Coach Jim Stroker welcomes Bill Martiner, an MIT/Wharton/Oxford graduate, entrepreneur, technologist and CTO who was diagnosed with ALS four and a half years ago and told he had 24–36 months to live. Now, nearing the end of his journey and using a ventilator to speak, Bill shares how he practices “Amor Fati – The Love of Fate” as participation beyond acceptance—refusing to run from reality, embracing resilient gratitude, and living mindfully in the “twilight” space before death. He describes ALS’s progression, the importance of facing mortality rather than distracting from it, and the perspective that “this too shall pass.” Bill discusses writing with eye-tracking technology, finishing a 45,000-word journal (www.TwilightJournal.com) for publication, authoring a children’s book (“Ahtu”), and launching www.RadiantBookGiving.org to donate inspiring books to hospitals and other facilities.
