SCENE: Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo walks and talks with Rep. Tim Burchett as he heads from a vote in the US Capitol to his office across the street just ahead of Congress’ 10-day Labor Day recess.
Matt Laslo: There’s a rumor that we’re getting some big UAP news?
Rep. Tim Burchett: ‘Fake’ UAP news?
Laslo: No, BIG.
Burchett: ‘Big,’ oh.
Laslo: Earth-moving.
Burchett: Yeah, they say that, but I, I’m not going to believe it until I see it, brother. We get those leaks a lot, and then some of them bear a little fruit and some of them don’t. So I’m just going to wait and hold my opinion until I see it.
Laslo: I hear you guys are working a lot with Stephen Miller? And then also this FBI group?
Burchett: Yeah, they’ve been very cooperative. Stephen Miller has put it on a priority. He’s actually assigned people to it, so I think that shows that it goes to the highest levels.
Laslo: And I hear the FBI is — do you feel like the FBI is being honest?
Burchett: Do what?
Laslo: Do you feel like the FBI is being honest partners in this?
Burchett: I don’t know. In the past they haven’t. But there’s a new chief in the White House, so let’s see what happens. I’d like to be pleasantly surprised.
Laslo: What should folks expect next?
Burchett: I just want some proof. I’m tired of it. I want them just to come clean with everything. But I realize that’s not the way this place works. I’m afraid I’m just going to be disappointed, so I’m not going to get my hopes up. But I’m going to keep pushing.
Laslo: Yes, sir. Have a good one.
