While renting is a great way to start your life post-college, post-trade school, or post-high-school, doing it for too long can hurt you; mostly, in the long-term. Meaning, it's a great way to get started, but plan to invest your rental dollars in an asset sooner than later: real estate, stock market, etc. Enter, "buy the sh*thole." While it would be nice to own the home of your dreams as a first-time buyer, it's not that easy (or the norm).
