Why Are Netflix Top Shows Losing Viewers?
Cinema Shorts is reporting that Netflix is experiencing a severe "sophomore slump," with data revealing that its top-performing original series are losing between 30% and 70% of their viewing audience between seasons 1 and 2.
As first reported in Bloomberg's "Screentime" newsletter, executive leadership is actively trying to diagnose this mass viewer abandonment.
Theories include the multi-year gap between seasons, that dropping an entire season creates a burst of convo that flames out quickly, and the vicious cycle of cancellations.
