Episode Description
Herb Baumeister looked like a successful Indiana businessman, husband, and father of three. But behind his family's Westfield estate—Fox Hollow Farm—investigators uncovered approximately 10,000 human bones and bone fragments belonging to an unknown number of men.
In this episode of Kat Has Questions, we take a deep dive into the life and suspected crimes of Herb Baumeister: his early life, marriage to Julie Baumeister, Sav-A-Lot thrift stores, the disappearances of men from Indianapolis's LGBTQ+ community, and the surviving witness who helped investigators identify the mysterious man calling himself “Brian.”
We follow the investigation to Fox Hollow Farm and examine nine Indiana and Ohio strangulation murders investigators later attributed to Baumeister—and whether the evidence supports the theory that Herb Baumeister was the elusive I-70 Strangler.
But this case didn't end with Herb Baumeister's death in 1996.
Nearly thirty years later, investigators are still using DNA testing and forensic genetic genealogy to identify the men recovered from Fox Hollow. This is the story of Herb Baumeister, the victims of Fox Hollow Farm, and an Indiana serial killer case that still isn't finished.
