At Harbour we believe God is calling us to become a community of homecoming, formation and adventure. Jonny starts a three-part series on this mission by teaching on homecoming from the most famous story Jesus ever told. 

In German the term ‘unheimlichkeit’ refers to the feeling of being ‘not-yet-at-home.’ The big story of the Bible describes how humanity is redemptively gathered home from exile. The genius of Jesus as a storyteller is taking that overarching story and folding it into a beautiful episode about a good Dad and two wayward sons. 

One says ‘I don’t need you’, the other believes ‘you owe me,’ both are ways of getting out somehow from underneath the love of God. 

The invitation to both boys and to us is simple: just come home.
