Episode Description
In Season 2, Episode 3 of Kallaborate: Where Joy Becomes Your Foundation, Francene Treasure explores the cost of choosing yourself after years of survival, family responsibility, trauma, people pleasing, and learning to keep everyone else comfortable.
The Cost of Choosing Yourself is a gentle, honest conversation about boundaries, family guilt, self-trust, leaving what is unsafe, and protecting your peace even when it costs you belonging.
Through personal storytelling, Francene reflects on the layers of choosing herself: leaving home before she had words for what she needed, escaping one kind of pain without realizing she was walking into another, finding her voice after emotional and domestic abuse, and eventually creating boundaries with family that brought both freedom and grief.
This episode is for anyone who has ever felt guilty for setting a boundary, questioned whether they were selfish for choosing peace, stayed too long because others needed them, or grieved the family connection they wished they had.
Topics include trusting yourself, setting boundaries, family estrangement, emotional healing, people pleasing, domestic abuse recovery, finding your voice, self-worth, protecting your peace, childhood trauma, survival roles, and coming home to yourself.
Because the ache doesn’t always mean the boundary is wrong.
Sometimes it means you’re grieving the belonging you wished was there.
