Short stories for 30 years.  She’s so good at the power of voice and afirst-person narrative. And she’s been published in literary journals. Breaking Through the Walls: When I write literary shortfiction, I ignore the boundaries between storyteller and reader. My storiesunfold as intimate conversations—one voice speaking to one listener. SometimesI'm present as the author; other times, the narrator or character takes over.This isn't a calculated technique - it's simply the way stories come throughme: crossing the invisible barriers that typically separate fiction from itsaudience.I trust the readers - they possess an intuition for distinguishingbetween fabrication and truth, between a clever tale and something real.
