God Wants A Relationship Not A Monologue

Episode Description

Waking up in the middle of the night can feel like failure. Tonight I want to flip that story on its head.

I’m Heidi, and I’m recording Surviving Changes at night for the first time in a while. That schedule change opens the door to something bigger: the way we’ve been taught to think about sleep. We’ve all heard the rule that “healthy sleep” means eight uninterrupted hours, but I share why that isn’t the only natural pattern. I talk about segmented sleep, sometimes called biphasic sleep, where you sleep for a few hours, wake for a short stretch, then sleep again. If you’ve dealt with insomnia, anxiety at night, or constant self-judgment about rest, this reframe can be a relief.

Then we go deeper than sleep hygiene. I share what God has been pressing on my heart: prayer isn’t meant to be a one-way speech. What He wants is a relationship. Over time, that relationship becomes a real conversation where you learn to listen, not just ask. I also talk about how that kind of listening can quiet the clutter in your mind, especially in those still nighttime hours when reflection and meditation come more easily.

If you’re navigating change, struggling with sleep, or craving spiritual growth that feels real, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s up at 2 a.m., and leave a review with one thing you’re going to try tonight.
