From the archive, supermarkets offer a service to the community + a bit of a geography/history lesson! I was thinking about this episode recently and it's apparently a spreading phenomenon. Carrefour, a French grocery store, now has "Blablabla Caisses" (which is a great name) for people who want a bit of connection while shopping.
