Episode Description

What happens when two Southern Illinois University graduates from different decades sit down to compare college memories?

In this episode of OK Boomer, Robert Rickman and Flint Cheney return to their Saluki roots and discover that while the years may have changed, the stories are just as unforgettable.
From the legendary Halloween celebrations of the 1990s to the protests and campus unrest of the 1970s, Flint and Robert share memories of a university that was anything but ordinary. Along the way, they revisit favorite professors, campus traditions, radio and television programs, photography classes, and the unique spirit that made SIU feel like home.

Flint also shares how a chance decision to study Japanese led him to spend a year at Southern Illinois University's exchange campus in Nakajo, Japan—a life-changing experience that expanded his world far beyond southern Illinois.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where the conversation takes an unexpected turn into Animal House, John Belushi, John Candy, and SIU's surprising connection to one of the most famous college movies ever made.
