In this episode, Anjel and James speak with Yana maru, a queer mixed media artist hailing from Southern California, about their journey to reclaim their indigenous Filipino roots. We talk about some of the horrifying monsters of Filipino mythology and then switch gears to discuss queerness, gender identity and de-colonizing one’s own self image. It's a brave and fascinating discussion where we even explore the use of it pronouns and an intersex trans goddess in pre-Christian Filipino mythology.
