Episode Description
Jodi Scott co-founded Green Goo, a plant-based first aid brand, after a bike fall led her past an abandoned Southern estate and a first aid cabinet she could no longer justify during her pregnancy. What started as herbs grown in an Idaho backyard and sold at farmers markets grew into a national retail presence.
Then she sold the company to what looked like the right financial partner. Weeks later, that partner's founder was raided by federal investigators, and Jodi had less than 24 hours to lay off her entire team — her mom, her sister, her husband, her brother-in-law, and her best friend from college.
On this episode of FINE is a 4-Letter Word, Jodi tells Lori Saitz what it took to rebuild after that collapse, including the coach who refused to let her cancel a session she could no longer afford, and the two-year fight to buy her own company back.
What You'll Take Away
- Why mental fitness has to be trained deliberately, not just reached for during a crisis
- How a coach's every-three-hours presence practice rebuilt Jodi's capacity to make decisions
- Why the answers you need are usually already in you, if you can get into the right state to access them
- What it actually costs to build a national brand from a farmers market table
- Why anticipating the worst contractually protects you more than optimism does
