Part Six of my Great Producers series takes us to the 2000s. Digital recording had finally become fully affordable, and took over every aspect of the industry, leaving analog systems to retro purists & people who could afford them. New tools allowed for greater precision & tightness than ever before, and that became the standard for every genre.

I talk about those tech changes and how they shaped the music. And I run down my list of the most significant producers of the decade.

What music from the 2000s did you listen to? Did you notice how different the base standard for music recording had become? Were you into recording yourself, and if so, did you get into it because it was so cheap & easy to access? How do you think 2000s music measures up? And how did it influence music in the 2010s and today? Discuss dammit!
