weekly dose of fat micro dose This Week’s Micro Dose: Arctic Epics, Custom Builds, and the One Upgrade That Changed Everything

This week’s Micro Dose is packed. We’re kicking things off with an incredible story out of Alaska. Ned Rozell and Forest Wagner are riding fat bikes roughly 700 miles from Fairbanks to Nome, chasing frozen rivers and hard-packed snow before spring pulls the plug. It’s not a race, just two friends and a really long line on the map. We’ve also got a surprise long-form profile from Pinkbike (for real! Pinkbike) on Greg Matyas, the man behind Fatback now Corvus Cycles, tracing how one Anchorage shop rat helped shape the fat bike scene as we know it. And if you haven’t seen the “Project XL Double Bacon Cheesebrother” from Sentient Works yet… just wait. It’s a custom fat cargo bike built for serious all-weather hauling, and it’s as wild as the name suggests.

On the more sobering side, former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin had to cut her 300-mile Arctic Circle fat bike ride short after frostbite set in. A real reminder that the cold doesn’t care about your resume. We’re also digging into a great conversation from the Fat-bike Lab this week: what’s the ONE upgrade that changed your fat bike the most? Dropper posts and cockpit swaps are leading the charge, but there are some surprising answers in there too. Hit play on the episode, and if you haven’t joined the Lab yet, it’s free over at fat-bike.com/community. Enjoy the ride.
