Connected cars have been described as a "privacy nightmare on wheels". Features designed for safety allow these vehicles to transmit data continuously, tracking location, monitoring calls, recording your voice and even capturing images from inside and outside your car.
But there are concerns these features can be easily weaponised, with the eSafety commissioner warning victims of domestic violence are at risk of being tracked through connected car data.
So how much data is actually being collected, and what are the rules around it?
