Jesus reagiert bei der Tempelreinigung mit ungewöhnlicher Schärfe, weil ihm die Gemeinschaft der

Menschen mit Gott im Tempel, dem "Haus seines Vaters", zutiefst am Herzen liegt. Durch seinen Tod

und seine Auferstehung macht Jesus uns rein und ermöglicht damit wieder direkten Zugang zu Gott

dem Vater. Wir selbst werden zum Tempel Gottes, in dem sein Geist wohnt (1. Kor 3,16-17). Wer Jesus

ähnlicher werden will, übernimmt deshalb Verantwortung für diesen "Tempel" – für die eigene Reinheit,

für Vergebung, die Stärkung und für die Einheit der Gemeinde als Ganzes.

Jesus responds with unusual intensity during the cleansing of the temple, because the

fellowship of people with God in the temple, His Father's house, is deeply important to Him.

Through His death and resurrection, Jesus makes us clean and thereby restores direct

access to God the Father. We ourselves become the temple of God, in whom His Spirit

dwells (1 Cor 3:16-17). Whoever wants to become more like Jesus therefore takes

responsibility for this "temple" — for their own purity, for forgiveness, for building others up,

and for the unity of the church as a whole.
