Episode Description
In the same New Zealand, in the same landmark year that gave women the vote, Harmonia follows a different path to that victory --- through a tailoress's union hall instead of a suffrage platform. Harriet Morison organized New Zealand's first women's trade union, won a real minimum wage for exhausted, underpaid tailoresses, and later became the country's first female factory inspector, closing a circle few ever get to close. Part four of the seven-part suffrage arc, this episode asks what happens when the fight for a woman's vote and the fight for a woman's fair wage turn out to be the very same fight.
