We’re going to focus on the topic of “There are no more apostles today”. The Bible teaches that there are no more apostles today because the apostolic office was uniquely tied to the foundation of the church and required qualifications no one can meet now. Scripture shows that apostles had to be personally chosen by Jesus Christ and had to be eyewitnesses of His resurrection—requirements laid out in Acts 1:21–22 and affirmed by Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:1. Their role was foundational, not ongoing; Ephesians 2:20 describes the church as being “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,” and a foundation is laid once, not repeatedly. The apostles were entrusted with delivering revelation, establishing doctrine, and confirming the gospel with signs as the New Testament was being formed. Once that foundation was complete and Scripture finalized, the office itself ceased. While the church still benefits from apostolic teaching through the New Testament, no one today can claim the authority, qualifications, or role of a biblical apostle.
