A Place At The Table is a pay-what-you-can café in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The first time I walked in, I felt at home. Not despite what the space holds, because of it.

Sam volunteers there. He also knows what it means to navigate homelessness. He sat down across from me and talked the way people talk when they’re not performing for anyone.
