Episode Description
Join us as we return to John Carpenter, this time earlier in his career, with 1981's "Escape from New York." Starring Kurt Russel (the first time they worked together), Lee Van Cleef, Isaac Hayes, Adrienne Barbeau, Ernest Borgnine and Harry Dean Stanton, the movie transports us to the bleak future of....1997. As a group of millennials we can't disagree. We discuss the muddled politics of Carpenter in comparison to some of his later films, its misanthropic underpinnings, and how Snake Plissken doesn't count as an anti hero because he doesn't count as a hero at all.
