Episode Description
Entertainment is when you're fully focused on what's happening right now. You're not thinking about the past, the future, or everything going on around you. This is often called being in a state of flow.
Excitement is a form of entertainment that boosts your energy and stirs your emotions.
Happy people tend to experience both entertainment and excitement more often—and they stay in those feelings longer.
There are two main ways to create these feelings:
Self-created – You actively engage in what you're doing and give it your full attention instead of multitasking.
Consumed – Something external captures your attention completely, such as music, a movie, a game, or an entertainer.
Think about this question:
What's more important to you?
Where you go, what you eat, or what you do?
Who are you doing it with?
If we understand what creates these positive feelings, we can intentionally create more of them. We can also identify what drains those feelings and learn to avoid it.
Each night, take a few minutes to review your day and ask yourself:
What did I learn today?
What made me feel good?
What made me feel bad?
The last question is often the most important because it helps you understand what's affecting your happiness.
At the end of the day, you are responsible for managing your own feelings—not other people.
