Amrita’s Notes: Jihoon talks about his MFA experience and wanting to write about a mass shooting incident that deeply affected the American South Korean community when he was growing up, that led to him writing his debut novel. He talks of designing complex characters and being inspired by elements of magical realism by Karen Russell, George Saunders and Haruki Murakami.
