Episode Description
In the new re-imagining of Faces of Death, murder is good for the algorithm. Hitting theaters April 10, 2026, the new film is directed by Daniel Goldhaber (Cam) and produced/co-written by Isa Mazzei (Cam, How to Blow Up a Pipeline). In this episode of Talking Strange, Goldhaber and Mazzei speak with host Aaron Sagers about the plot that follows a follows a content moderator (Barbie Ferreira from Euphoria, and Nope) who uncovers violent videos tied to the legacy of the original film, forcing her to question what is staged and what is real — and putting her on a collision course with a social media serial killer (Dacre Montgomery, from Stranger Things, and Dead Man’s Wire).
The film — also starring Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell, The Buccaneers), Jermaine Fowler (Coming 2 America, Sorry to Bother You), and Charli XCX (The Moment, Mother Mary) — reflects a world where “faces of death are everywhere” and the content stream has become modern pop culture.
Listen in as Goldhaber and Mazzei unpack the ethics of shock horror, the influence of social media, and why audiences can’t look away from disturbing content. And don’t miss our Talking Strange episode with guests Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery.
