1. Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy being Featured Live on 9NEWS

Talented students from Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy were featured live on 9NEWS on Feb. 20, showcasing their original fashion designs ahead of their upcoming runway event.

During the segment, students shared the inspiration behind their pieces and presented designs that reflected their creativity, culture and personal identity. Their work highlighted both their artistic talent and the dedication they have shown throughout the project.

The live appearance on 9NEWS gave students a memorable opportunity to represent their school and share their voices with a wider audience. Experiences like this help students build confidence,develop real-world skills and demonstrate the creativity and talent that exists across Denver Public Schools every day. 

2. Spring 2026 Job Fair at Central Community Hub

The Spring 2026 Job Fair and DPS Talent Acquisition Event will be on  Friday, March 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Central Community Hub at Swansea Elementary School. Register via the link in our show notes: Register. From 10-10:50 a.m.: there will be a Resume, Application and Interview Workshop Session. From 11 a.m.-noon there will be an Information session hosted by the DPS Talent Acquisition team regarding different career opportunities. And lastly from Noon-2 p.m.: It’s the full Job Fair with open hours to meet with employers hiring for various industries like hospitality, construction, distribution, health and education. 

3. DPS FACE University Upcoming Learning Opportunities

On Tuesday, March 3 at 6:15 p.m. (English) or 7:15 p.m. (Spanish), FACE University is offering: Teacher Talk Tuesdays: First Grade via (Zoom). During this session, users can watch a real lesson in action. Teachers will show you exactly how to help your child with schoolwork at home and  prizes will be given away during the call! 

On March 25 from 5:30–6:30 p.m., join FACE University for Book Talk Trivia: on (Zoom): Participants can play trivia while learning how to talk to your kids about "big" life topics. Every family that attends will receive a free book and a chance for more giveaways! 

4. Colorado Department of Education Recognizing the DPS Special Education team

In a letter from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), DPS Special Education was recognized for strengthening its services offered to students with disabilities over the past five years. The results reflect a more stable and coherent set of special education procedures and data practices across the district.

Congratulations, DPS Special Education, on the results of your hard work!

5. Three DPS Schools Named as 2024-25 Top 50 College-Level Examination Program High Schools

Abraham Lincoln High School, Northfield High School and CEC Early College have been honored as Top 50 College-Level Examination Program, or CLEP, High Schools for 2024-25, placing them among the leading schools nationwide in helping students earn college credit through CLEP exams. This honor showcases DPS’ dedication to providing multiple pathways for students to earn college credit and highlights Abraham Lincoln, Northfield and CEC’s leadership in promoting college access. Congratulations to these schools on their incredible commitment to their students’ success!
