Episode Description

Welcome to 2026 and Episode 10 of the series. After the holiday break, Alex and Rob are looking towards the (30th Anniversary) year ahead and sharing their thoughts on Requiem and the next 12 months, but then it's onto the main topic and looking back to 2020 and the release of Resident Evil 3 Remake - and it's companion online game - Resistance.

It's not controversial to say response to RE3's remake has been a very mixed one and we don't hold back on why, but the more digging into the development certainly may provide some unknown answers to some on why. Did you know development for the game started still early during the RE2 remake's, was once considered to be combined with 2 as a combo, and Capcom didn't know how much they would likely feel was a safe amount to spend yet? Certainly starts to make more sense of some of the choices. This and much more is uncovered during the first half of the episode.

However things are looking up when a surprise guest joins in when the look back moves onto Resident Evil Resistance, the online multiplayer standalone that released alongside all copies of Resident Evil 3. We are joined by no less than the games director, Al Yang, from Neobards. Al is an exceptionally talented director, who's most recent title - Silent Hill f - for Konami has been exceptionally well received, and many of the team who worked on it - also worked previously on Resistance (making Al and many of the staff some of the only people who can say they worked on both major horror gaming franchises!).

Capcom chose the company to take onboard this project as its own thing, with it's own time frame, budget, and development and Al explains first hand how this happened, and lots about outsourcing development at the top level. While even Al himself knows multiplayer is not the top focus for Resident Evil, it's amazing to learn all about how these sorts of projects come together and learn more about why decisions are made. We hope you will find this all an amazing inside look directly that is extremely rare for such a recent release.
