Episode Description
Relive Dan Eddy's 2019 chat with Bomber number 693, Ken Fraser, which originally aired on Essendon's 'Fabric of the Essendon Football Club' podcast series celebrating the club's 150-year anniversary in 2022.
Another of Essendon's most loved figures, Fraser was recruited from the local district league and went on to play 198 VFL games (1958-68) in red and black, predominantly at centre half-forward, kicking 157 goals. He was Essendon's Best First-Year Player in 1958, played in the 1962 premiership team, won the Crichton Medal twice (1963-64), then captained the Bombers to the 1965 premiership. He was also a regular Victorian representative, captaining the state in 1966, and was twice runner-up in the Brownlow Medal (1962, 1964).
Fraser was selected at centre half-forward in Essendon's Team of the Century, chosen at No. 7 in the top Champions of Essendon, is a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, a Legend of Essendon's Hall of Fame, and served the Bombers in numerous post-playing roles including assistant coach and vice-president.
