Episode Description
Cara Tyrrell, a linguistic wizard in the realm of early childhood, graces us with her presence in a lively chat about the importance of communication in early years. Forget the notion that little ones are just blobs of cuteness; they are actually little sponges soaking up every word and sound around them! With over two decades of experience, Kara enlightens us on how infants and toddlers are constantly absorbing language, even before they can speak back. We dive deep into her unique framework, the Talking Triangle, which is like a secret weapon for parents and educators. It’s all about using intentional language to foster emotional regulation and identity. Cara’s insights reveal how the words we choose can either build or break a child’s self-esteem and learning potential. We also touch on the impact of the pandemic on language development and how those ‘Covid babies’ might need some extra love and attention to catch up. This episode is packed with actionable tips and is a must-listen for anyone involved in the life of a tiny human!
