The Final Nail is a short story from host Dominick Domingo's latest collection, "Every Last Dragonfly." It's a compilation of short stories and essays that is largely a portrait of the sometimes thin veil between the material world and the metaphysical—the rare glimpses that can haunt or inspire—sustaining us in our daily toil. During our most recent episode, Dominick and co-host Virginia Grenier explored the chasm between appearances and reality—the very human need to fill in gaps in the unknown with conjecture, innuendo, gossip or even demonization of the 'other.' During that rich conversation, it dawned on Dominick that he'd been addressing that very phenomenon in his recent writings, most notably in The Final Nail. In that spirit, we're following up with an author reading of the piece. Hopefully you, as a listener, can connect it back to the more academic conversation that preceded it.
