Episode Description
We already knew Florida was weird, but it gets much weirder in the new horror/black comedy Mermaid, starring Johnny Pemberton, and open in select theaters. April 8.
Written and directed by Tyler Cornack (Butt Boy, Tiny Cinema), Mermaid follows Pemberton (21 Jump Street, Superstore, Fallout) as a socially-awkward drug addicted Floridian who discovers a wounded mermaid, and becomes dangerously obsessed with protecting her.
Also Avery Potemri as the mermaid, Kevin Nealon (Saturday Night Live, Weeds), Tom Arnold (True Lies), and Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, Peacemaker), Kevin Dunn (Veep) the film is Cornack's “absurdist love letter to Florida,” blending surreal humor, horror, and the bizarre reality of coastal life .
In this episode of Talking Strange, Pemberton shares with host Aaron Sagers about the film’s strange tone, the balance of comedy and horror, the experience of filming in Florida — and jokes about what his Fallout character might be up to, or mutating into, in the third season.
Do you think Mermaids actually exist?
