Vermilion’s Shadow — Chapter Four
The Battlestar Vermilion continues to lead the Colonial fleet through the vastness of space, carrying millions of colonists toward the distant world that will one day become their new home.
The journey is long, and while the fleet presses forward, life aboard the ships continues. Training, duty, and preparation never stop—especially for those being shaped into the next generation of Colonial officers and pilots.
For Mattix Raydeon, that journey has become increasingly personal.
Mattix now enters his fifth year at the Academy, and the young cadet who once struggled simply to earn his place there is beginning to disappear. In his place is someone more confident, more capable, and far more aware of the abilities developing within him.
His friendships are stronger. His skills are sharper. And the people around him are beginning to recognize that Mattix may be capable of far more than anyone originally expected.
But the Academy is not finished testing him.
As his fifth year begins, the pressure increases, the expectations become higher, and Mattix is pushed closer to the man—and the officer—he may eventually become.
