On January 15, 1919, a massive storage tank suddenly burst in Boston’s North End, unleashing 2.3 million gallons of molasses in a deadly wave that swallowed streets, demolished buildings, and killed 21 people. In this episode of Let’s Get Haunted, Aly is joined by special guests Ed & Chris of Scared All The Time as they dive into the horrifying firsthand accounts of survivors, the gruesome reality of how victims died, and the corporate negligence that allowed the disaster to happen. We’ll also explore the bizarre theory that Italian anarchists bombed the tank and the years-long investigation that ultimately revealed the truth. More than a century later, locals claim the tragedy may have left something behind, from phantom screams and shadow figures to the mysterious smell of molasses still lingering in the streets of Boston.
