little bit about that, but in particular, there could be something big happening here when it comes to a deal with Iran. So we're going to talk foreign policy and deals that presidents have made in the past, significant ones where this one may rank into it. I also want to play a little Ray Charles this morning too, mostly because I just absolutely adore that song and a day like Memorial Day. I America the Beautiful is rendition of it is just probably the best one that's ever been recorded.
01:25
So we're going to do that too, but just keep an eye on Iran and what is going on there. So president Trump over the weekend says Iran deal will be good and proper if one is made. But then when you flip over to the Iranian side, they say progress is being made, but uh agreement is not imminent. Do you notice, let me tell you one of the first things I thought of the difference between a Donald Trump and some of the front runners that wanted to be president of the United States of America.
01:56
You have Donald Trump, his son is getting married this weekend. And do you remember the big breaking news? We got to get everyone back to the White House because something big's happening and we got to get these negotiations going. Let's kind of rewind here. If it was Joe Biden and he was falling asleep on a beach somewhere, do you think he would have rushed back to the White House to negotiate and talk with the mediators in terms of Iran? He would have stayed at home, maybe came back on Tuesday.
02:25
because it's a Memorial Day weekend and said, oh, know, man, presidents got to get a break too, so we can hold it off a couple more days. If it was Kamala Harris, do think she would have came back? She probably would have been out there fundraising or trying to get some money for the failed pool of cash. The Scrooge McDuck style vault of cash they blew through during the last election. If it was Barack Obama, would he have been there? Probably. I mean, all things considered, he probably would have been there. Let's look at some of the
02:55
presidential candidates. And the one that came to mind was Pete Buttigieg. And you had a whole bunch of Democrats that wanted to be president, including Pete. And he was looked at as, he's young. He's different. He's smart. He's charismatic. You know, he's got a lot going for him. Now, if you remember when Joe Biden became president, he became the transportation secretary and he disappeared for two to three months.
03:23
and no one knew he was gone until we had this giant transportation fiasco. And everyone said, you know, if there was someone that would have had up this department, then maybe this wouldn't have happened. We should go talk to the person that's the head of that department and figure out why it's such a mess. And then they messaged Pete Buttigieg, and they got the out of office reply, sorry, I'm on paternity leave. Like, wait, what? You're the secretary of
03:51
transportation and you're on paternity leave and no one knew you were gone. At this point, I think it was like two months into it. So if you don't know this about Pete Buttigie ...
