Joel Kohnert and his wife, Jennifer Kohnert, are accused of locking a 12-year-old girl in a room for two to three years and forcing her to write Bible verses as punishment. Joel is a fire lieutenant in Broward County, Florida. A probable cause affidavit lay out the abuse the girl claimed she endured including being forced to urinate and defecate in the bedroom.
