Originally broadcast between 1977 and 1986 on UK regional television, "Whispering Winnie" was billed as a gentle bedtime storytelling series for children. The premise? A young girl in a painted portrait would “come to life” and whisper fairytale bedtime stories to the viewer.
But the tales were never quite right.
