Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed today for Washington, where he is scheduled to meet President Trump at the White House on Tuesday and attend the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime supporter of Israel and senior Republican leader. He is expected to return to Israel on Thursday.

On Iran, President Trump has reportedly delayed a major military escalation to allow diplomatic efforts to continue, including discussions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. While U.S. officials say strike plans remain on the table, concerns over air defense munitions and the opportunity for diplomacy have postponed immediate action. For Israelis, however, the threat remains immediate, particularly as Iran’s new Supreme Leader continues to issue hostile statements toward Israel.

Meanwhile, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa confirmed that indirect talks with Israel are progressing toward a potential security agreement, with several countries facilitating the negotiations. Israeli-Lebanese diplomatic channels also remain open, offering cautious signs of regional de-escalation.

The most immediate security concern over the weekend was renewed violence in the West Bank. Two Israelis—civilian security volunteer Benayahu Mellet and IDF Maj. Yuval Ezra—were killed during a confrontation near the Palestinian village of Tell that also left four Palestinians dead. Conflicting accounts continue regarding the events leading to the clash, including whether the Israeli group coordinated its presence with the military. In the aftermath, retaliatory attacks by Israeli civilians targeted nearby Palestinian communities, including the arson of two mosques, a home, and several vehicles, further inflaming tensions.

While diplomacy is showing cautious progress on Israel’s northern front and with Syria, the Iranian threat remains unresolved, and the West Bank has once again become Israel’s most volatile and politically sensitive security arena.
