I’ve driven past Coffee on Raiford in Selma more times than I can count.

Today I finally walked in.

I set up in the back — a couch, two chairs, a coffee table, low lighting. Less like a café and more like someone’s living room. And then I sat down with Kim, who owns the place.

From the moment I met her I could tell she understood exactly what this show is. Community, conversation, people showing up for each other. She was warm from the first word and eager to talk — the kind of person who knows her people and her coffee in equal measure.
