Chronicles of the Nildorin - D&D Campaign - Episode 28

Morning breaks over Whitemaw as the Nildorin stir awake inside the quiet chapel. After a playful morning greeting and cuddles with Hugo the cat, Nemiea sets out to prepare a hearty breakfast in the chapel's makeshift kitchen. Cooking doesn't go entirely smoothly, Nemiea accidentally slices her finger while chopping potatoes, prompting Harding to step in with a swift healing touch, while Dante takes over preparing a savory stew from jerked meat.

Over freshly steeped Ghand tea, Dante shares a vulnerable conversation with Francis Pond about his struggling identity as a Dragonborn, his sudden outbursts of dark rage, and the heavy burden of his father's demise. Examining the ring Dante retrieved from his father, Francis discovers a lingering dark curse and uses divine magic to cleanse it. When Dante presents the Gilded Tome, its compass needle flares with brilliant light, spinning wildly back and forth between Dante and Francis, hinting that the sleepy priest holds a vital connection to their lingering quest.

Seeking to secure the chapel, Francis leads the party down spiral stairs into the subterranean temple below, the site of their previous battle against the beholder Melaculous. Using Thaumaturgy to ignite the wall sconces, Nemiea unlocks the hidden door leading toward the monster-infested caverns below. Realizing the danger, the group seals the passage, planning to alert the local Baron. However, as they turn to leave, the chapel lights flicker ominously and a sinister scraping sound echoes from the massive pit in the center of the floor, where a new terror begins crawling into the light!
